Participants: 27 participants attended the course. They are NBP mason and NBP construction companies

Success: On the first day, this training was commenced by Mr. Than So-kun, COMPED representative gave the background of REEPRO project in Cambodia and Lao and the purpose of the training. It was followed by Mr. Meng Chanvibol, Technical Manager of (NBP) expressed welcome speech to all participants who joined the training and introduction about NBP. After that, Mr. Meng Chanvibol, Technical Manager of NBP presented the schedule of the two days of the training. Presentations were subsequently given afterwards such as Progress and Problem and QC and CR, exercise, and discussion; Highlight the critical point on Con-struction Manual, Principle of biogas plant construction.

On the last day, It was reviewed about Technique to Build the Plant with Ground Water Issue; Highlight the Critical Point on Construction Manual; Slurry and Extension; Entrepreneurship; Group discussion and presentation and followed by summary result of the training.

2 Training Preparation

The training held on September 29th-30th 2009 at Department of Agriculture of Svay Rieng Province. It was organised by COMPED in cooperation with the NBP. The participants were arranged and invited by NBP based at the Department of Animal Health and Production. Manual book, presentation slides were handed over to participants as hard copies for all trainees. NBP Posters about benefit and application of biogas; Renewable Energy Poster and PV posters were exposed to the participants. LCD projector and white screen stand were taken care by COMPED.

3 Training Performance

The training REEPRO Level 2 Course 1 was opened by Mr. Than Sokun, COMPED repre-sentative giving the remark on renewable energy such as wind energy, solar energy and biomass energy, which biogas option is the most appropriate for Cambodia situation. The training session was given in the form of feedback, presentation, questions and answers as below:

3.1 Presentation

The training REEPRO Level 2 Course 1 on Biomass was taken place for two days as below:

• Slurry and Extension • Slurry Management for Efficiency use • Dig a Hole and roof construction for slurry storage for using long time • Advantage of slurry usage • Using Slurry for plant crops and raise animals • Using Slurry for pesticide

• Mr. Chau Kim Heng, Director of COMPED Presentation on: • Entrepreneurship • Definition of Entrepreneurship • Characteristics of Entrepreneur • Entrepreneur Cycle • Exercise with characteristics of two people who willing to run the business.

The Participants share in two groups and presentation for each group about result of the exercise.

• End of the training all participants write down all the problem issue in the past and re-quest. After completed of all problems issue filling we share in two group and made the presentation for each group and solve the problems together also with the requesting.

• Finally, the training was show the video clip about how bacteria work in side the biogas plant? Then summary the training course by Mr. Meng Chanvibol, Technical Manager and closed the training course.

3.2 Discussion

Discussion made by Question and Answer:

Q: what’s problem when we increase or change the size of first outlet?

A: We couldn’t change the size in the plan because it does not increase anything or the gas.

Q: What problem when we leave the brick wall and continue another day?

A: it’s no problem but when we start to do it continues we must apply the water to the entire old brick wall.

Q: How can we do with biogas dome leaked?

A: Take out the dung from inside the dome by pumping and allow the CH4 out and keep it till we can go into the dome.

Q: What the warp of the plant can support with the pressure?

A: It depending on many things but if we allow the biogas plan it is no problem. The quality that can support with the pressure including depend on brick, Cement and temperature among construction of biogas plant.

3.3 Conclusion

Most of the participants invited are NBP mason and NBP Construction Company. The train-ing strongly met the participants’ expectations for enhancement their abilities and pro-vided more knowledge for Construction, Operation and maintenance, strongly command to participants about advantage of slurry from biogas plant and share the knowledge to the farmers.

4 Questionnaire Evaluation

Most of participants are at high school educated. They strongly agreed that the training met their expectation (see Figure 1) and relevant to their working field (see Figure 2) and future plan of work (see Figure 3). The training did give practical enough to the participants (see Figure 4). However, half of them expressed that the training last too short. They would like to have further training in business issues. The training materials were appropriate and the trainers helped them to understand.
