Whether it is the first or third time you have passed through these doors with your little one, it is always a time of excitement, and maybe a little anxiety. The children grow and learn tremendously in Kindergarten. The year will be full of reading, writing, math, science, and learning about the world around us. The children will have many opportunities to grow in virtue and knowledge of their faith. They will be participating in Mass, adoration, special feast days, bible study, and learning about the saints. We consider it a great blessing to be part of The Highlands School and we look forward to getting to know you. ~. , .. Uniform- There is a summer uniform (Aug. 20th-Oct. 19 and March 22nd-June 2nd) and a winter uniform (Oct. 20th-March 22nd and special days designated on the calendar i.e. school m'a£~es: II Holy Days). Winter and Dress Uniform- uniform jumper, navy blue cardigan sweater, long sleeve princess blouse, navy blue modesty shorts, and same socks and shoes as summer. Boys Uniform- Summer- gray flannel walking shorts, white polo shirt with school crest, black b' lack socks, and all-black Velcro sneakers. Winter and Dress Uniform- gray flannel pants, ~ oxford shirt, navy blue sweater, black belt, black socks and all-black Velcro sneakers. IUock- Please have your child bring in an old large T-shirt that they can slip over their uniforms or art activities. year and your child's account will be charged as needed) or they can bring a lunch from home.No candy or sodas are allowed at school. We welcome you to join us for lunch- just let yourchild's teacher know beforehand.

Birthday Recognition- We would love to help celebrate your child's birthday! All birthdays forthe month will be celebrated the 2nd Friday of each month. Cupcakes, cookies, or cake can beshared with the class during lunch. There will no longer be birthday parties in the cafeteria or inthe classroom. Please notify your teacher 24 hours in advance. Note: Birthday invitations willonly be passed out in class if every child receives one. *WE will be celebrating theJuly/August birthdays Friday Aug. 28th

good habits and a sense of responsibility. It is your child's homework to return it everyday! Thechildren will also be given math homework to follow our Saxon Math program. Moreinformation on this will be given on Lower School Parent Night (September 9-- 6pm).

Mass- There will be a Lower School Masses every Wednesday at 8:30 in the chapel.

Morning drop-offffardiness- If you arrive between 7:30am-7:55 am you can bring your childdir to the early morning classroom. A teacher will be on duty. If you arrive after 8:05 yourchil ill be marked tardy. If you are tardy please walk your child to the office and sign them in.

We hope that this letter will answer some questions and immediate concerns. Lower SchoolParent Night is on Tuesday, September 9 at 6:00pm. At Parent Night we will have theopportunity to go into more detail about the curriculum and individual classroom policies andprocedures.
