SAY YES TO RESPECT On Friday we had a focus on respecting each other. WORMING

RIDE TO SCHOOL DAY

Friday 22nd March is Ride to School Day.

Hopefully you have all completed the permission / infor-mation note on the APP so we are aware of where you and your children will start this adventure.

Please join us at school for a BBQ breakfast.

This has always been a fun way to start the day.

Students may leave their bikes at school for the day and we will have activities for students during lunch and recess.

Students have been supplied with a high vis cover for their back pack to ensure we are all visible on the side of the road.

RIVERINA PSSA TOUCH FOOTBALL TRIALS

A little reminder that if your child isn’t feeling 100% or is not sleeping well it may be time to worm your whole family.

If your child has worms, they may:

• have an itchy bottom, which may become redandinflamedfromscratching * be irritable and generally ‘out of sorts’ • not sleep very well • have a reduced appetite.

You can talk to a pharmacist about over-the-counter treatment options. Drugs such as pyrantel (Combantrin) or mebendazole (Banworm) are very safe and often recommended. Follow the instructions on the packet, bearing in mind special precautions may be given for children under two years of age and for pregnant women.

• Treat all the family members at the same time, even if they aren’t showing any Symptoms. Adults can also get thread worm. • If possible, your child should have a shower on the night they have the medicine, and again the next morning to remove the eggs laid during the night.

For more information you can talk with the pharmacist oryourfamilydoctor.Youcanalsofindbrochuresonthetopic or have a look on the World Wide Web.

On Friday Jennifer Gollasch joined us for some more recorder practice and violin for Zoe. The students are making great progress. In term 2 we will be joining other students from the area who are going to the Opera house, at Borambola, for a practice. Students need to be able to read the music by then.

Congratulations to Tayissa and Matilda who attended the Wagga Wagga Touch Football trials. Tayissa had a great time and found it a positive experience. Matilda was able to join with her team mates from the Riverina Touch Team and was chosen to represent Wagga Wagga at the Riverina trials. (Tayissa was absent for the photo)

LEARNING WITH MS STURMAN

LEARNING WITH MR GORDON

This week learning has been focused on our local culture with speeches being written for the public speaking aspect of our learning. This has linked in with our STEM unit, KaPOW learning as well as multiculturalism with an Aboriginal perspective.

Last week and this week in Mr Gordon’s class we have had Mrs Rogers our prac student from CSU teaching us about descriptive writing for speeches and editing our work. We are enjoy-ing learning with Mrs Rogers as she has taught the class a new drama game to help them role play. Students are pretending they are sitting on a bus and pretending that they are a person who just got on the bus, and the students are to have a conversation in character. All students enjoyed the persona’s they played. We look forward to the next three weeks with Ms Rogers.

This week, we have had people come from the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery to present the Kids and Print Outreach Workshop (KAPOW). The students are learning about the skills for printing andthedifferenttypesofprinting.Studentswereabletotaketurns using a printing press and experimented with printing using plates. There were some interesting designs.

Ms Rogers is assisting in the maths area of learning, this has been interrupted with the KaPOW sessions which enhance maths and expands our understanding of the Aboriginal perspective of our environment through art.

LEARNING WITH MRS D

The big highlight for this is week are the KaPOW art workshops. In yesterday’s session the children were very excited to be working on art for all of the morning! The instructors from the art gallery showed and discussed with us, an aboriginal artwork and then we began constructing our own. The tearing of the paper was a bit tricky but we all did a great job. The children were very interested in the press and once we had inked up our images we all got a chance to turn the press. Our prints were amazing.

Thevegiegardeniscomingtolifeandthevegiesarebeginningtoflourish.Ourmeasurementactivitywiththetomatoes is providing us with some interesting results

Table of measurementsHopefully we may soon be harvesting some tomatoes, lettuce and basil to make some yummy salads.
