This album cover is interesting as it highlights the moving technologies of the media.  It is evident that this cover was done with the assistance of photo-shop which allowed the whole concept to be based upon the trend of animation, used by plently of contemporary artists such

as 'Kanye West' and 'Pharrell Williams (N*E*R*D), it makes the cover surreal. The cover is simple, however, as they have stressed on the animation and the neutral colours it makes a statement as we understand the direction of the artist in terms of the target audience and what will expect whilst listening to the CD. Having an image of the artist as the central focus is a well known convention within musical albums as we can form an identification with the artist, if we were to see her on a music channel or in an interview we would be able to connect with her as we have seen her face before. The keyboard on the far right of the cover emphasises on the love and passion of music Ladyhawke has, it is evident that music is her priority hence the mess in the room, the wires creates a sense of confusion and a distorted image of her life. The cover seems to entice the consumer into getting into the artists world, perhaps she has a love for cats, computer consoles (controller on the

floor and she is playing with it) all of these images places an ideology, in this case it is the fun and relaxed spirit of the singer, it all creates meaning and influence. This is deemed to be such a success as the cover does not overstate the artist, it is simple, artistic and creative which allow us to form an image of star persona and we create to an extent an opinion of her music without listening to the whole album. Additionally with new artist, their début album is usually their name, which makes it easier for the consumer to remember and to buy when purchasing the album.

The portrayal of the wardrobe of this album clearly places emphasis on the alternative/indie genre this album is

Title is simple yet very edgy which coincides with the whole concept of the rough depiction.
