Some of the advantages ofFLS Kiln Outlet Lamella Seals

• Extremely flexible sealing between kilnand cooler

• Independent of kiln rotation• Insulation incorporated to protect the lamella

spring effect• Material return arrangement to either first

grate or external drag chain• Rapid and easy maintenance• Straightforward installation even on non-FLS

equipment• Dust retention curtain incorporated• 7,000 - 14,000 service hours for the wear

parts (dependent on the process conditions)

The FLS Kiln Outlet Lamella Seal is used inrotary kilns with grate coolers as a seal be-tween the kiln and the kiln hood.

Kiln OutletLamella SealThe outlet lamella seal consists of a non-rotatingcylindrical ring of steel plates fitted around the kilnon the kiln hood. This cylindrical ring supports anumber of special steel lamellae which slide on thecircular cooling mantle surrounding the kiln outletsection.

The lamella seal consists of two sets of springlamellae and heat-resistant fabric.

The inner set of lamellae supporting the fabric isexposed to the intense heat of the kiln. Over a periodof time the lamellae may lose their original springcharacteristics. To protect the outer set of lamellaeand enable them to maintain their resilience, a layerof heat-resistant fabric is positioned between the twosets of steel lamellae.

The cooling mantle is constructed from heat-resistantplate and is positioned on the kiln shell and fixed by anumber of spring plates.

To prevent overheating of the outlet sectors andsealing parts, a separate fan supplies cooling air via acircular manifold to the space between the kiln shelland the cooling mantle.

In the concentric dust chamber the escaping dust iscollected and is then returned directly to the coolervia a chute.

The FLS Kiln Outlet Lamella Seal can be fitted/retro-fitted to FLS kilns and normally also to kilns ofother manufacturers.
