Behavior Contract In order for us to easily get along and be productive in the classroom, you have to know and follow my expectations and rules! Please read over the rules, expectations, and procedures below and sign the

bottom portion with a parent. I will hold you to this contract of good behavior throughout the semester. Please make the decision to follow the rules. Thank you!

----- ----- ----- RULES By following these basic rules we will have a great classroom environment for learning!

R – espect yourself, others, the content, and me with your actions and your language. O – bserve your surroundings and join seamlessly.  M – aterials must be ready and brought to class. A – ttitudes stay positive.

The rules will be posted at all times on my cart 😊. ----- ----- -----

    EXPECTATIONS Class Participation:

    ● Class Participation and Bell Work grades fall into participation. ● Participating ensures that you are not only paying attention to the material, but also that you are applying your new

skills and improving upon them! ● You can receive up to 2 points each day for participating in discussions, working in small group and whole class

settings, and working on all classwork. Grades will be entered on Infinite Campus on a weekly basis. If you partially participate you will receive partial credit and refusal to work will earn no credit.

    ● Bell Work will be worth 2 points a day . Full credit is earned by attempting each question and participating in review of the material. Bell Work will be submitted weekly and grades will be entered accordingly.

Homework: ● Homework will be assigned most days and should not take longer than 30 minutes to complete. Unless otherwise

noted in class, any homework may be worked on with a partner or group.  ● Keep up with homework assignments as Latin skills build upon one another. If you have questions, be sure to ask

them when we check homework each day!

Beginning of Class: ● Go to your seat and get out your class materials. Place your homework on the corner of your desk.  ● Complete the Bell Work posted on the board or on your desk. You will have 5-10 minutes to complete this after

the bell.  ● Note the daily agenda on the board and any homework assignments listed below the agenda. ● Once you are finished do not be disrespectful to those working around you by talking.

Arriving Late: ● Observe your surroundings and join seamlessly. Do not make a big show of arriving late to class.  ● Hand your note to me and begin working. Either a classmate or I will catch you up shortly. ● Remember that 4 tardies result in a referral.

  •

During Class: ● Raise hands! ● If you need to leave the classroom, take the appropriate pass after you have asked.  ● Completed assignments are turned into the “box” designated for your class.  ● Personal devices and technology should not be out or in use.

End of Class: ● Remain in your seat until I release you! (We will always say Valēte/Valē! ) ● Students are responsible for classroom clean-up and organization. Throw away your trash as you leave and push in

    your chair.

    ----- ----- -----

    Academic Honesty

Unless otherwise noted in class, any homework may be worked on with a partner or group. However, cheating on any test, quiz, or project will earn no credit. I will not, under any circumstance, tolerate plagiarism on any work. This is your only warning. The first offense will result in a referral.

Late/Makeup Work It is vital that you keep up with homework and classwork. Much of our content builds, so missing assignments will hurt your grade and ability to keep up.

    ● Missing homework can be turned in 1 day late for ½ credit.  ● Late Projects will lose 10% per day late.  ● If you miss class, you may make up all missed work within 3 class days. If there are extenuating

circumstances please talk with me so we can make a plan for you.

    ----- ----- -----

Discipline Plan and Consequences If you choose to break a rule or not meet expectations, there will be consequences.

1st time: You will receive a verbal warning. 2nd time: I will speak with you after class and I will contact your parent(s). 3rd time: You will receive a referral and will go to the office. Do not let things go this far.

If you choose to follow the rules and expectations, there will be rewards! Praise in class Positive notes/calls/emails home Candy or Latin-themed

    games/movies

----- ----- ----- STUDENT: I have read the Syllabus and Behavior Contract and understand what is expected of me in World Geography. I will honor the rules and expectations while in the classroom and accept the consequences if I break a rule.
