This is the most commontype of SAP on Azureproject.
This is typically migrating an
on-premises instance of
SAP.
Migration
This is for companies that do
not currently have SAP but
want to start with SAP inthe
cloud.
This is a fresh implementation
of SAP.

HANA
1. Install a new SAP application server and HANA Database on Azure. This can be donethrough predefined Azure ARM templates
2. Run export using the SAP Data Migration Options (DMO) system move tool for the on-premise SAP server
3. Upload finished export files to Azure through ExpressRoute from the on premise SAP server in sequential or parallel mode
4. Parallel mode is used to minimize downtime
5. Run import using SAP DMO System Move option in Azure
6. Run all post-migration steps for the Azure SAP App server
1. Install a new SAP application server and HANA DB server on Azure. This can be done through predefined Azure ARM templates
2. Take a full database backup for the on-premises SAP HANA Database server
3. Upload backup files to Azure through ExpressRoute
4. Restore HANA database in Azure
5. Run post-migration steps for the Azure SAP Application server
6. (Optional) Set up HANA System Replication to replicate production database to Azure to minimize migration downtime
1. Install a new SAP application server and HANA DB server on Azure. This can be done through predefined Azure ARM templates
2. Setup HANA System Replication (asynchronous) from Source system on-premises to Azure
3. Once the data is fully replicated to Azure, switch to HANA System Replication (synchronous) for a final sync on data
4. Run post-migration steps for the Azure SAP Application server
5. (Optional) Set up HANA System Replication to replicate production database to Azure to minimize migration downtime
