Overview:

KROSS Institute for Civil Service was established in 2004 under the aegis of Karnataka Region Catholic Bishops' Council (KRCBC) to full the long cherished dream of the Bishops' of Karnataka to start an institute to advance the career prospects of youth, who had the potential to join high ranking civil service but could not, due to lack of means.

There are many young people bright, talented and having the tenacity to compete in civil service exams but are handicapped by lack of ability to get access to quality coaching and up-to-date study materials. Some candidates opt out of the race due to lack of proper motivation or because of the mistaken notion that for a person with non-urban background, civil services placement is an impossible dream.

The Institute expects to bring civil service exam coaching within easy reach of the candidates and it hopes to full this mission by providing top quality training at the lowest possible cost.

The Institute was established for the sole purpose of preparing youth who are aspirants of UPSC, KPSC and other competitive exams. The Institute functions under the direct supervision of Karnataka Regional Organisation for Social Service (KROSS), which is the official organ of the KRCBC, established in 1983, to promote Social Concerns and Development in the state of Karnataka. KROSS renders yeoman service to the poorest of the poor, especially women, youth and children without discrimination on the basis of caste, religion, gender or community.

Civil Service Overview:

Civil Service continues to be one of the most coveted professions in the country. It is more about accountability and contributing to the society. The prestige associated with the IAS may be a vestige of the ICS since the British days. With nearly 25 other allied services, it constitutes the structure of governance in India, responsible for enforcing law and order, implementing policy decisions, conceiving projects, instrumental in all the revenue administration of the State etc. As one moves higher up the bureaucratic ladder, one may be heading any one of the myriad government departments ranging from tourism to education, industry to urban infrastructure, agriculture to public works, housing and so on.

A civil servant should discharge his/her functions by maintaining absolute integrity, allegiance to the constitution and the law of the nation, patriotism, national pride, devotion to duty, honesty, impartiality and transparency. To address this need KROSS Institute not only provides academic inputs but also grooms the youth to be value based leaders who besides discharging their duty honestly will safeguard and promote human dignity.
