I have utilized my transferable skills seamlessly from a highly compliant medical waste disposal industry to event coordination and management by optimizing my abilities as an effective Project and Program Manager. I was raised in Dublin and attended both Ohio University and eventually graduated from Ohio State with a degree in English. I met my husband in college and we both joined our family business in our early 20's further establishing our brand in over 17 states. In 2004, we recognized the need for smaller generators and again started another business that quickly grew to six states and over 2,500 customers in the first 24 months. I managed the inside operations and outside strategic planning. My capacity to manage the diversity of both customer specific programs and highly critical and compliant projects was one of the fundamental resources for our growth. We were purchased by Waste Management in 2010 and immediately went to work for the waste giant. There were obvious lessons and achievements learned and earned. I am grateful for the opportunities but quickly saw how even a business as successful as WM can collapse when they consolidated our new division after only two years. In November of 2013, the Board of Directors for Heart of Powell (formerly Historic Downtown Powell) approached me directly to lead as Executive Director for the community of Powell's non-profit. My passion for my Community and my abilities in Program Management which also included cross-functional sales, compliance, law, accounting, HR and more allowed me to quickly embrace my new career. Coupled with my strong technical writing and verbal skills and extensive marketing experience, I was able within the first 10 months to increased our revenues by 53%, redesign our Communities largest event (The Powell Festival), created and added a 5k race that highlighted a specific Veteran's group as the beneficiary and created Oktoberfest in Powell with less than 60 days to plan and had an estimated 8k people attend in nine hours. I overhauled our social media and digital accounts by interjecting current and relevant verbiage and content and saw growth between 600% and 1400% in the first year. Our static website was re-branded and saw an increase in unique visits of 400% in the first year. I invigorated our volunteer base and brought on 72% more passionate community members as well. In addition, I began a very calculated relationship with our local Government and City officials (including both the Police and Fire Departments), our local Chamber of Commerce and other various community groups. I quickly recognized that there were very obvious missing links in creating a unified objective. Needless to say, I had more attendance at my committee meetings from all of these parties than my predecessors because I was relentless in fostering continuity and community spirit. One of my most rewarding achievements was being appointed to the Steering Committee for the City of Powell's 2015 Comprehensive Plan. As one of only 14 appointees, I am very proud of my participation in this extremely important and integral endeavor and am excited and anxious to see our hard work come to fruition as Powell continues to grow to be one of the strongest and most sought after communities in Central Ohio. I had and have achieved tremendous successes. I am not scared to push the status-quo. I am very forward thinking and am proud of my performance and achievements. I was deeply saddened when the Board of Directors for Heart of Powell chose to disband our business in 2015 as we were thriving and successful. My success was broadly recognized and I quickly established StratEvent as an Community and Program Strategist, Planner and Facilitator for large festivals and civic functions, fund raising to community outreach programs.
