CLOVERPORT - The Lady Aces (3-8) controlled the tempo of their game with the Beth Haven Lady Bearcats (1- 5). The Lady Aces illustrated some good basketball playing with a team that was of their equal. The Lady Bearcats did attempt a comeback in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter as the Lady Bearcats cut the lead to 6 points, 22 to 28 on a hit by Morgan Mason with 3:38 left in the game. Megan Smith was fouled by Mason, her fifth, and hit one of her two free throws. Mason had scored eight of her 13 points in the last quarter. Katie Brown was fouled by Alexis Bowles and hit both free throws to put the Lady Tigers up by nine points, 22 to 31. Megan Smith scored Lady Aces win third game of the season CLOVERPORT -The eu- phoria of their third win was short lived by the Lady Aces (3-9) after the BCHS Lady Tigers (9-6) rolled into the Sports Center the next night. The Lady Tigers took quick control of the game during the opening minutes behind three two point hits and a three pointer basket by BCHS se- nior guard Julie Whitfill. The lone point by the Lady Aces game on a free throw hit by Devin Owens. The game had a slow tempo by both teams. The Lady Aces continue to show improved ball handling and passing but fell short on the hitting portion of the game and the press and double teaming hurt the home team hurt their ability to get within range. They received the right prescription with a 20 point win over the Lady Bears of Butler County (2-9) on the following Monday night. Julie Whitfill’s 29 point performance coupled with Jenna Thornhill’s 19 point scoring of which 12 came in the third quarter, helped to secure the victory. The Lady Tigers shot 47.1 percent from the field hitting 24 of 51. They made 8 of 14 free throws for 57.1 percent. The Lady Tigers had 22 total rebounds with Jenna Thorn- hill picked up of 7 and Cait- Lady Tigers fly high over Apollo E-Gals HARNED - The Lady Ti- gers (10-6) were able to keep ahead of the visiting Apollo (5-13) team the last half to put one in the victory column. The victory was not indica- tive of the final score of 57 to 46 as it was a hard fought battle throughout four quar- ters. The Lady E-Gals were leading by 2 at the end of the first quarter and the Lady Ti- gers were ahead by 5 at the mid-point. With 2:38 left in the second quarter Jenna Thornhill tied up the game at 23 all with a basket. She missed the front end of a one plus one trip at the foul line. On the next play down at the home goal, she got a three point play by hitting a shot under the goal and was fouled by Madison Bright. She con- nected on her free throw to give the Lady Tigers a three point edge. Julie Whitfill put the Lady Tigers up by five with a shot with :22 left. In the last quarter the E- Gals cut the Lady Tiger lead to three on a shot by guard Britney Yamada who had 16 points for the evening. ELIZABETHTOWN - The Lady Rebels have been idle since December 19 and began their final few games with a win over St. James 30 to 26. Scoring for the Lady Rebels was Jordyn Jarboe 8, Mary Hinton, Danielle Allen and Sarah Horsley 6 each and Gra- cie Rothrock 4. Next up for the Lady Reb- els is a game with Cannelton on January 12 which is eighth grade night and their final scheduled games are in the Diocesan Tournament at Hen- derson Holy Name on Jan. 28. Lady Rebels win by four HARNED - The BCMS Ti- gers lost two games at home to the visiting Edmonson County Middle School. In the seventh grade game,the Tigers were de- feated 47 to 15. Scoring for BCMS were Clayton Burks 4, Rob Carman, Devin Hal and Tanner Whitworth all with 3 points and Collin Lee had 2. In the eighth grade game, the Tigers came out on the low end of the scoreboard, 34 to 10. Scoring for BCMS were Kolby Huffines 5, Trey Woosley and Logan Muse 2 points each and Brandon Dowell with 1 point. In their next game in Leitchfield, the seventh grade Tigers lost to the Grayson County Middle School Cou- gars 49 to 27. Scoring for the Tigers were James Hunt 11, Tanner Whitworth 9, Rob Carman 7, Devin Hall and Colin Lee with 2 points each. In the eighth grade match, the Tigers lost to the host Cougars 58 to 27.
