    2 Training Preparation

The training held on July 15th, 2009 at Chan Trea District, Chres Commune, Svay Rieng Province at the house of a Demonstration Farmer having built biodigester plant. It was orga-nised by COMPED in cooperation with NBP (National Biodigester Programme). The partici-pants were invited by NBP. They are authorities, biogas plant owners, potential farmers, NBP masons. Posters and leaflets were handed over to participants. NBP posters are about the benefit and application of biogas and were exposed to the participants.

    3 Training Performance

The training REEPRO Level 3 Course 3 on Biomass was taken place in the form of presen-tation by:

3.1 Presentation Presentation by using banners: • Presentation on Biodigester Plant by Mr. Khlok Hymany (NBP)

    • Introduction of Biodigester Plant

    • NBP Programme

    • Inlet Tank

    • Biogas Storage (Plant)

    • Outlet Tank

    • Economical, environmental, health and social benefit

    • Before and after have biodigester plant

    • Biodigester Operation and Maintenance

    • How to maintenance Main Val, Stove Val, and Lamp • Presentation on Slurry by Mr. Prach Salorn (NBP)

    • Introduction of biogas slurry • Slurry storage and management for efficiency use

    • Dig a Hole and roof construction for slurry storage for using long time

    • Advantage of slurry

    • Using Slurry for plant crops and raise animals

    • Using Slurry for pesticide

Posters show on benefit of biogas plant and usage of slurry

    3.2 Discussion

Discussion made by Question and Answer:

Q: Why after biogas plant constructed we need to cover the land?

  • REEPRO - Promotion of the Efficient Use of Renewable Energies in Developing Countries Training Documentation Report

Promotion of the Efficient Use of Renewable Energies in Developing Countries EIE-06-256 REEPRO

    3

A: Because when inside the biogas plant produced a lot of gas it cans make the biogas plant crack. So if we cover the land, it’s equivalent between outside and inside density.

Q: How to clean bio-digester plant?

A: Open the plant’s gas flow controller to release remaining gas, test by putting with chicken after that we can enter and clean the plant.

Q: How long should we clean the plant?

A: Check the gas meter indicated lower gas yield produced.

Q: When turn the main gas flow controller off?

A: We turn off the main gas flow controller when we stop use the gas, sometime we turn off the kitchen’s gas flow controller and lamp’s gas flow controller. But if it is not tightly turned off, the gas leaked.

Q: Why the gas meter indicated to the lowest point?

A: because the biogas plant leaked somewhere.

    3.3 Conclusion

Most of invited participants were very interested and happy with the innovation. As men-tioned, they are motivated by energy supply and slurry for their agricultural crops. The train-ing strongly met the participants’ expectations and filling the gaps of the participant’s doubt. It provided further knowledge on operation and maintenance, advantage of slurry from bio-gas plant. Moreover, main output of the training is the dissemination and promotion of re-newable energy to the community level and local authorities on the approach and raises their awareness.

    4 Questionnaire Evaluation

Questionnaire for this Level 3 was not given. It is kind of dissemination workshop to grass-root level. However, from the procedures and discussion in the training, the trainees were very impressed about the promotion of the efficient use of renewable energy-biogas in their area in accordance with financial arrangement of loan with low interest from local micro-financing.

    5 Training Documentation
