Rev. J. Thomson,
With the help of our Chicago Presbytery, your name was given to me.
Our Couples Club of the Southminster Pres. of Glen Ellyn, Ill. took up a donation of money instead of the usual grab bag gift for our Christmas party. It was suggested to send the money to Mrs. Lee Oswald. Our news-papers, etc. would not give me any information on how we could get the money to her. I would appreciate your help.
I was wondering if somehow you could see that she gets it. I know it might make a Christmas a little happier for her and the little ones. I don't know if you could see her in person or forward it by mail. Would you please do either for us? The Couples Club would really appreciate it. If it's not too much more to ask, could you drop us a line and let us know.
Thank you so very much,
Yours in Christ,

Nov. 25, 1963
Rev. James Robert Thomson 1600 Patterson St. Dallas, Texas
Dear Mr. Thomson:
After the service Sunday evening, one of our Elders gave me the enclosed check for Mrs. Lee Oswald. Dr. Wilcox (Ph.D. in cancer research) is a very mature Christian, and has done outstanding work with our Senior Highs. She felt great compassion for Mrs. Oswald and her -hildren, strangers in our country, facing the horrible stigma of her husband's act. (Whether ie's guilty or not, she will never live it down.)
She asked that I telephone a minister in Dallas and ask him to handle it, so that it would each her. I don't happen to know anyone in Dallas, although my uncle, E. P. Smith, served in he National Missions in East Texas for many years.
I selected your name because from the name of the church I guessed that yours is a down-own church, and you might be more likely to have contacts which would enable you to get in touch vith her. I realize that this is an unusual request, and may involve some difficulty, but I feel hat it is certainly in the spirit of the Master, and is a tiny gesture of the reconciliation which is >o essential in the present stress. We will appreciate your help.
This morning in our memorial service I reminded our people of the guilt all of us must hare in creating a society which produces such hatred and violence, and challenged them to take .p Christ's ministry of reconciliation, after being first reconciled to God through Christ.
We are adding a small amount to Dr. Wilcox's gift, and hope you can get it to Mrs. Oswald, .o let her know that there are some who do feel compassion for her.
Yours in Christ,
JAMES B. DOUTHITT
