Kororo Public School Hello Everyone, It is just under 3 weeks until the end of Term 1! This week’s Essential Conversations with teachers, parents and carers are well on the way. Working together ensures a successful learning journey for our students. I’ve heard positive reports about the meetings from all parties. Having a conversation together about our students gives our students every opportunity to reach their full potential. Kororo families play meaningful roles in the school decision making process through parent representative bodies, committees and other forums. P&C meetings, are a way to keep parents and the wider community up to date with school operations, strategic directions, wider education matters and to build strong relationships to support our students learning and to ensure all our students reach their full potential. By sharing planning, the school and P&C can decide how best to fundraise and how funds might be allocated. At the last P&C our fabulous cake stall and BBQ was organised for last week’s NSW Elections. An assortment of goodies that were donated by our Kororo School families were sold by our dedicated hard working parents, students and teachers on Saturday. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to such a successful fund raiser. Our Easter raffle needs to get started. We would like to ask all families to send in a contribution to the raffle some form of Easter egg, chocolate or Easter merchandise. All donations can be left at the front office. Each donation will receive a lucky ticket in our raffle to be drawn at the Easter Hat Parade on April 12 th at 9:30am. We are hoping that raffle tickets will be sent out to the eldest in the family this Friday. An accompanying note will give you all of the details. Week 9 Term 1 - 27th March 2019

If you have not returned your note to attend the parent information evening on the 4th April I urge you to come along if possible. The information the Police Officer presents is relevant and important. It is also a great time for parents to raise concerns and share strategies around managing social media.

Bullying versus Peer Conflict “Bullying is an ongoing and deliberate misuse of power in relationships through repeated verbal, physical and/or social behaviour that intends to cause physical, social and/or psychological harm.” Conflict is an important part of growing up but bullying is not. Conflict teaches kids how to give and take. They also learn how to come to an agreement and how to solve problems. Behaviours that do not constitute bullying include:

mutual arguments and disagreements

not liking someone or a single act of social rejection

one-off acts of meanness or spite isolated incidents of aggression, intimidation or violence. However,

these conflicts still need to be addressed and resolved.

If your child is experiencing bullying please get them to tell someone they trust.

P&C BBQ and BAKE STALL Thank you

The P&C held a very successful BBQ and Bake Stall on Saturday at the Elections held here at

Kororo Public School. Thank you to everyone who donated the baked goods, they were a real hit

and we sold out just after lunch!

To say thank you to all the volunteers who pitched in just doesn't seem like enough as it was a

huge effort and a pretty long day for some. We had an amazing team - Jo, Marina, Kelly, Kirsten,

Liz, Alison, Vicki and Helen - thank you so much, it happened because of you!

Thank you Mr & Mrs Bourke for popping in to assist and bring some lovely herbs as well.

Mr Portelli was BBQ King for a day and cooked over 100 bacon and egg rolls and over 200

sausages. Thanks to Ella and Kate for getting us out of there swiftly. Hats off to all the kids who

pitched in and helped - Sophie & Piper helped set up the bake stall and Kora and Tara for putting

in such a great effort selling food for 8hrs. Nate for his help with the BBQ and Riley for

returning to lend a hand! Well done. These children helped by serving, running for supplies,

setting up, packing down and gave parent helpers great entertainment to watch them smile

through it all. They should be proud of their dedication on the

day and for their great service to the school.

So thanks everyone!

Crazy Hair Day

On Wednesday 3rd April it will be Crazy Hair Day at school. Students can wear mufti clothes on this day

and have their hair crazy for a gold coin donation. All students must wear their school hat and covered shoes.
