STABLING

R175.00 per night per horse. Stall ions, as indicated on the entry form, will

receive priority, stable requests will be given consideration but please understand we are not able to meet all stabling requests. Use of stables not allocated and paid for prior to the show by ANY Competitor, horse or

owner, will result in the rider being disqualified from the show.

VARIATION OF PROGRAMME

The advertised programme and classes will be adhered to as far as possible.

However, in the light of unforeseen circumstances the Organising Committee reserves the right to cancel, combine, divide or postpone any class providing such alteration is within the frame work of Rules. In case of

bad weather competitors must contact the organisers on the contact details provided above. Refunds for cancellation or postponement will be made after deducting administration levy to cover direct costs.

RIDING TIMES

Times will be posted on KZN website, DSA website and a Newsflash will be sent to the KZN members on our database by 26 July 2016. Riders will be required to move up riding times to fill in scratching’s in the class. The onus is on the competitor to check the final starting order before the start of the class.

SHOW NUMBERS

Will be allocated and published with show numbers and this number must be attached to the LEFT-HAND SIDE of the halter/head collar and/or to the numnah / Bridle

CATERING Public Catering will be available at the Durban Shongweni Club House.

OBLIGATIONS

All Prize winners are obliged to attend pri ze giving correctly dressed. PRIZE GIVING IS COMPULSORY, if you do not attend prize giving you will forfeit

your prize money back to KZN Dressage and any gifts for donations from sponsors will be reallocated

EXERCISING and WARM-UP

The three dressage arenas on the bottom field are warm up arenas and are available and open all day. There is a new fibre warm up arena on the main field near the pond. The main warm up arena will have only 6 horses in at any one time; they will be the next two horses for each arena.

COMPETITION ARENA Please check with Durban Shongweni Club. The show holders hire of the venue is effective from the 29th to the 31st

DRUG TESTING DSA reserves the right to sample for prohibited substances from any horse or rider at this event.

PASSPORT

All horses entered in this show must have fully completed SAEF / SAEA or FEI passports. Passports must accompany the horse. Competitors whose passports are not up to date or incomplete (including vaccinations) will be fined per DSA / SAEF regulations.

AFRICAN HORSE SICKNESS AND EQUINE FLU

All horses must be vaccinated with AHS vaccine and with Equine Influenza and in accordance with the regulations laid out in the equestrian rules. Horses that do not comply may be refused permission to compete and can be asked to leave the show grounds.

CONDUCT

Any owner or rider who attempts to interfere with or influence judges, officials or stewards, or who at any time on the show grounds uses any contemptuous or abusive language to any of the judges, officials or stewards will forfeit his/her rights to any prizes to which they might otherwise be entitled and will receive a yellow card to remove themselves and their horse from the grounds pending a disciplinary enquiry.

INDEMNITY RESPONSIBILITY

KZN DRESSAGE, SAEF, DSA, DURBAN SHONGWENI CLUB, SHONGWENI SHOWS, Sponsors, Officials and Stewards shall in no way be held responsible for any damage, loss, theft or injury sustained by owners of horses, riders, competitors, members of the public or any other person or their property whatsoever.

FREESTYLE TO MUSIC

Please bring 2 Audio cd’s correctly labelled with the horse’s name and class entered, to the show (one for back up) to be handed in to the show secretary by 29th July by 10.0am. Must be in MP3 Format. Can also be FlashDrive with backup cd.

PRIZES MONEY AND PRIZES

Minimum 40% of entry fees, excluding levies payable Plus Sponsorship. . No Prize money for recreational classes. Trophies and sashes.

The competitor undertakes to withdraw the horse from the event (with forfeiture of entry fee) if subsequent to entry it should develop, or should circumstances arise under which the competitor can reasonably be

expected to know that the horse has developed or may develop, any such disease or the ability to spread such disease. DSA, Dressage KZN, and Durban Shongweni Club, the Sponsors, the Organizers and any Officials appointed by

these bodies, shall in no way be held responsible for any damage, loss or injury sustained by owners, competitors, members of the Public or any other person or persons or their property at Durban Shongweni Club for the duration of the show. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY.

RULES: All current DSA Dressage 2016 and General Regulations (Dressage) 2015 Rules shall apply. SADDLERY AND DRESS As per DSA Dressage Rules, Section 33, all prize winners must present themselves mounted and correctly dressed. Failure to comply may result in the forfeiture of prize money, grading points, and any trophies and rosettes as per the relevant General Regulations as referred to above. Hard hats must to be worn at all times whilst mounted. BITS ALLOWED FOR ALL FEI TESTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

a. Novice 5 test – Snaffles only b. Elementary, Medium and Advanced 2 – Snaffles or Double bridles

c. FEI Small Tour, Medium & Big Tour – Double bridles only PROTESTS AND APPEALS As per the relevant General Regulations (Dressage) 2015 as referred to above. Any protests or appeals must be addressed to the Show Secretary, in writing, accompanied by a deposit of R500.00 for protests and R600.00 for appears for National Classes. R400.00/R500.0 for all other classes DRUG TESTING SAEF/DSA reserves the right to sample for prohibited substances from any horse, or

competitor at this event. PASSPORTS All horses entered in the show must have a SAEF Passport fully completed in all aspects and validated. Passport must accompany horse. Equine Flu and African Horse Sickness - all horses MUST be vaccinated against Equine Influenza and African Horse Sickness in accordance with SAEF Veterinary Regulations. Competitors presenting passports that are not up to date or contain omissions will be fined (DSA Rule 2016 - General Regulations Section 31) Dogs/stallions: Dogs must be on leads at all times. Stallions ridden by responsible Juniors and Adults are permitted. LUNGING: Horses may not be lunged in the warm up arena, or near the competition arenas, under penalty of disqualification WARMUP AND SCHOOLING: No-one other than the person entered to compete on a horse at the show may ride the horse from the 1st day of the start of the show until the end of your classes for the show, unless there has been a substitution of rider and except were applicable in the Para Rider classes. COMBINATIONS AND VICTOR LUDORUMS:

The horse and rider combination must be the same throughout all classes at the show, in all grades, in order for the horse to be eligible for the Championships and the Victor Ludorum.

Victor Ludorum is calculated from all three classes in your performance grade, provided that the same combination rides in each class

QUALIFIERS: Where there are more than 25 horse in a class, they will run as separate pools. Only the top 25

Horses will then qualify for the championship class and the balance shall be automatically entered into a Challenge/Consolation class. The list of qualifying horses and the order of riding, for grades in which qualification is required, will be posted on the scoreboard as soon as possible after all qualifiers have been completed. Please do not ask at the Secretaries’ table, as they will not have this information DURBAN SHONGWENI CLUB MEMBERSHIP:All competitors/riders who are not fully paid up Equestrian Members of the Durban Shongweni Club are subject to a Temporary Membership fee of R175 for the duration of the show. This is a legal requirement and is compulsory for all non members and members with fees outstanding. DSA MEMBERSHIP: All horses and riders not paid up members of DSA are subject to a additional fee of R65 per class MUSIC FOR FREESTYLES: Musical freestyles are open to both adult and junior riders from Preliminary grades and up, Riders who enter walk trot recreational classes may enter a Preliminary Musical Kur. Please email [email protected] to request a copy of the test if you are having a problem finding it on the KZN Dressage website. Pony riders musical kurs will be run from Novice grades and up – WHIPS are allowed for these classes, However, FEI Rules apply to FEI tests KZN BREEDERS CHALLENGE: Please ensure you notify the Showholder if you are registered / competing in this challenge. No callers or whips for any championship class. All championship classes to be ridden from memory .

If you have a horse graded advanced and you are not an open rider you can only compete in Small tour when you have the 10 points. Likewise, if you want to compete in medium Tour you need to have 10 points in small tour. You don’t have to upgrade your horse which means, if you have a horse which will do small tour and never do medium tour you just stay in small tour. You can try the medium tour if you have enough points. An open rider can compete in any grade above the horses grade as long as the horse has never been downgraded

Can be done instead of an individual Freestyle and will count towards victor Ludorum points as your freestyle score. It must be created from the freestyle test in your grade. In the event of a tie in points the percentages from the classes as listed above will be added together and

the combination with the highest combined percentages will be the winner of the Victor Ludorum.
