ENDEAVOUR LOG - Term 3 Week 5 - August 17, 2017.

Page 2: KINGS LANGLEY PUBLIC SCHOOL...very pleasing results with all aspects of Literacy and Numeracy above the State average for Public Schools in Year 3 and 5. As a school As a school we

A huge thank you to our wonderful school community who once again supported our Annual Book

Fair which was held during Education Week. An amazing $16301 was spent! Another record for

any fair I have ever run. The commission on these sales will be over $3500, which will be spent

on various resources for the library.

There were approximately 130 books donated to the library! We are working very hard in the

library processing all of these. Once processing is complete these children will be the first to

borrow. A full list of donors will be published in the next log.

I am only able to hold such a busy and successful Book Fair, and have it run smoothly, because

of the help of a number of special people. They gave up their own time, arriving early in the

morning, staying late or helping in their lunch times. These people are Mrs Michelle Portlock,

(office staff), Mr Jeffery Walker and Mrs Bev Hayman (teaching staff), Mrs Rhonda Maiden

(deputy) and my daughter Monica. Also our wonderful library monitors (Maddi, Miwa, Abby,

Philippa, Connor, Mia, Lillian, Lilliarna and Serene) who either helped out at Book Fair or

performed all the usual library tasks so that the library could still run successfully.

Illustrator Visit –

Liz Anelli

On Monday, August 14th (Week 5) our Kindergarten to Year 2 students had the

opportunity to meet and listen to Australian illustrator Liz Anelli. Books she has

illustrated include Howzat! Desert Lake and One Photo – which is short listed

this year by the Children’s Book Council of Australia.

It was a very interesting and enjoyable opportunity for our students.

As part of their on-going support for literacy at our school; the P&C kindly

cover the cost of this visit, so there was no cost to families.

If you are interested in finding out more about this illustrator her website can

be found at:-

Woolworths Earn & Learn 2017 Dear Parents,

This year we will be participating in the Woolworths Earn & Learn

program. Through this program we will be able to get new

educational resources for our school/early learning centre – and all

we need you to do is shop for your groceries at Woolworths.

From Wednesday 26th July to Tuesday 19th September or while stock lasts, we are collecting

Woolworths Earn & Learn Stickers. You will get one Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker for every

$10 spent (excluding liquor, tobacco and gift cards). Place the Woolworths Earn & Learn

Sticker onto a Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker Sheet (which can be collected from the office)

and when it’s complete, the Sticker Sheet can be dropped into the Collection Box here at the

school or at your local Woolworths. Otherwise you can just drop the stickers into the Earn & Learn box located in the front office.

At the end of the promotion, we’ll be able to get some great new equipment. The range is

extensive and offers lots of items ideal for our students – including resources for Maths, English,

Science and some fantastic fun supplies for Arts & Craft, Sport and for our library. If you’d like

to know more visit woolworths.com.au/earnandlearn

FATHER’S DAY

We are in need of donations for our upcoming Father's Day Raffle. Car washing kits, sporting goods, gift vouchers (in date), dvd's. Anything in good condition welcomed. Also in need of baskets for the raffle
