Our office is a business place and our primary responsibility is to manage the daily operations of the school, First Aid, notices home, counter enquiries and parent payments for school activities. It becomes increasingly difficult when we are required to pass on messages to individual children in classrooms, especially when these classes might be in varying locations. It is also disruptive to the classrooms in question. A message will be passed on at the end of the day, however please bear in mind that the end of the day can be extremely busy. FUNDRAISING NEWS KPS Cinema Under the Stars – Saturday 14 th September Our main fundraising event for the year will be held on Saturday, September 14 on the school grounds. Stalls and activities from 4pm, movie event from 6pm. Cinema Sponsorship Opportunities and Donation Requests Do you have / work for a (local) business that is interested in sponsoring our Cinema event? Please contact Rachael via [email protected] for further information. We are seeking donations from families for hampers and stalls. We need for lollies, chocolates, canned soft drinks to make packs to sell on the night.

COOKING AND GARDENING WITH FC On Thursday the 8th of August Liz’s class, FC, had their second cooking and gardening session. They made some delicious fritters and yummy pikelets. In the garden they planted some seeds, visited the chickens and helped out with some general tidying up. While the weather was chilly, the rain held off and we were able to enjoy our morning tea outside in the gathering space. The children all had a lovely morning and shared some great reflections: ‘I liked planting sugar snap peas and sweeping the floor.’ Dash ‘My favourite thing was cracking the eggs to make the food. I cleaned up all the bark.’ Heloise ‘My favourite part was making pikelets because I like stirring them and flipping them.’ Ahmed ‘I liked picking up rubbish because it helps save the animals.’ Michael U ‘I liked flipping my own pancakes. We each got a turn at doing it.’ Grace ‘I liked to plant the seeds, it was fun. We planted snow peas and rocket.’ Eliza ‘My favourite part was planting because it was fun.’ Catharine ‘My favourite part was cooking pikelets I liked pouring the mixture in.’ Rory ‘I liked the taste of the fritter, and I liked cleaning.’ Munir ‘My favourite part was planting flowers because I like planting.’ Amelie ‘We got to pat the chickens and we got them on our laps. I like the black one because it’s really fluffy.’ Louis ‘I liked the jam pikelets and the plain pikelets. I never knew I liked pikelets so much.’ Talulah ‘I liked picking up the rubbish because I like picking up everything.’ An ‘I put a seed in the garden and I will wait for the flowe to grow up.’ Michael C ‘You put dirt in the pot. You put the seed in and press it down.’ Caitlyn ‘I planted peas. They will grow this big.’ Rose ‘I asked if I could have a hold of a chicken. It was really fun and they are really fluffy.’ Ray ‘I was chopping some spring onions. We ate them. I put the spring onion root into the ground. It will grow a plant.’ Raheesh ‘We needed to put milk in there. I did the whisking. We had to take turns with the whisking.’ Ella Thanks so much to our wonderful parent helpers who came along. From next week we will be cooking with the 5-6 classes. Please see the timetable below.

GET READY FOR THE KENSINGTON PRIMARY SCHOOL CINEMA UNDER THE STARS!

Kensington Primary School is proud to invite you to our Cinema Under the Stars event. The evening promises fun for the entire family – and offers an excellent opportunity to support our school, whilst mingling with our local community. Our Cinema Under the Stars event will be held on the 14th September, with gates opening at 4pm before the movie starts at 6:30pm. Cinema Under the Stars is the major fundraising event of our school year, and we hope to raise a total of $50 000 in 2019 for a new school playground! Toy Story 4 Come join Woody, Buzz and the gang as they embark on an adventurous journey! Toy Story 4 is set to become a family classic, which appeals to both kids and adults alike. The fourth instalment of this much-loved franchise has received rave reviews from critics and is sure to be a crowd-pleaser! What could be better than relaxing back under the stars and going on a journey with everybody’s favourite toys? Don’t forget to bring a rug to sit on. Entertainment The Cinema Under the Stars event will also include a ‘kid zone’ complete with face painting, nail painting, crazy hairstyles, a colouring competition and the KPS Speedway attraction. There will also be a lucky dip and mystery bottles to win. For the adults there will be both silent and live auctions, a raffle and a plant stall. As part of the celebrations, we have received a brand-new Ultra Medium Trampoline from our friends at Vuly Play , Australia’s most trusted manufacturer of outdoor playsets and safe trampolines . Valued at $799 (plus free delivery), the Ultra Medium Trampoline is designed to withstand Australia’s changing outdoor conditions and includes built-in safety features to protect even the littlest members of our family. What an outstanding prize for one lucky family to win! Food & Drinks We are pleased to announce that our Cinema Under the Stars event will have a delicious range of food and desserts on offer, to satisfy every movie-watcher! For the main course, there will be a sausage sizzle and food stalls available. For sweet-tooths, there will be a delectable dessert bar featuring a range of ice blocks, and a ‘decorate your own cookie’ station. There will also be all your favourite movie snacks including fresh popcorn, fairy floss and a healthy juice bar. It goes without saying that the Cinema Under the Stars would not possible without the support of our community and sponsors. Thanks to all – we look forward to a fantastic event!
