Kujawsko-Pomorskie is a region situated in mid-northern Poland, renowned for the beauty of its nature and Gothic architecture of its cities. An un-

questionable strong point of Kujawsko-Pomorskie is not only its central location but its good and diversified trans-port system: railway, airports, international and national roads. The region’s treasure is the medieval Old Town of Toruń, designated as a World Heritage Site by unesco.

Our greatest ambition is to improve the economic devel-opment. Special conditions for enterprises have been cre-ated in the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone and in the technological-industrial parks around the major cities. We spend every fourth zloty from our Regional Operational Programme to support such undertakings. The result of this strategy is, amongst others, the more frequent locali-zation of foreign investment in our region. Japan such as Orion, Sharp, Sumitomo Chemicals etc. We value our relationship with our Japanese partners and for that reason we organize every year a great classical concert with the Polish Symphonic Orchestra and Japanese maes-tro in the prestigious venue in Brussels, the heart of Europe.

Two capital cities of the Region, Bydgoszcz and Toruń, connected in 2008 in BiT City, are the essence of the best character of our Region. The important asset of the region is its human and intellectual potential. We have 31 schools of higher education, including 3 universities: Nature and Technology University and Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz, and the largest university centre in the north-ern Poland — Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.

In 2011 Kujawsko-Pomorskie is known for its rapidly de-veloping new social and economic infrastructure, the in-teresting history and culture, the unique architecture of its vibrant cities and last but not the least the optimism, with which we perceive the future we are heading for.

The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region offers a chance to relax, enjoy and participate in numerous tourist attractions. One of the strength of our region is its

variety, which is reflected in our cuisine, rich in color and taste. During our concert at the Theatre Saint Michel in Brussels you will have the possibility to try the best of our local delicacies, the goose meat-based dishes.

The goose meat as the favorite dish of the Polish mon-archs used to hold a special place in traditional Polish cuisine. Roasted goose with apples or with dried forest mushrooms, goose with sour cream or with red cabbage, smoked goose breasts or pâtés were famous dishes, relished by Polish noblemen during the centuries. And it seems that our ancestors had an excellent intuition. According to the recent research, goose fat is one of the healthiest types of animal fat, helping to decrease damaging cholesterol (ldl).

The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region is a centre of the Polish geese farms, where the animals are still fed with

natural feed, including grass, cereals and grain mix-tures. Therefore this goose meat is free from biological and chemical contaminants, and contains 23% of pro-tein and less than 4% of fat, that is 26% less than pork.

We want to promote the goose meat as one of the healthi-est meat you can find and we are committed to the revival of the old Polish tradition of eating goose dishes at St. Mar-tin’s Day on the 11th of November — affirmed recently the Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region, Piotr Całbecki. He is behind many initiatives promoting the goose meat, conducted in Poland and abroad.
