1/2P CLASS NEWS Wow! Where have the last four weeks gone. 1/2P have
settled in and are amazing themselves- and me, with their
fantastic writing and reading. We have been reading the
text called The Gruffalo and have written some great
descriptions of the Gruffalo. We have a few here for you
to read. Come along and have a look at all our descriptions
and the artwork outside our room.
Congratulations to Annessa and Cooper-Jak who are our
Class Representatives for Semester 1. These students were
voted in by their classmates and are looking forward to
their role of representing our class at SRC meetings and
working with the other students to build and improve the
resources in our school.
In HSIE we are discovering who we are and where we
belong. We have had some great discussions about the kinds
of groups we belong to and what makes each group unique
and why we are members of those groups. It has been
amazing listening to all the activities our children are
involved in after school and on weekends.
We are looking forward to starting Home Reading and
Homework starting next week. Information about these will
be handed out at tonight’s Parent Information Evening.
The Gruffalo
I am a Gruffalo but I am a friendly Gruffalo. I live in a cave
and this is what I look like.
I have knobbly knees and turned out toes and purple prickles
down my back. My eyes are orange, my tongue is black.
I like to eat mice on bread.

The Gruffalo
I am a Gruffalo and I am a girl.
I live in the deep dark wood.
I have long teeth, orange eyes, I’m fat, brown with a black
tongue and big mouth. I have purple prickles down my back
and I have knobbly knees.
I am very gruff. I like to eat mouse on bread and I like to
do writing all day.

The Gruffalo
I am a Gruffalo and I am a devil.
I live in the deep dark wood.
I have knobbly knees and turned out
toes and a poisonous wart on the
end of my nose. I like to smash
down trees and I cheat at Bingo. I
go boxing. My favourite food is mouse on toast.

The Department of Education has revised its attendance
policy for the 2015 school year and beyond. The major
change that affects parents and students of Armidale City
Public School is that exemptions for family holidays during
term time will no longer be granted for students. Students
will be provided with a certificate stating the reason for
leave – family holiday. All days will count against the overall
attendance of a student for reporting purposes. Parents
are encouraged to plan holidays during school holiday
periods and if they wish to discuss this further to contact
Mr Hobbs.
If any parent would like to email me with suggestions or
comments at any time, please do so on the address listed
below.

3/4T CLASS NEWS The students of 3/4T have displayed some fantastic
imaginations and enthusiasm when participating in the “Tell
Me a Story” English unit that we have started with this
year. The written work of 3/4T students has displayed
great flare and a desire to encompass creative twists in
their narratives. I look forward to reading more exciting
narratives over the coming weeks.
The creative arts program has started with some wonderful
and unique interpretations of Jackson Pollock’s abstract artworks. 3/4T students created their own depictions of
his style and added some very creative touches of their own
in constructing abstract artworks.
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the
swimming carnival, particularly those students who were
taking part in their first swimming carnival at Armidale City
Public School. There were some fantastic swims and a very
impressive level of student participation from 3/4T. Well
done.
