Lacy Leaves Scarf  This lightweight scarf is perfect for changing seasons! Make it in a vibrant green to celebrate new growth in spring, or in rich autumn shades to pair with any fall ensemble. Shown in Red Heart Unforgettable in colorway Echo

Skill: Beginner/Intermediate US Terms  Materials: Approximately 180-250 yards of your chosen yarn and an appropriate sized hook (within 1 size of the manufacturer’s recommended size).  Gauge: Gauge is not necessary to measure as different yarns and hook sizes can be used for different effects. Notes: The first 3 chains of the chain 5 at the beginning of each row counts as a dc, squaring off the edges as your scarf grows.   If you wish to make a wider scarf, Repeat the sections in brackets [ ] in each row. Each repeat will be nearly double thes width of the scarf as written.  Due to the lacy texture, blocking is recommended for the best results. As the leaves increase from the center of each row, the ends will be angled, making this pattern fit best as an infinity scarf.

Chain 31 [a multiple of 23+8 for each repeat of the width]

Row 1: Dc in the 8th chain from the hook, [dc in the next 8 chains. Ch 2, skip the next 2 chains. 3 dc in the next chain. Ch 2, skip the next 2 chains. dc2tog, 3 dc, dc2tog. Ch 2, skip the next 2 chains, dc.] Turn.

Row 2: Chain 5 [Skip 2 stitches. Dc2tog, 1 dc, dc2tog. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches. Dc inc, 1 dc, dc inc. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches. Dc2tog, 5 dc, dc2tog. Ch 2], skip 2 stitches, dc. Turn.

Row 3: Chain 5 [Skip 2 stitches. Dc2tog, 3 dc, dc2tog. Ch 2, 3 dc into ch2 space, ch 2. Dc inc, 3 dc, dc inc. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches, dc3tog. Ch 2], skip 2 stitches, dc. Turn.

Row 4: Chain 5 [Skip 5 stitches. Dc inc, 5 dc, dc inc. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches. Dc inc, 1 dc, dc inc. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches. Dc2tog, dc, dc2tog. Ch 2], skip 2 stitches, dc. Turn.

Row 5: Chain 5 [Skip 2 stitches. Dc3tog. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches. Dc inc, 3 dc, dc inc. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches. 1 dc in each of the next 9 stitches. Ch 2], skip 2 stitches, dc. Turn.

Row 6: Chain 5. Skip 2 stitches. [Dc2tog, 5 dc, dc2tog. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches. Dc inc, 5 dc, Dc inc. Ch 2, skip 5 stitches], dc. Turn.

Row 7: Chain 5 [Skip 2 stitches. 1 dc in each of the next 9 stitches. Ch 2, 3 dc in ch2 space, ch 2. Dc2tog, 3 dc, dc2tog. Ch 2], skip 2 stitches, dc. Turn.

Repeat rows 2-7 until the scarf is your preferred length (recommend 60” for infinity scarf, approximately 126 rows, though this will vary based on gauge). When completed, fasten off and sew in ends. If making an infinity scarf, fasten off at the end of a row 6 repeat, leaving a tail long enough to sew the ends together. Block for best results.
