Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) – An autonomous Society set up in 1991 by Departmentof Information Technology (Ministry of Communication and Information Technology) Government ofIndia to make “ India a Global Information Technology power and one of the larges generator and exports ofSoftware in the world”.
STPI- Vijayawada started its operations in Sep’2001 with the objective of Promotion and Growth of ITIndustry and attract investments into the IT Sector that would eventually enhance the export operations of ITand ITES services.
STPI Jurisdiction Krishna, Guntur, West Godavari, Nellore districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Vision: To make VIJAYAWADA, the most preferred location for Software and Services.
Mission: To incubate and accelerate the growth of Softwaredevelopment enterprises by providing state of art facilities andInfrastructure support so as to make them sustainable, profitable andglobally competitive.
The IT/ITES Turnover reached Rs.50 Corers in FY 2009-10 withexports contributing amount of Rs. 22 Crores. Presently, 30 IT/ITEScompanies are working and the exports are to different countries andgiving employment opportunity to nearly 2200 Professionals.
Government of India offers various fiscal and other benefits and encourages setting up of IT Industry andgrowth across India. The benefits are offered through unique scheme “STP Scheme”. STPI is entrusted toimplement the scheme that has resulted in the growth of IT Industry across India with approximately 8500companies operating with an export of Rs.252374.09 crores during FY 2010-11.

Incubation Services:STPI offers state-of-art Incubation Facility (plug and play) ready for commencing operations by Software units.
It offers advantage of no gestation period and does not require any capital investment; It helps in developingconfidence in the client and ensures that the business opportunity is not lost.
The Incubation facility has cubicles, manager cabins, discussion rooms, conference halls along with otherfacilities like fully Air conditioned, Uninterrupted Power supply system, 24/7 security, stand by DG PowerSystem, Access Control, Fire alarm System etc.,

Statutory Services:STP Scheme:The Software Technology Parks Scheme is a 100 % export oriented scheme for Software development and IT enabledservices. Some highlights of the scheme are Capital Goods imported/procured domestically by the STP units arecompletely duty free.
EHTP Scheme:
Units undertaking export of their entire production of goods and services may be set up under the Electronic HardwareTechnology Park (EHTP) Scheme. Units engaged in manufacture and services will be encouraged to avail of this scheme,in keeping with the policy to give a special thrust to export of electronic hardware
Datacom Services:STPI is one of the first Data Communication Carriers of India. STPI also holds the Internet Service Provider (ISP) licensewith operational jurisdiction covering the entire country of India. STPI offers Leased Line services to the premiumsegment; where quality is of utmost concern.

The Government has announced first Information & Communication Technology (ICT)Policy in May 1999 for promoting the growth of IT Sector, generation of employment, andfor overall socio - economic development of the state. In the last five years, the contribu-tion of IT / ITES sector has had an unparalleled impact on the economy of the state, throughmultiplier effects on job creation, expansion in higher education, sustainable exports andincremental GSDP growth.
At present, Andhra Pradesh State contributes to 15% share of exports and ranks 4th inthe performance of IT Sector in the country. IT Sector contributes to about 49% of totalexports from all sectors in the State and contributies to 0.57% share of national GDP (asagainst the national GDB share of 3.83%).
