Community Partnership
John R. Wooden High School Kindred Spirits Care Farm is thrilled to make John R. Wooden High School (JRWHS) our first official project and location. JRWHS is a continuation high school in Reseda, CA for at-‐risk kids and already has a farm on the property. The staff is extraordinary, dedicated and excited about the benefits that Kindred Spirits Care Farm can bring to their kids. The kids themselves love their farm and are inspired to make it a thriving, sustainable, permaculture learning place.

Animal Rescue and Sanctuary
Kindred Spirits Care Farm provides a caring home for rescued farm animals. These animals, in turn, provide endless opportunities for visitors and volunteers to connect to other lives that have different forms, but very similar needs for love, safety, health and freedom of choice. The rescued animals help us learn patience, compassion and a renewed wonder with the miracles of other living beings. The animals also provide a safe space for vulnerable individuals to be at peace in the presence of another.

Permaculture Gardens
Permaculture is all about learning to cooperate with nature. Cooperation leads to greater benefits with fewer costs. At Kindred Spirits Care Farm we use permaculture design concepts in the development of our gardens where we grow deliciousness and beauty in the form of fruits, veggies, flowers and herbs. These gardens help connect people to the earth, plants, science and each other. It’s amazing how weeding rows of baby lettuces can really bring people together.
What is a Care Farm? At Kindred Spirits Care Farm people can come and reconnect to the earth, animals, nature and themselves. It is a place where plants and animals are living in harmony with nature, doing what they do as natural creatures. Traditionally, care farms welcome people to come and heal by participating in farming activities in whatever way they can. The very act of participating, being included, being in nature and having a meaningful task can be incredibly healing.
