FKCCI The erstwhile Mysore Chamber of Commerce, the precursor of the Federation of Karnataka chambers of Commerce & Industry, was established on May 8, 1916, in Bangalore. Sir M. Visvesvaraya, who conceived it in 1915, called it a means to broaden the outlook of the merchants in areas that will be affecting them and also the economy of the state. It would also afford them an opportunity of personal service and jointly deliberation and action concerning the larger issues pertaining to Industry, Trade and Commerce. The FKCCI today has a membership of over 2400 drawn from all sectors of Trade, Commerce and Industry, spread over the entire state, including 150 District Chambers of Commerce and Trade Associations.

OBJECTIVES

To act as a spokesman for business and industry in the state.

To provide a forum of businessmen to discuss and deliberate on all issues affecting the

general interests.

To continuously interact and work with Government in resolving the various problems

that arise from time to time in the business and economic spheres.

To build up and disseminate information on business and the economy to its members

and the community in general.

To organize seminars/workshops/symposia, training programs, etc., on subjects of

tropical interests for the benefit of members and the general public.

To publish papers, books, monographs, studies etc., from time to time in the service of

members and the community.

To provide a forum for business missions from abroad for developing bilateral trade /

multilateral trade with foreign countries and to sponsor business missions to other

countries from time to time.

To organize studies from time to time in different areas that have a bearing on Trade,

Commerce and Industry.

To set up exhibitions, trade shows, buyer-seller meets, catalogue shows and the like for

the benefit of members and the State.

To seek and represent business and industry in various government bodies and

institutions.

The Federation offers many services, which are of direct and indirect benefit to all members.

Interaction with FKCCI renowned Members, Central & State Governments, international

agencies and academia.

Promotion of international trade through meetings with visiting foreign business

delegations, participation in Trade Fairs / Exhibitions and business delegations abroad.

Expert advice on diverse subjects such as industrial growth, monetary and fiscal policy,

exchange rate policy, economic planning, taxation and corporate laws.

Generating awareness and gathering public support regarding specific aspects of business

for overall business development.

Platform to interact and gain professional knowledge through seminars, workshops and

round table meetings.

Participation in the Expert Committees of FKCCI. The Federation has more than 30

Expert Committees, which regularly take up issues of its Members’ interests in various

fields with the policy makers.

Redressal of general / common problems of Members at Central / State Government

levels and other Institutions.

Assistance in identifying joint venture partners at various national level events, organized

by FKCCI.

Web Services: Information on important events organized by FKCCI and all other

activities, press releases, membership etc.

FUNCTIONS OF FKCCI

1. Analysis of the impact of Fiscal, industrial and the of trade policies on industry including

the MSME sector and trade. - Changing economic policies will have an impact on the

industry and trade and hence a proper feed back to industry and trade about the economic

policies and trade policies will be a vital input from the cell. A constant watch and a

constant updating of the data on all fronts will be a crucial activity of the cell

2. Bring out a monthly FKCCI handout giving a brief economic and statistical outline of

major economic factors/variables.

3. Build and maintain a bank of information on business and economic indicators across

sectors.

4. Use database to prepare working papers on current issues such as applications of GST,

implication of WTO – NAMA for Karnataka, specific problems of different sectors of

state economy, impact of regional disparities on industrial growth in the State.

5. To support other activities of FKCCI by bringing out research based information which

can be used for submission to Government and to prepare discussion notes for use in

workshops and seminars.

FKCCI AND SKDRDP TO MENTOR YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS

The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) will join hands with

Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) to start a training

programme for workers and mentoring for young entrepreneurs.

FKCCI, along with SKDRDP, would also start a mentoring scheme for young

entrepreneurs at the district level. It will be implemented in collaboration with Rural

Development and Self Employment Training Institute (RUDSETI) – a joint initiative of

the Syndicate Bank, Canara Bank and Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Educational

Trust – and experts from FKCCI.

The mentoring is to support entrepreneurs from all sectors, in manufacturing, trade

and service, particularly for the first one or two years.

The aim is to provide skill development avenues for school/college dropouts, especially

from the commerce stream.

FKCCI PLUMPS FOR CONNECTIVITY IN COASTAL DISTRICT

The coastal regional development coordination committee of Federation of Karnataka Chambers

of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), which held its first meeting at Kanara Chamber of

Commerce and Industry (KCCI), has plumped for ensuring last mile connectivity in the coastal

districts. Infrastructure including roads, rail and development of manufacturing, services and

trade too, is on the top of committees priority.

KCCI started in 20 December 1940; they are today recognized as one of the respected Chambers

To issue, in order to protect the image of our country as well as safeguard the interests of

foreign buyers of local commodities, Certificate of Origin, Certificate of Weight,

Certificate of Quality etc. on demand, after making necessary inspection at a cost.

To be in regular touch with other District Chambers of Commerce and Industry in

Karnataka on various matters.

To assist in securing the correct interpretation and implementation of new laws

promulgated by the Government and protect its members from improper implementation

and misinterpretations.

To make a regular study of all economic activities in the district and offers suggestions

and recommendations to the Government for implementation of development schemes.

ISSUANCE OF CERTIFICATE OF ORIGIN BY KCCI

The Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mangalore is authorized by Ministry of

Commerce, Government of India to issue Certificates of Origin for goods exported from India.

This facility is offered at a nominal fee.

Trade Agreements between various countries allow allotment of imports of certain quantity of a

particular article/commodity from a specified country. Some Trade Agreements allow

preferential treatment of customs duties if the article/commodity is imported from specific

countries. A Certificate of Origin is an important international trade document attesting that

goods in a particular export shipment are wholly obtained, produced, manufactured or processed

in a particular country. Certificate of Origin also constitutes a declaration by the exporter and an

important document for international Finance and Trade Transactions.

For the above purpose, the country of origin of the goods becomes necessary either for assessing

the quantity or for customs formalities. In these cases, invariably the contracting Governments

are required to specify certifying agencies in their respective countries to issue certificate of

origin under Article 11 of the International Convention relating to the simplification of the

Customs formalities signed at Geneva in 1923.

The Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mangalore is issuing the Certificate of Origin

(Non Preferential) as per authority bestowed by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of

India, New Delhi, vide Notification No.50-TP(P) (12)/50 dated 3rd November, 1950

Communicated to KCCI by Sri G. S. Sharma, the then Asst. Secretary to Govt. of India.

Procedure / Documents to be submitted along with application :

A covering letter to KCCI for issue of Certificate of Origin/Certification of copies of Invoices /

Packing List etc., the letter should also indicate that the information furnished in the relevant

documents is true and correct.

Application for Certificate of Origin in the following prescribed form duly filled up

together with-

I. A copy of the Invoice bearing the certification of the Container stuffing officer from the

Department of Customs or Central excise, as applicable.

II. A copy of the Bill of Lading.

III. Any other relevant document.

Note: Photocopies have to be attested by the Exporter / Applicant.

The above payment may be made either in Cash or by Cheque / DD favouring Kanara Chamber

of Commerce & Industry, Mangalore, payable at Mangalore.
