SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL
The members of the SVDP La Purisima Conference, would like to
thank everyone for the continuous support. Last year 2015, we
were able to assist almost 300 people. For a total of $30,541.00.
With your generous donations we helped with clothing, food, rent
and utilities. Keeping families clothed, warm, fed, and housed, is a
gift from all who have donated. This Saturday & Sunday there will
be a SVDP’s collection. We thank you in advance for donating to
this wonderful Ministry. God Bless! We are now going to begin
our Toy drive for our Christmas H.O.P.E. (Helping Others Provide
Enough) store. Last year we had 97 families, and over 250 chil-
dren, that received 3 toys each. It was such a success. The par -
ents were allowed to select 3 gifts per child and wrap them before
leaving. These gifts are at NO COST to the parents. If you wish to
donate a gift, you may deliver them to the Pastoral Office, or to the
pre-school.
Thank you
SVDP La Purisima Conference.

DID YOU KNOW?
Pool safety is about more than swimming Swimming is a fun way to have some fun and beat the heat during
the summer. Parents should teach their children about swimming
safety, including how to identify and handle uncomfortable situa-
tions. Although you may be watching closely to make sure your
kids are safe in the water, don’t forget about when they’re walking
around, sitting out by the pool, using the restrooms or out of sight.
Teach your children what to do when they feel uncomfortable at
the pool, and let them know it is okay to walk away and find a par-
ent or trusted adult at any time. For more information and a copy of
the article called “Know the Rules…Summer Safety Tips to Teach
Children” from the National Center for Missing and Exploited,
email: [email protected] or call 213-637-7227.

CONFESSIONS
A few weeks ago I asked you to reflect upon the gifts of the
Sacrament of Reconciliation and to give me your thoughts as to
the best time and date to celebrate the sacrament. Your response
to the survey was very helpful to me and the staff as we prayer-
fully considered the options. Based upon your comments the
following modification will be made regarding the day of the
week, the time of the day and location. The Sacrament of Rec-
onciliation, God’s loving forgiveness, will be celebrated every
Friday morning from 7:15-7:45 a.m. and beginning again at
7:00 p.m. on Friday evening.
Confessions by appointment will still be available for those
wishing to receive God’s forgiveness face to-face.
Based upon your responses we will once again utilize the con-
fessional. We will also make some modifications so as to make
the penitents side more accessible.
Summary: Our new Confession schedule, starting on Fri-
day, August 19, 2016 is: Fridays 7:15 - 7:45 a.m. and begin-
ning again at 7:00 p.m.
