PREAMBLE:

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has launched a scheme on skills development based on

higher education leading to Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) Degree with multiple entry and exit such

as Diploma / Advanced Diploma. The B.Voc. Programme is focused on preparing Diploma /

Degree holders to acquire necessary job market skills enabling them to gain appropriate

employment.

In 2015, Lady Doak College got approval and financial support was obtained from UGC to

MASSIVE OPEN ONLINE COURSES (MOOCs)

NATIONAL PROGRAMME ON TECHNOLOGY ENHANCED LEARNING

National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) courses are part of Massive

Open Online Courses (MOOCs). Offering MOOCs as extra credit courses was already approved in

the Academic Council Meeting that was held on 6thMay, 2015. Registration to NPTEL courses is

optional for Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.

The Online Courses are designed and offered by eminent professors / scientists from reputed

institutions like IIT, IISC etc. Content of the course is reviewed regularly by experts. Faculty of Lady

Doak College also make an assessment on the quality, evaluation pattern and duration of the

course. A final examination is conducted at a particular Centre supervised by a mentor.

The objective in offering these courses is to promote online learning through the National

Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning courses. The college will decide on the credits and

specify to whom the courses should be offered. Students get an authorized NPTEL certificate with

grade points as mentioned below:

– Below 60% - Normal Certificate

– Above 60% - Elite Certifiate

– Above 90% - Elite & Gold Medal Certificates

Norms for credits

• 10 hr. course – 1 credit

• 20 hr. course – 2 credits
