YOUR STEWARDSHIP TO GOD
I am truly overwhelmed by your love and support. The Lord has been very good to me in my irst priest-ly assignment here in Abbeville. These three years have been much more than I ever could have imag-ined or hoped for. Time and again, you showed me the power of the Lord at work. .The Lord certainly changed my life in calling me into the Priesthood of Jesus Christ, but he also shaped my life and pushed me in new ways through each of you. So, I thank you for your idelity to the Church, for your love for the Eucharist, for your reliance on the Lord in the confessional, and for your spirit of willing service to this Church and community. I will always remember very fondly my time with the people of St. Mary Magdalen and Fr. Louie as graced moments of growth and of encouragement in the priestly ministry. It is dif icult to leave, but I am illed with a sense of peace as I see Fr. Don Bernard moving in to this won-derful community. Fr. Don is a friend, a cousin, a man of great love, and a joy-ful shepherd. I know that in him, you are receiving an Associate Pastor who loves you as much as I do. My inal weekend celebrating Corpus Christi was a remarkable delight for me. There is no more beautiful moment for a priest than to lead willing hearts in worship of God in the True Presence of the Eucharist. Thanks to all who worked so hard to put on the re-ception at Magdalen Place. I know it was a lot of work and a huge group effort. Many thanks for your unseen sacri ices. . Now, I’m off to where the Lord calls me next. I leave for Rome with a heart renewed in trust and in love. After visiting family for about two weeks, my light to Rome departs on the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel -Tuesday, July 16. And I know our Blessed Mother will watch and protect me in these years of study. Please keep me in your prayers and be assured of my continued prayers for you. Con-tact Sr. Carm or Deacon Billy for more information. BISHOP’S MEDAL JULY 21ST @ 7AM MASS George and Lou Veazey will be presented with the Bishop’s Medal in honor of the Feast of St. Mary Magdalen. George and Lou, have been active in many min-istries in the parish. They show particular care for the elderly homebound and the poor. They have been long-time supporters and very active in ful illing the parish mission and in prayer here at St. Mary Magdalen. Because George and Lou show, by their very lives and actions, how vital faith and commu-nity is to their family, it is an honor to recog-nize their wonderful witness to the gospel, Sunday, July 21ST at 7AM Mass.

BOOK SIGNING - JULY 27 and 28 Deacon Francis Cao has completed a book of Homi-lies and Gospel Re lec-tions, Where is the Spirit of Truth. He will be available for book signing on the weekend of July 27-28. In this book he stresses the importance of re lect-ing on the Gospel as a way of becoming closer to Je-sus and living the spiritual life. $5 from each book will go toward ACTS retreat funds. Books are available for purchase.
JULY 4TH -The parish of ices will be closed on July 4TH. 6:30AM Mass as usual. There will be no exposition and scheduled Adora-tion hours, the chapel is available for private prayer. Gracious Creator, on this Independence Day, I am reminded of all those who have sacri iced for my free-dom, following the example of your Son, Jesus Christ. Let me not take my freedom, both physical and spiritual, for granted. My freedom cost others their very lives. Help me to live my life with gratitude and give me the strength to be a blessing in someone's life today. Amen

Thank You to all who partic-ipated in the wonderful cele-bration of Fr. Michael Rich-ard’s three years at St. Mary Magdalen. The Adult Choir provided wonderful music. Laurie Legere was an excel-lent organizer, Mary Ellen Sonnier provided Magdalen Place and a great deal of direction and oversight.
Many parish or-ganizations and individuals con-tributed to the reception: Catholic Daughters, Altar Society, Carmelites, ACTS Community, Knights, Brandon Gallet made a wonderful jamba-laya, Tammy Coa brought egg rolls, Mario Cao provided chicken wings La Bon Manager donated the pasta and the extraordinary cake was baked by Judy Broussard. John Aucoin took video and pictures. If we’ve missed anyone or group know you are appreciated! It was a lovely Celebration.
