1.1 Introduction to LTI Korea
LTI Korea, or the Literature Translation Institute of Korea, was established by the Korean to introduce Korean literature abroad. Main programs include support for translation and publication projects, promotion of international exchange programs related to Korean literature, recruiting and educating professional translators, and support for Korean publishers’ copyright export.

Opened in 2007 as a library and archive specializing in Korean literature. Collection includes Korean literature translated into thirty-three languages, wide range of audiovisual material related Korean literature, official writer bios, periodicals, and reference books on translation.
Operating hour: Monday through Friday (9:00am-6:00pm)

The LTI Library houses over 8500 books – greatest number of books are in English (1317), followed by Japanese and Chinese books. The library also donates books upon request to libraries that request Korean books translated and published through the LTI Korea grant programs.

The LTI Korea library has a continuous, systematic program that donates Korean literature in translation to major libraries around the world such as the Library of Congress and the university libraries at Duke and Harvard. We aim to make Korean literature more accessible to Korean Studies academics and general readers.
