  • 2Who Was Lady Zainab?Name: Zainab (as)

    Title: Siddiqua-e-Sughra

    Kuniyat: Umm-al-Masai

    Born : At Madina On 5th Jamadi-al-Awwal 5th Year after Hijra

    Grand-father: Holy Prophet of Islam(S.A.W.)

    Grand-mother: Umm-ul-Mumineen Hadrat Khadija-e-Kubra

    Father: Imam Ali(A.S.)

    Mother: Hazrat Fatima Zahra(A.S.)

    Sayyeda Zainab (s.a.), the daughter of Imam Ali (a.s.) and Sayyeda Fatima (s.a.). She was an exemplary woman of great ability, intelligence, knowledge, insight, courage and perseverance; she performed her divine duties to the best of her ability. She was born to a family formed by the Prophet (S.A.W.W), the most outstanding gure in history.

    The life of the daughter of Sayyeda Al-Zahra (s.a.) was always laden with hardships, but she never feared coping with difculties, this enhanced her endurance and elevated her soul.

    Her Shrine lies in the besieged city of Damascus, Syria.

  • 3Husayni Madrasah The Husayni Madrasah works to provide an atmosphere for

    attaining self-purication through obtainment of Islamic Knowledge which is incumbent on each and every Muslim. The Husayni Madrasah is the parent body of the Student Council Boys (SCB).

    This year the Husayni Madrasahs mission and vision is to nurture students to become Thinking and Practicing Muslims. The Madrasah has dedicated the academic year 2016 for the promotion of the Holy Quran and hence the mission for the year.

    The Husayni Madrasah is now implementing a revised curriculum for ve years starting 2016. The curriculum is titled FURQAAN. This curriculum will focus on the needs of the current times, local communities and needs of the students.

  • 4Husayni Madrasah EventsPARENT CONFERENCES

    The HMBS Management strongly believes in involving the parents of the Madrasah students in their education and has various initiatives to do so (including the newsashes). One such initiative is the Parent Conferences that are held before the academic year begins to expose the parents to the Madrasah policies & codes of conduct & to receive feedback from them. The conferences were held for the parents of the students of Classes 7 12 at the Bab ul Ilm Auditorium and were well attended by the parents.

  • 5Husayni MadrasahTEACHER ORIENTATION SESSION

    An orientation session for the teachers was also conducted to keep them informed of the Madrasah policies and codes of conduct as well along with the various initiatives the Madrasah has planned for the students.

  • 6Husayni MadrasahSTUDENT ORIENTATION SESSION

    On Saturday, 16th January 2016 an orientation session was held for the students of HMBS to give them a gist of the academic year ahead. The students were introduced to the Madrasah policies and codes of conduct and shown their classrooms to ensure a smooth start to the year on Monday, 18th January 2016. Parents are encouraged to always send the students to such sessions.

  • 7Development Society - 2016 The Development Society is one of the most active youth

    organisations within the Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Community of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It aims to "Learn for the Almighty, Teach for the Almighty, Serve for the Almighty.

    The Development Society, formerly known as Debating Society Of Husayni Madrasah, revived in 2007 under the leadership of Brother Aliabbas Manji, who is currently the Development Society Head Patron.

  • 8DS Student Council Boys - 2016 Student Council Boys, being partially responsible for organising events

    for the Madrasah students, as well as, occasionally for the whole community. Today we stand having more than 50 members divided in 8 different sub-committees.

    Each chairman is responsible for a specic kind of event, and has to organise at least one event every lunar month. However, the Communications chairman has to post frequently on the social media.

    Being in the student Council boys is a great learning process for the members and also, training for students to prosper in their future life.

    Student Council boys has been training students to meet deadlines, being responsible, independent and building various kinds of life skills covering various aspects.

  • 9DS Student Council Boys - 2016Recently Student Council welcomed a batch of new members who were elected by the Madrasah

    Students. The only position that is selected by the Patronage is of the CHIEF JUSTICE. The members are

    President: Abbasaley Abbas.

    Vice President: Aliasgher Rajani.

    Chief Justice: Murtaza Manekia.

    Secretary General: Ali Aseem Shariff.

    Principle Treasurer: Shaheed Ratansi.

    Capacity Building Chairman: Munahid Tawa.

    Communications Chairman: Ayyad Padhani.

    Knowledge Chairman: Irfanhaider Dewji.

    Outreach Chairman: Mohammed Mehdi Shabaan.

    Science Chairman: Salman Hameer.

    Spiritual Chairman: Hussein Mazaherabbas.

    Sports Chairman: Aliabbas Hameer.

    Welfare Chairman: Aliasgher Jaffer.

    SCB is open for class 8-12 in the Husayni Madrasah Boys Section, offering different positions under different sub-committees. However, SCB also welcomes students of class 7 to join. Their role is to observe and grasp the qualities of the committee members, so they are prepared to join, when they move to the next grade.

    The unique system that helps SCB to run is what makes them known throughout the country and also worldwide. They have committee meetings every week, which are always minuted. They prepare budgets and accounts for every event they organize.

    Having a Motto like:

    LEARNING, TEACHING AND SERVING FOR THE ALMIGHTY In itself summarises what Development Society does, it is all about

    participating in the activities that the Almighty is pleased with, as well as the Imam of the time.

    DS Student Council Girls - 2016 Student Council Girls (SCG) is a section of the Development Society

    which is under the Husayni Madrasah. It is a group of 11 enthusiastic teenage girls who come together to plan and execute events, under the banner of DS and the supervision of the patrons.

    They have a meeting once a week, where ideas are brought together to organize well planned events; to name a few - Majlise Zainabiyya, Adopt A Grandmother, Solidarity Parade and Non-baligha Iftaar on the 15th of Shaban, Biathlon and many more.. Always keeping in mind the motto of DS

    Learn for the Almighty, Teach for the Almighty and Serve for the Almighty alone.

  • DS Honorary Council Boys - 2016 The Development Society Honorary Council Boys (HCB) is one

    of the sections of the Development Society under the Tabligh Board which organizes events for the community at large.

    The council consists of nine members and two patrons. The Team meets every week to discuss ideas on ways to organize new and creative events for the community at large.

    To mention a few events which were organized by the HCB last year were Career Expo, Showing the Mukhtar Series at imambargha, Quds Day, Build your House in Jannah etc.

    We wish to continue the same pace as last year and inshallah organize more events.

    DS Honorary Council Girls - 2016 The Development Society rst introduced its ofcial Honorary Council

    Girls(HCG) committee in the year 2015.

    With majority of its members previously being a part of the Development Society, the best start up was to introduce Capacity Building sessions for the SCG. These sessions were conducted by the HCG themselves and was aimed at successfully introducing DS customs and procedures to the new members.

    Following that, some of the sales that were previously done by SCG, were conducted by the HCG including the Sisters Day, Mothers Day and Eid E Ghadeer sales as they were aimed to the community at a large.

    HCG was also successful in assisting other organizations such as the Tabligh Board and Africa Federation in their respective events. An Eid Festival was also celebrated at the Mosque Premises during the Holy Month of Ramadhan. To sum the year up. It has been a fruitful year with several opportunities to learn and grow.
