THEME OF THE MONTH : All around us

After having the fun in the park and learning the importance of it, this week our learners were introduced to the importance of a supermarket.

Supermarkets have been centered as an idea of excellence. It gives us an opportunity to buy a variety of items under one roof. Moreover, for children this place could be the most impec-cable place to increase their knowledge on different types of food, healthy and unhealthy products etc. At the supermarket the children get an opportunity to interact with people of different nationalities and culture thus helping them to gain their self esteem and boost their communication skills. To make them aware of the benefits of visiting the supermarket, we have planned our lessons around the theme “ At the Supermarket”

This week learners were introduced to the new letters “ Ww” and “Xx” along with its sound. A recapitulation of the previously learnt letters was done through activities.

We are so proud of our youngest lot to see them growing each day and taking learning to the next level.

WHAT WE LEARNT DURING THE WEEK

PERSONAL, SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT:It was a pleasure to watch our tiny tots enacting as a buyer and cashier in the su-per market role play corner.

COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE:The little ones shared their experiences at the Supermarket. They spoke about how they have lots of fun, going to different sections in the super market and helping their parents to purchase.

EXPRESSIVE ART AND DESIGNThis week learners designed their on shopping bags and learned the importance of using recyclable bags.

UNDERSTANDING THE WORLD:Our tiny tots were super excited to make different objects out of play dough and add it to their trolleys.

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT:Outdoor play – Children had fun time playing on slides, swings, seesaws and enjoyed the pleasant weather.

PE- Children were engaged in different races to reinforce the concept of fast and slow

LIFE SKILLSTeaching preschoolers life skills is not only important for self care and sufficiency it also allows them to feel empowered and helps develop healthy self esteem. This week we reinforced the below skills :

• Using child friendly scissor.• Threading and unthreading the beads.• Learning Table manners.• Transfer solid from one bowl to another.

• Cookery class- Looking forward to making Biscuit canapes.

Rhymes and Rhythm

“Rhymes and Rhythm” was held on 13th February, 2020, at the Multipurpose Hall, Phase 2. The joyous occasion to celebrate the melodies and rejoicing memories. Our Pre KG star per-formers captivated us with their songs and dances. It was an immense pleasure to have with us the a marvelous crowd of parents who watched their littlest minions with the proudest eyes by expressing their love for the little ones. All in all, it was a grand event that everyone cherished.

WHAT WE LEARNT DURING THE WEEK

was done. Children discussed, recalled and drew what activities they had done the pre-vious day and what they were doing today and predicted and recalled what they would be doing tomorrow.

UNDERSTANDING THE WORLD:• Learners learnt to identify and talk about the properties of water. They learnt that water

takes the shape of the container and that it has no smell and colour.• Learners investigated how the level of water rose in the jar by doing the Thirsty Crow

experiment. They added stones to a jar full of water ,explored and concluded it all by themselves.

EXPRESSIVE ARTS AND DESIGNS:• Learners drew their daily routine as part of the sequencing activity.

part of a PD activity.

COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE:• Learners discussed the story of the Thirsty crow and shared their views about the experi-

ment e.g. the how and why the water level rises or falls down.

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT:• Learners took part in swimming practice for the upcoming swimming gala event.

Kindly Practice :• Writing of letters Aa-Zz in a sequence.• Writing of numbers 1-30.• Look for objects with ch and sh words at home.• Investigate at home where you’re using a lot of water daily.• Find out which date comes before and after your birthday.

LITERACY• Phonic recognition activities and letter writing from “Aa to Zz” was done in the note-

books.• Learners were introduced to ‘ch’ and ‘sh’ sound words like cheese, children, chain, ship,

shop, shell, etc.

MATHEMATICS:• Recap of numbers 1-30 was done. • Learners wrote 1-30 in Tens and ones format in the notebooks.• Introduction of Sequence of events was done. Learners learned to sequence events in

chronological order using language.• Introduction of Time –morning, afternoon, evening and yesterday, today and tomorrow

SUB TOPIC OF THE WEEK : Sea Transport

PERSONAL, SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT:Children discussed about the ‘Sea Transports ’ they expressed their thoughts and shared their knowledge about their favorite sea transport.

COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGELearners listened and interacted effectively during circle time and discussed about ways of saving money.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION:Children practiced pushing, patting , throwing , kicking and catching objects.

Arabic:Children learned new Arabic letters haa and waw.

HOME CONNECTIONS

• Go to the nearby supermarket with ypur parenrs observe the prices mentions on objects (Vegetables/ fruits/ Stationary). Make list of things you want to buy and calculate how much money you need to carry.

• Home Assignment : Pg. No : 104-109

LITERACY :Learners were introduced to Sound Words. They keenly heard different types of sounds of a book falling- “Thud” , a bell ringing- “Ding Dong” etc. They learned the sounds Thud, Bang, Ping Pong, Ding Dong, Crash, Crunch, Splash, Clack, Click, Boom, Pop, Ouch etc. They learned the new sight words ‘pretty’ and ‘want’ and revised all the sight words learned so far.

MATHEMATICSLearners were revised the concept of ‘Handling Money”. They learned calculating money using the concept of addition and subtraction. They pretended to go for shopping and buy few things using the given amount. They solved word problems related to money. They learned to take care of their money and calculate before and after shopping.

UNDERSTANDING THE WORLDUnder the topic ‘ Sea Transport’ Children learned different types of Sea Transport. They com-pared the sea transports and found similarities and differences. At STREAM station, they created Futuristic Sea Transport.

EXPRESSIVE ARTS AND DESIGN:Learners used their own choice of materials to make Futuristic Sea Transport using recycle material. They expressed different ways of saving money.
