FOUNDATION AND VISION In our classrooms and on our sports pitches, our teachers and trainers emphasise the importance of teamwork and joint endeavour. We put the same emphasis on collaboration and enterprise across the whole of King’s Group. People are at the heart of everything we do. HISTORIC AND CONTEMPORARY Our secondary-age boarding school in Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire, dates back to 1856. Today, our excellent reputation for providing a first-class, British education in the heart of the English countryside attracts pupils from around the world.

Located in rural England, King’s College Saint Michaels offers pupils age 13-18 preparation for their GCSEs (General Certificate of Secondary Education) and A Levels.

The school has a broad mix of pupils from different countries, all of whom recognise the importance of a British education in preparing them for later life.

The school also offers shorter courses, such as specialist English courses and dedicated classes for pupils who have finished their schooling in their home countries, but who require extra guidance to help secure university admission in the United Kingdom.

At King’s College Saint Michaels, we put great emphasis on the personal attention we offer each student. The classes are kept very small and each member of staff acts as a personal tutor to a small group, keeping parents informed of their child’s progress and supporting pupils in all their work areas.

King’s College Saint Michaels is special to me because of the help and support I receive from the teaching staff. We also have the opportunity to join many educational excursions, while studying in a wonderful environment.

OUR FLAGSHIP COLLEGE The largest school in the Group is located in a leafy suburb, just 30 minutes from the centre of Madrid. The school opened in 1978 and educates children between the ages of 20 months and 18 years. There are also boarding facilities for those pupils who come to study from around the world.

Educating over 1,500 pupils at any one time, the College offers a truly international environment.

The school facilities give pupils the opportunity to experience a huge range of activities from sports to art and science. An equestrian centre, floodlit football pitch and a recently developed 3000 m2 sports hall with an indoor swimming pool, are a few highlights for physical fitness and competitive team sports. The school also boasts art studios, music rooms, a fully equipped auditorium and a new-build science block stocked with state-of-the-art scientific equipment.

Pupils from King’s College, Soto de Viñuelas, go on to some of the world’s most prestigious universities. Pupil success continues beyond higher education and many of our alumni enter into leading roles around the world in business, engineering and philanthropic ventures.

Tenbury House – A home at schoolOur boarding house provides state-of-the-art boarding facilities to 50 pupils from as far away as Bhutan and Kazakhstan. The international mix of boarders makes a wonderful contribution to the whole school community and allows children from all over the world to benefit from a British education in a friendly and caring home away from home.

A NEIGHBOURHOOD SCHOOL In 2007, we built a new school in the popular La Moraleja suburb of Madrid. Only 15 minutes from the centre of Madrid, the school educates over 500 children from Nursery to Year 9 (ages 3 - 14).

Situated on 10,000 square metres of grounds, the school includes an Infants’ garden, various playgrounds, a floodlit multi-sports area and a multi-purpose school hall. There is also a library, a dedicated computer suite and, like all our schools, there are interactive whiteboards in every classroom.

A science laboratory inspires future doctors, vets and engineers and develops their experimentation and testing skills. A music department, with four practice rooms for individual or group tuition, offers pupils the opportunity to learn how to play musical instruments.

It’s a small and friendly school. I know all the pupils and get on with them very well. In lessons, we learn by doing, not simply reading. By being actively involved, we remember what we learn.

EARLY YEARS LEARNING King’s Infant School is close to Madrid city centre and caters for approximately 200 children aged 3 - 7 years old. Here we nurture, support and encourage very young pupils to become independent thinkers, ensuring that each child reaches their full potential both socially and academically.

Young children learn through exploration. Everything they do, from kicking a ball, to building with blocks and painting, is designed to help them understand their environment. They learn through action, allowing them to interpret the world around them.

The school has been especially designed with indoor and outdoor areas for pupils to explore. We have developed a creative use of the outdoor space that allows children to play and explore in the fresh air, while also providing shelter from the rain and the hot summer sun.

A familiar face greets early years children at the school gate every day, so that we support them both in their learning and in building their self-confidence.

King’s Infant School is an extremely friendly and supportive place to work. Due to its small size you get to know all the children in the school, not just the ones in your class. It’s lovely to see the progress of the children you know from Nursery all the way through to Year 2.

SERVING A VIBRANT COMMUNITY Located on Spain’s famous Costa Blanca, our school in Alicante provides a British education to a dynamic international community. Some 15% of families at the school are expatriates, all of whom are attracted by King’s reputation to provide a first-class British education.

Educating children aged 3-18, the school began as a parent co-operative in 2000 and established close links with King’s from the start, including the academic development and establishment of IGCSE courses. In September 2003, the school officially became part of King’s Group and now educates more than 1,000 pupils.

As with all our schools, we have excellent science laboratories, computer and ICT equipment, music rooms and performance halls, along with a wide variety of sports facilities and equipment. We also offer a vast array of additional extra-curricular activities to tap into each child’s passions.

Our daughter started at school without knowing a single word of English and 12 years later, she has been invited to an interview at the University of Cambridge, one of the top ten universities in the world.

A LARGE, PURPOSE-BUILT CAMPUS Murcia is a thriving city in the southeast of Spain, boasting a major agricultural industry, as well as being a magnet for businesses, many of which choose it as a location for their regional offices. More recently, the nearby beaches, golf courses and excellent climate have made it a centre for ‘residential tourism’.

King’s College Murcia is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art school that currently educates more than 500 children aged from 18 months to 18 years old.

The school first opened in 2008 as a partnership school, but was integrated fully into the Group in 2014.

The pupils have access to large, outdoor multi-purpose sports areas that include facilities for all major games, as well as a climbing wall to test our pupils’ physical abilities. The school library boasts an array of literature

to support pupils’ educational needs and development, whilst the science laboratories offer access to equipment that you would expect from a top-class British school. The school also plays host to dedicated music rooms and an art gallery, to allow our pupils to extend their creative skills.

At present over 25% of the pupils at the school are British-born and the fantastic reputation that we have built in the surrounding international community continues to attract many new families both from local and international communities.

A BRITISH EDUCATION IN LATIN AMERICA In September 2012 we opened our first school in Central America, located in Panama City. Part of our mission is to establish British educational principles and expertise around the world. With the knowledge already gained from our European locations, opening a school in Latin America was a natural next step.

In an innovative partnership with the Panamanian Ministry of Education, King’s Group has established a truly British school in one of the most dynamic economies in the region.

As well as providing a world-class education to children in Panama, we also help train local teachers who work in state schools.

We renovated an existing building in the Clayton area of Panama City, ensuring it was suitable for the delivery of a top quality British education; we then staffed it with teachers recruited from the UK.

At King’s College Panama, learning is fun and not forced. This allows me to become creative and to use my imagination, which has really improved the depth of my knowledge and education.

ONE OF THE LATEST ADDITIONS TO THE KING’S NETWORK The school will open its doors in September 2017 and is the first British school in the country. Sitting on a site occupying 20,000 m2 within the Saliena development in Riga, Latvia’s capital city, the school will offer the local and surrounding communities the opportunity to benefit from a quality British education, the hallmark of King’s College.

In the first year the school will operate as an Infant and Primary school. Starting with pupils age 3 (Nursery) to age 10 (Year 5). As the school grows it will eventually cater for pupils from Nursery to Year 13 (age 18).

Being the first British school in Latvia is an honour and the quality of our curriculum has been recognised by the Latvian Ministry of Education, allowing our students to benefit from exactly the same curriculum as an elite school in Great Britain. I am certain of the ongoing positive effects that this will have on the region in Latvia.

A DEDICATED PRIMARY SCHOOL EDUCATION Nurturing and encouraging young learners to think and question from the start of their studies is essential. This allows them to become independent, out-of-the-box thinkers and leaders of tomorrow.

King’s Infants Elche is due to open its doors in September 2017 and will provide a British education to approximately 200 Primary pupils aged between 2 and 7 years old.

The school will offer a purpose-built campus dedicated to our young learners, in order to offer an environment that will enthuse and stimulate, through a diverse and engaging curriculum.

EXCELLENCE IN BRITISH EDUCATION ON UK SOIL Following the success of our UK and international independent schools, it was a natural step for King’s Group to fulfil our vision of academic excellence by working in conjunction with the UK Government to sponsor Academies.

In February 2014, King’s Group became an Academy sponsor and established King’s Group Academies, a “Multi-Academy Trust” with a vision and passion for providing opportunities and success on a global stage for all our students. We are delighted to have been granted permission from the Department for Education (DfE) in London to sponsor Academies and Free Schools in England.

King’s Group has been involved in delivering an outstanding British education for almost fifty years, with a total focus on academic excellence and a mission for each individual child to achieve far beyond what they thought was possible.

Already operating a network of British schools internationally, we understand the complexities and challenges that this entails – we are now very excited about opening and running a small number of state schools based on the same winning formula.

Lyndhurst Junior School in Portsmouth became our first Academy in January 2016. In June the same year, we were pleased to also receive confirmation that King’s Group Academies has also been chosen as the sponsor for three new academies. In Bracknell Forest, Berkshire, KGA has been chosen as the partner to manage two brand new purpose-built schools; Binfield Learning Village and also Amen Corner North Primary

ENGLISH AROUND THE WORLD King’s College International offers an entertaining and effective way for young people to improve language skills while participating in one of our summer camps. They can also take part in an academic year programme, or join one of our shorter language courses.

Since 1981, more than 60,000 students have entrusted us with their language learning.

Summer Camps in Spain (ages 3-17)We offer thematic language camps related to sports, performing arts, multi-adventure activities, nature exploration and more. Also, in collaboration with the Real Madrid Foundation, we are proud to offer an “English and Football Camp”.

Academic year programme (ages 7-18)Students can enjoy a complete language and cultural immersion in one of our academic programmes. These take place in many different English-speaking countries around the world including: Great Britain, Ireland, the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

Language courses around the world (from 8 years old)Participants can explore some of the most amazing countries across the globe. Our Summer language courses mix formal classes with sports, activities and excursions. All our courses are designed to help children to improve their language skills. These courses include intensive, shorter and longer themed programmes, as well as exam-specific preparation.

TRAINING CONSULTANCY Skills gaps are one of the leading social and economic issues of our time. In Latin America and the Caribbean, more than in any other emerging region, companies are not seeing their skills needs being met. According to the World Bank Enterprise Surveys, 36% of firms say they struggle to find an adequately qualified work force, a percentage higher than in any other region in the world.

Based just outside of Panama City, King’s Training Panama has been established to serve the needs of the international business community. We work with our clients to become a strategic HR partner by offering consultancy, support and solutions in People Development. Our knowledge stretches across areas such as leadership, communication, performance management, cross cultural awareness, customer service and employee relations, along with organisational skills including project management and finance.

Working with pupils ages 2 to 18 years, King’s College schools offer a vast array of opportunities for dynamic and practical learning, both inside and outside of the classroom, of which you can read more detail below.

Play to learn Ages 2 – 5 | Pre-Nursery to Reception

Young children learn through exploration. Everything they do, from kicking a ball, building with blocks and painting, to singing in a group, is done in English and is designed to help them understand their environment. Sometimes it gets messy, but it’s always rewarding and develops them socially, mentally and physically.

A more structured approach to the day helps children to start learning how to read, write and count in English. We still encourage children to explore and play but they are able to describe their discoveries in words and numbers.

Children are naturally curious. In Junior school we encourage them to learn about things that interest them while consolidating their numeracy and literacy skills. We teach children how to apply these basic skills to other subject areas – such as Science, Art and History.

As children get older we teach them to think more critically. They learn how to investigate, test and think about things rationally. Classes are more focused on formal “subject-based” learning. Nine or ten IGCSE exams are taken at the end of this stage in different subjects.

Think and actAges 17 – 18 | School years 12 – 13

The final two years at school mark the beginning of adulthood. Pupils make choices and work hard during these years that prepare them for university and then the start of their careers. Once pupils have finished their IGCSEs they choose three or four A Level exams – which are accepted by universities around the world.

University and beyondAge 18+

Nearly all King’s pupils go on to university, mostly in the UK. Academic success helps guarantee a good career but we also want children who have been to King’s College to become good parents, partners and friends.

We believe that anyone can learn even the most complex mathematical concepts when they are taught in an exciting and thought-provoking way. We know that parents want their children to be numerate and we take our role in this very seriously, to give children the tools to approach maths in ways that inspire and encourage them.

At King’s, we have everything children need to learn by doing – whether using batteries and wires to create circuits in Primary school, or working in one of the purpose-built laboratories to investigate bonding and intermolecular forces in secondary school.

An integral part of a broad British education. Art is celebrated in many areas of school life at King’s College. The creative process of painting, drawing, modelling or designing; all of these activities have an important role to play in our pupils’ education.Learning through practical, hands-on means, creates dynamic and out-of-the box thinkers.

Traditionally sport and team play have been an important part of physical and mental development at British schools. Working hard towards a shared aim gives a sense of achievement. Being part of a team teaches children to understand tactics, cooperation and fair-play. We hope that children at King’s College learn to be chivalrous winners and gracious losers.

Rodrigo started at King’s aged three, and though he cannot quite remember his first day, he does know that then, as now, there was a real sense that there was always someone there to help him and, as he got older, guiding and advising him. Rodrigo is studying Arts and Sciences at University College London.

Academic Results

LIFE AFTER KING’S COLLEGE 68% of our pupils go on to study at universities in the UK. Others go on to study in the USA and Spain. All of our pupils leave with a sense of confidence in themselves and a clear idea of how they can contribute to society.

Verena graduated from King’s College, Alicante in the Summer of 2013. Her time at the school saw her undertake many curricular and extra-curricular activities, one of which was her responsibility as Head Girl in her final year. Upon concluding her studies at King’s she won a place at the University of Warwick, UK, where she is currently studying Electrical Engineering.
