    Metro BusOur buses travelmost major streetsin the county, o=eringdi=erent types ofservice. Metro Localroutes stop aboutevery two blocks andare painted orange(some are white withorange stripes). MetroRapid routes are faster,because they stop onlyat major intersections;they are painted red.Metro Express routestravel long distanceson freeways and makevery few stops; they arepainted blue.

    Metro RailThe Metro Blue, Green,Red, Purple and Goldlines comprise MetroRail. There are a totalof 62 stations in thesystem, each o=eringmany bus connections.

    Metro Orange LineThe Metro Orange Lineis a bus-only transitwayrunning east and westacross the San FernandoValley between NorthHollywood and WarnerCenter. Vehicles on thisline are painted silverand called Metro Liners;they stop at 13 stations,operating very much likeMetro Rail trains. Manybus connections areavailable at each station.

    Note: Metro Rail and the MetroOrange Line operate on the honorsystem. There are no conductorsto collect tickets or gates to passthrough. But Los Angeles Sheri=sDepartment fare inspectors randomlycheck to see that passengers havevalid tickets or passes. You maynever be checked; but if you are andyou dont have a valid ticket, the fareinspector may issue a citation andyou may be fined.
