Kingfisher louvres provide permanentventilation combined with weatherprotection and visual screening. Acoustic attenuation louvres are alsoavailable.

They can be used to fill openings or toform screening enclosures to all kinds ofhvac, mechanical and other plant rooms.

The louvres can provide a continuousappearance, and with a wide range ofcolour finishes form an architecturalfeature of a building. The system is veryflexible, and louvre banks can be made toalmost any practicable size or shape.

The corrosion-resistant constructionmakes them suitable for all externalinstallations including roof tops.

There is a wide range of blade designs tomeet different requirements, according tothe functions required: maximum airflow, weather protection, visualscreening, and acoustic screening (seeproduct selection table opposite).Matching louvre doors are also availablefor most ranges.

KW 75 HPG weather protection louvreThe KW 75 HPG high-performance louvreblade combines low airflow resistance withmaximum weather exclusion. Followingexhaustive development work andindependent testing, Kingfisher can offerone of the best-performing single-banklouvre systems on the market.

Louvres provide high rainwaterrejection combined with highairflow rate up to A2performance classification,assured by independent testingby BSRIA. This represents abetter performance than mostdouble-bank systems, achievedat a lower cost and within asmaller depth of opening.

The registered design isaesthetically pleasing and thegutter profile avoids the cascadeeffect.

Designed and developed under BS EN ISO9001 which covers design management,development, manufacture and installation.

KW Weather protection louvresLouvre system comprising banks of bladesproviding permanent ventilation combinedwith weather protection and visual screening.

Louvres are supplied either mounted onconcealed mullions for a continuousappearance or as individual framed panels,and can form an architectural feature of abuilding. The system is very flexible; banksand panels can be made to any practicablesize or shape.

Z-profile and S-profile blades are designed togive good protection against water penetrationtogether with low resistance to airflow.

All components are aluminium for long lifewith good corrosion resistance.

ApplicationsAny application requiring permanent large-scale ventilation combined with screening,for example air inlet and exhaust forventilation or air conditioning systems, plantrooms, lift motor rooms, generators andpumping stations.

Blades clip in place and cannot be removedwithout special tools, so the system issuitable for use in publicly accessible areas.

Blanked-off panels are available to providecontinuity of appearance where required.

CompositionBlades, mullions and clips are extrudedaluminium grade 6063 T6 to BS EN 755-2:2008, BS EN 755-9:2008 and BS EN 515:1993.

Trims and flashings are either extrudedaluminium grade 6063 T6 to BS EN 755-2:2008, BS EN 755-9:2008 and BS EN 515:1993 or folded aluminiumsheet, depending on installation details.Fixings are stainless steel.

AccessoriesMitred corners where required, and a varietyof edge trims and flashings to suit theinstallation.

Bird/vermin guard (overlapped and securedto mullions): HDPE (high densitypolyethylene) as standard, or expandedaluminium; hole size 15mm.Insect guard (framed in panels): HDPE, holesize 4mm.

Size, shapeBlade centres can be varied as required,subject to minimum values shown overleaf.Increasing blade centres will affect weatherand airflow performance. Blade angle is 45°for all types.

Maximum blade length is normally 3.0m forease of handling. For continuous louvres theblades are butt jointed at an intermediatemullion and the blade ends are held by asingle clip to ensure correct alignment, a2mm expansion joint is required.

Banks and panels can be made to anypracticable shape and size, with virtually norestriction on height or width.

Louvres can be curved in plan to specialorder; please enquire for minimum radii.

AppearanceLouvres provide clean lines with acontinuous appearance; no fixings orsupports are visible from outside.

Standard finish: polyester powder coating toBS 6496.Alternative finishes: PVF2, natural or colouranodised AA25 to BS 3987, natural millfinish. Where anodising is specified, thealuminium will be of anodising quality.

KW 100T triple-bank louvres are externallythe same as KW 100Z single-bank, so theycan be used together in one installationwhilst maintaining a consistent appearance.

KW Louvre doorsetsLouvre doorsets match corresponding KWlouvres, which can be installed within louvrebanks giving a continuous appearance, orwithin a wall opening. The doors providepermanent ventilation combined withweather protection and visual screening.

Doors can be supplied with louvre bladesmatching all KW single and multiple-banklouvres.

Doors are outward opening, single or double,and are supplied complete with frame andironmongery. All components are aluminium for long lifewith good corrosion resistance.

ApplicationsTo provide access to plant and boiler rooms,lift motor rooms, meter cupboards, pumpingstations and other plant enclosures.

CompositionThe door leaf has a framing of welded extrudedaluminium hollow sections, to which louvreblades are clipped after installation.

The door frame comprises extrudedaluminium head, jambs and threshold boltedtogether to form a complete frame.

All components are extruded aluminiumgrade 6063 T6 to BS EN 755-2:2008, BS EN 755-9:2008 and BS EN 515:1993.

AppearanceDoors provide a continuous appearancewhen installed within a KW louvre bank. A small lock area with D handle is the onlyinterruption to the line of the louvre blades.



MaintenanceClean working components by wiping with asoft cloth and applying a light machine oil asrequired. Check operation of the door everythree months to ensure all fixings are tightand latches engage correctly. Some specialironmongery may require routinemaintenance in accordance withmanufacturer’s instructions provided.

Periodic cleaning is required to maintainappearance (this is a condition of guaranteeof finish where applicable).

BRISE SOLEIL SOLAR SHADING SYSTEM

Kingfisher Brise Soleil is an external shadingsystem for control of solar heat gain throughglazing. Designed as a complete system whichcan be installed in various configurations.

ApplicationsSuitable for offices, schools and othercommercial and public buildings, both newand refurbished.

Why use solar shading ?In sunny weather, solar heat gains throughglazing can represent a substantial input ofheat to a building. Apart from the directsolar heating, re-radiated heat becomestrapped inside the building, increasing theinternal temperature even more. Ventilationrates or cooling loads must then be increasedto maintain comfortable conditions.

CompositionBlades, support arms and clips are extrudedaluminium grade 6063 T6 to BS EN 755-2:2008, BS EN 755-9:2008 and BS EN 515:1993.

Blades are carried in aluminium clips, whichare factory attached to the support arms. Theouter end of the arm is closed off with awelded aluminium cap; the inner end slotsover the stainless steel fixing bracket.

Size, shapeSupport arms: maximum projection 1200mm,maximum spacing: 1500mm centres.

Blade pitch must be specified when ordering,maximum: 140mm. This will give completeshading for the UK.

AppearanceStandard finish to blades, support arms andclips: polyester powder coating to BS 6496,in any RAL colour to order.

Alternative finishes: PVF2, natural or colouranodised AA25 to BS 3987, natural mill finish.

This section sets out the approach tolimiting heat gains as required byparagraph L1(a)(i) of Schedule 1 to theBuilding Regulations.

The guidance can be used todemonstrate that the building hasappropriate passive control measures tolimit solar gains.

The purpose is to limit solar gains toreasonable levels during the summerperiod, in order to reduce the need for orinstalled capacity of air-conditioningsystems.

Some ways of assessing the overheatingrisk are given in CIBSE TM37 - Designfor improved shading control.

Wind loadingsMaximum wind loadings are given in thetable for support arm projection 1200mm(maximum allowable) with ten equallyspaced blades.

For fixing brackets to the structure, thetensile load resistance of anchors must be5.0kN minimum, per bolt.

Indicative installation heights are based on asite wind speed of 25m/s which covers all ofthe UK except NW Scotland and NW Ireland,site altitude approx 60m, no shelter fromsurrounding buildings. For sheltered sitesinstallation heights of up to 50m may bepossible; in more exposed sites lower heightswill apply.

The advice of a structural engineer should besought for guidance on the expected loadsresulting from particular building design,location and orientation.

InstallationThe fixing bracket base plate has four 12mmdiameter holes for fixing to the mainstructure of the building (these fixings arenot supplied).

Each support arm slots over a bracket and isfixed to it using two M10 stainless steel boltswith dome nuts. Blades are attached tosupport arms by slotting into the pre-attached clips.

MaintenancePeriodic cleaning isrequired to maintainappearance; this maybe carried out whenglazing is cleaned.

KC Screening louvresThe KC 120 system comprises banks oflouvre blades, designed primarily to providevisual screening at an economical cost, butnot weather protection.

The Z profile blades can be installed angledupwards or downwards according todirection of view, or double banked forscreening from any angle.

Blade spacing can be varied, and louvres maybe vertical, horizontal or inclined, accordingto requirements.

Louvres are mounted on concealed mullionsfor a continuous appearance, and can forman architectural feature of a building. Thesystem is very flexible; banks and panels canbe made to any practicable size or shape.


ApplicationsGenerally used for screening hvac and otherplant on roofs from higher buildings or fromlow level. Blade centres can be adjusted tosuit sightlines and specific requirements.



CompositionBlades, mullions and clips are extrudedaluminium grade 6063 T6 to BS EN 755-2:2008, BS EN 755-9:2008 and BS EN 515:1993. All other components are aluminium.

Fixings are stainless steel.


Size, shapeMinimum blade centres 100mm.

Maximum blade length is normally 3.0m forease of handling/practicality.

AppearanceLouvres provide clean lines with acontinuous appearance; no fixings orsupports are visible from outside.
