A mouse took a stroll through the deep darkwood.A fox saw the mouse, and the mouse lookedgood.

"Where are you going to, little brown mouse?Come and have lunch in my underground house.

"!ts terribly kind of you, #ox, but no $!m going to have lunch with a %ruffalo."

"A %ruffalo? Whats a %ruffalo?"

"A %ruffalo& Why, didnt you know?

'(e has terrible tusks, and terrible claws,

and terrible teeth in his terrible )aws."

"Where are you meeting him?"

"(ere, by these rocks,

And his favourite food is roasted fox."

"*oasted fox& !m off&" #ox said."%oodbye, little mouse," and away he sped.

"+illy old #ox& oesnt he know,-heres no such thing as a %ruffalo?"

"%ood?" said the mouse. "ont call me good&!m the scariest creature in this wood.4ust walk behind me and soon youll see,5veryone is afraid of me."

"All right,"said the %ruffalo, burstingwith laughter."3ou go ahead and !ll follow after."

-hey walked and walked till the %ruffalo said,"! hear a hiss in the leaves ahead."

"Why, +nake, hello&

+nake took one look at the %ruffalo.

"h crumbs&"he said, "%oodbye, little mouse&"

And off he slid to his log pile house.

"3ou see?" said the mouse. "! told you so."

"Ama6ing&"said the %ruffalo.

-hey walked some more till the %ruffalosaid,

'! hear a hoot in the trees ahead."

"!ts wl," said the mouse. "Why, wl, hello&"

wl took one look at the %ruffalo.

"h dear&"he said, "%oodbye, littlemouse&"

And off he flew to his treetop house.

"3ou see?" said the mouse. "! told you so."

"Astounding&"said the %ruffalo.

-hey walked some more tillthe %ruffalo said,

"! can hear feet on the path ahead."

And off he ran to his underground house.

"Well, %ruffalo," said the mouse. "3ou see?5veryone is afraid of me&1ut now my tummys beginning to rumble.2y favourite food is $ %ruffalo crumble&"

"%ruffalo crumble&"the %ruffalo said,And 7uick as the wind he turned and fled.
