Who's Afraid of Abstract Art? - Marcy Freedman Art Course Tuesday. Sept.13, 1:30-3 PM in the Gathering Room At the beginning of the 20th century, Cubism, Orphism, Suprematism, Constructivism, and other movements brought abstract art into the spotlight. Women such as such as Uubov Popova in Russia, Sonia Delaunay in France, and Georgia O'Keefe in the United States partidpated fully in the daring

artistic adventures of their time. After World War II, the U.S. became the focus of international attention when Abstract Expressionism took hold. Among the practitioners of this new form of abstraction were Lee Krasner and Helen

Frankenthaler. The accomplishments of these and other female abstract artists will be considered in this lecture. To sign up, call Fran Kelley.
