John King – Managing Director

John worked in the building trade for many years before taking a late career

break to study. It was while he was an architecture student at London’s

Metropolitan University that he became fascinated by year-round outdoor

living, which at the time was largely enjoyed overseas. Part of John’s

philosophy is to try to introduce people to new and exciting products you don’t

find at your typical garden centres He set up Kingspace 3 years ago and even in

that relatively short space of time the company has grown hugely. Part of its

success is due to John’s passion for being the first to offer innovative, luxury

outdoor products from abroad.

Ian Poate – Business Manager

Ian joined Kingspace in 2011 to develop the business and also act as our design

consultant. Ian worked for many years in customer service and later moved

onto the building trade in the luxury home improvement market. Ian has a

flare of truly understanding customers’ needs and designing bespoke outdoor

living spaces.

Felipe Klepacz – Architectural Technologist

Felipe is a fully trained architect who has worked on residential projects

ranging to large scale site projects of up to 500 houses to individual properties.

Felipe’s job at Kingspace is to utilise his skills to help our customers visualise

Kingspace products on their own properties.

The Kingspace Barbecue Lodge

The Kingspace Barbecue Lodge originates in Lapland and is called a "Grillikota" in Finnish. Originally designed by reindeer herdsman as a shelter with a kitchen, Kingspace is proud to bring the Barbecue Lodge to the UK for all year round entertaining.

All our Kingspace Barbecue Lodges are constructed from 45mm (nearly 2") thick double tongue and groove logs. The wood is milled from responsibly sourced, slow grown Scandinavian Spruce.

The Lodge is supplied with the complete barbecue/grill system, cooking grills, hood, flue, chimney cowl and table to go around the grill. Double glazed windows (all three windows open) and lockable door feature in the Lodge as standard. The roof comes with a choice of three shingle colours: Coral Black, Forest Green and Tile Red.

The base of your Kingspace Barbecue Lodge is constructed from treated timber, whilst the outer walls are untreated ready for your own personal touch! Wood is a natural product and if correctly preserved your cabin will last a lifetime.

The lodge is equipped with benches which can be turned to fit together to give you 2 double beds, each long enough so adults can stretch out. This makes the Kingspace Barbecue Lodge perfect for use both during the day for entertaining and at night for guest accommodation or sleepovers.

The barbecue/grill is designed to burn wood or charcoal and can be used as a fire bowl to create a cosy, snug atmosphere to bring everyone together or to cook for your friends in a brand new way.

Having a barbecue whatever the weather, at any time of the year, is wonderful. Book that barbecue party weeks in advance and tell your guests they definitely won't need a coat!

The Kingspace Barbecue Lodge is complete with a manufacturer’s warranty for 10 years on

the timber and structure and 2 years on all doors, windows and grills.

Kingspace Garden Studios with Reclaimed Cedar Cladding

The Kingspace Garden Studios have been finished with locally sourced, reclaimed Western Red Cedar cladding and are styled for customers who prefer modern clean lines and contemporary looks. The cedar has been reclaimed from Green Island in Poole Harbour from a beautiful cedar lodge, which was sadly destroyed by fire early in 2012.

Western Red Cedar is one of the most desired external timber claddings due to its rich colours, highly resistant to decay, is durable and contains natural preservatives. It is one of nature’s more versatile, adaptable and attractive species of timber for external timber cladding. The rich warm brown, red and pink colours and texture of the Cedar gives any building a touch of individuality that will blend into any environment. Western Red Cedar can be relied upon to give long and trouble free service under all conditions and is increasingly being specified for a more modern, contemporary appearance.

Kingspace Garden Studios are built bespoke to your requirements. Here are three CAD designs as examples of what can be built by the Kingspace team. Once we have completed the installation of your new Kingspace Garden Studio all you will need to do is decide on how best to utilise your extra living space! We are sure you will have no doubt already made your mind up long before completion but if you haven't then here are some suggestions:

Timber Decking & Traditional Timber Walls & Floor

Kingspace can include a timber deck to the outside of your structure. The timber decking can be added to the front or the front and sides of your building. Our highly skilled joiners can produce any design in, softwood, hardwood or composite. Kingspace garden studios are manufactured using traditional timber walls and floor. The walls and floor are constructed using heavy duty solid structural graded timber frames that carry the load of the building. The walls and floor are manufactured using C16 (British Standard) graded structural timber. The 150mm (6 inch) floor timbers are pressure treated and impregnated with Tanelith E wood preservative. Tanelith E pressure treated timber protects against fungal (rot) and insect attack to ensure a long life service. The high grade structural timbers are obtained from well managed, sustainable forests. The quality doesn't stop at the outside, the interior of these cedar buildings have been carefully designed with your needs in mind. Telephone and network cables have been incorporated into the construction, double electric sockets are fitted to every wall and ceiling lights can be positioned to suit your own specific requirements. A neutrally painted interior provides a clean and light space, finished with a choice of wood flooring.

Wall & Floor Insulation The timber walls are wrapped in a waterproof breathing membrane. This breathing membrane acts like a one way valve and allows natural moisture to escape out of the building - but prevents moisture from entering the building. To exceed the recommended U-values for building regulations and to provide a truly habitable outdoor garden room all timber walls and floors are insulated using 80mm thick Kingspan (cellotex) rigid thermal insulation panels. Kingspan is the market leader and its products are the most thermally efficient and technically advanced insulation products available today. Although Kingspan rigid thermal insulation is the most expensive form of insulation on the market it has many advantages and increased insulation values when compared to alternative forms of insulation such as mineral or animal fibre. A 80mm thick insulation panel is equivalent to approximately 250mm of mineral or animal fibre. In addition, by using the Kingspan solid insulation panels your building will not suffer from attacks by mould, fungi, mildew or vermin.

Plastering & Painting Inside all our garden rooms you will find traditional plaster boarded walls with a matte finish A professionally plastered wall gives a warm, elegant surface finish and will also help with sound insulation. It will also act as an additional heat insulation and will contribute to improved energy efficiency.

Internal Flooring The internal timber floor structure is completely covered in an industrial grade moisture resistant tongue and grooved timber floor boarding. The thick timber flooring creates a solid foundation for any additional floor coverings. As standard your garden room will be fitted with a walnut effect laminate wooden floor, other floor coverings are available by request.

Electrics, Lighting & Heating All Kingspace garden studios can be designed to include a comprehensive electrical package comprising power sockets, lighting and heating if required. We will also install a consumer unit to control the power coming into your garden room. All that your electrician needs to do is run power from your house, typically with an armoured cable, and connect to the consumer unit. We can also create a network for your telephone and internet systems.

These are the real thing, each with its own unique character, with no two ever being the same. Having been used for countless meals, the inside has developed a lasting oiled patina with the outside showing signs of years of use from an open fire. Up to 100 years of age, each Kadai has it's own unique, individual character, after being used by families at weddings and ceremonies placed directly above the fire to hear food for the guests. Cooking with ghee, the process has kindly oiled the bowl's plates, providing longevity to restart their life as our barbeque and firebowl. The Originals are heavy gauged metal. Each Kadai price includes the filter system, tongs and wire brush. Options include a choice of stand: Tripod Stand - at 9" in height, provides an ideal height for using the bowl, as a fire pit or for barbequing whilst sitting. Gothic Stand - at 18" in height, provides a more decorative stand to create a feature of the bowl and is a good height for cooking with friends whilst standing, or for an impressive elevated fire. To gauge the size of the Kadai you require, work out how many people your Kadai will need to feed and eat. For 6 to 8 people, a 70cm Kadai is ideal. 8 to 10 people would be better served by an 80cm Kadai, 10 to 12 people by a 90cm Kadai and so on. The large cooking area of the Kadai grills means that a wide range of food can be cooked and prepared for many at one time. See our accessories range to add to your menu offering.
