When it comes to lacrosse equipment, many parents have asked me “what to buy” and “where to buy it”. And I understand that these questions can be both complex and intimidating. Not to mention expensive if you are not careful. This document is meant to educate and simplify the process a bit. But be warned, lacrosse gear fit and feel can be much like buying a pair of running shoes. If the width, weight, length, material, cushion, flex, etc. isn’t quite right, then it can be annoying and distracting for the player. In other words no one size or model fits all. So listen to your player and ensure they try on the equipment whenever possible before buying it. First, let’s explore what to buy: Safety is the number one priority of our Program. Each parent needs to ensure their player has the proper equipment. And each coach must ensure every player has the required equipment before and during every practice and game. I use the US Lacrosse Equipment guide: http://www.uslacrosse.org/sites/default/files/public/documents/safety/us-lacrosse-equipment-fit-guide.pdf The following is applicable for “field players” (attack, middies, & defenders) LACROSSE GEAR BUYING GUIDE
