The Rotary Club of Parker Board of Directors has approved the proposal for membership for Dave Gardner. If anyone has any objections, please notify President Lindy Blackburn within seven days.

The Rotary Club of Parker had a surprise visit from John Gile who moved and transferred his membership to the Centennial Rotary Club. John brought guest Hank Silverman along with him to introduce him to our club. Come to find out, Hank bought John’s home in Parker! We hope to have Hank come again soon. Thanks John, we hope you visit again soon.

Happy National Librarian Day, 4/16! Public libraries are one of the backbones of any community. Their roles have evolved over the years, and so have the functions of librarians. They now serve more like information managers and resource guides. Modern day librarians are proficient in a vast array of search engines and data bases which are never endingly changing. Perhaps unappreciated, a typical librarian has a Master's degree and is technologically savvy beyond the computer skills of most of us. They are an enormously important resources to the community, both for the old and young, rich and poor. Perhaps you can find time in your busy day to tell a librarian how much those in his/her profession have meant

to you.

APRIL 29

By Mike Oldham

It is hoped that as many of our members as

possible will attend this event which is being

held to inform youth in our community, that

over the past year have been associated with

our Rotary Club, and their parents and

siblings, about the benefits that Rotary has to

offer to them in their futures. The second goal

of this event is to determine if the parents of

any of these youth would like to consider

becoming a member in our club. Along toward

the end of this month emails will go out to the

parents and students asking for RSVPs for this

event.

I will circulate a clip board asking club

members to sign up to attend and bring a

guest if they like. My plan is to prepare an

agenda well in advance and ask our president

and president elect, and Youth Service

Chair, to speak to this group. Refreshments

will be served.

If you have questions please let me know. This

function is an activity of your club's

Membership and Youth Services committees.

Thanks, Mike Oldham

State of the Town REVIEW

LAST WEEK: Ponderosa High School

Student of the (last) Month: Blake Runyan

Lisa Frizell, Douglas County Assessor

* 1st job, Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, E. Hartford, CT. (manufacturer of jet engines). Worked on the development team of the first commercial high by-pass fan engine (JT9D) used on the first wide body aircraft (B747). Met Janice, she worked in a separate department. We got married a little over a year later. During my first year, I had close encounter with Charles Lindbergh during his tour of Pratt & Whitney. * Moved to Phoenix, AZ and began working for Garrett Airesearch, now Honeywell, as a Project Engineer. I was involved in a new industrial turbine engine program, from design stage through development to production in 3 years & within budget. First customer was in the gas fields of Australia. * Moved to Denver and began working for Sweeney Tool Company (Industrial & Aero engine tools) as their Aero Tool Design Manager. One month after I arrived, company was sold to Sargent Industries. Some years later, Sargent was purchased by Dover Corp. They down sized the company, moved the manufacturing to their Waukesha Bearing plant in Antigo, WI. I was promoted to their Aero Product Manager (responsible for tool design, sales, marketing, and profit margin). Traveled world-wide for about 7 years. Made 2 round the world business trips. Managed over 20 international regional & in country reps. * Began working for Advance Mfg. Co., W Springfield, MA, as a Sales Manager. I worked out of my home office until I retired in 2006. * I enjoy nature/landscape photography as a hobby and part time business. * We have three grown boys, two are pilots & one is a Mechanical Engineer.

He primarily focuses on patent law, but also assists clients with obtaining trademark protection for their business names and brands. Pat mainly works with inventors to prepare patent applications that will be examined by the US Patent Office, and represents his clients’ interests throughout those proceedings. His practice also includes advising clients that have been accused of patent infringement, or who believe a patent of theirs has been infringed upon. While much of his work is with large corporations, government entities and mid-sized companies, he enjoys working with startups and entrepreneurs whenever he has the chance. Pat received his law degree from Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon, his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech, and a masters in electrical engineering from the University of South Florida. Prior to law school, he served as a principal engineer in the nuclear power industry.

Meet Ron Beller Retired after 41 years in the Aerospace industry. BS Mechanical Engineering & MBA degree through the CU Denver Executive MBA program.

Meet Pat Kendrick Pat is a registered patent attorney licensed to practice law in Colorado, Wyoming and Minnesota.
