The annual KCMGCC Spring Lark In May, SLIM Run, was held on the

first weekend in May (the 6th & 7th). The weather was spectacular,

and from there, everything else just seemed to fall in place. The

flooding rains that had swollen the creeks out of their banks earlier in

the week had stopped, and the MODOT website showed us where

detours needed to be written, in time to get them inserted.

The run started in NE Independence, proceeded through county roads

across the state to Booneville for lunch, and a break at the Dutch

Bakery in Tipton. We then followed the Missouri River downstream

into Jefferson City for the night. The drive to dinner that evening

took us by the state capitol, the governor’s mansion, and the old

state penitentiary to dinner at Prison Brews. Parking was a little

difficult, and dinner was a little loud, but the beer was good.

Sunday morning got us back on the road heading generally west,

following scenic ridgelines with spectacular views across the

countryside. A break in Sedalia lead to a drive through the State

Fairgrounds and a close up view of equestrian riders with beautiful

horses, plus a little drive through the horsesh*t they left behind on

the road.

The run ended with lunch in Warrensburg, covering about 400 miles

from start to finish. Everybody seemed to have a good time and

enjoyed the scenic drive. CB communication from front to back kept

the group nicely synchronized as we drove along.

We only had a couple of minor mechanical issues along the way, with

one costing us about a 20 minute tech session stop along the side of

the road. The detours and tech session caused the need to drive just

a little faster than what we typically do on a SLIM run to stay on

schedule, but I didn’t hear anybody complain. It was a nice weekend

drive in an LBC (plus a Miata).

The Register’s execu-tive committee is elected by the Affiliated Chapters. Officers can only serve two con-secutive terms which ensures that new peo-ple and fresh ideas are always available. Finances are open to inspection at any time and the Treasurer provides financial state-ments that show how the membership’s money is spent. Officers and Registrars receive no financial remuneration for their duties, but volunteer out of the spirit of the marque. The award-winning magazine MGB Driver is published six times a year. Cost of membership in the NAMGBR is $30.00 per year and includes a dash plaque with your membership number, the MGB Driver magazine and other benefits.

The Kansas City MG Car Club is a chapter of the North American MGA Register (NAMGAR). The Register was established in 1975, with the sole objective of promoting the restoration, preservation, and enjoyment of the MGA, Magnette, and their Variants. While NAMGAR started as a register of MGA’s in North America, it soon became an organization to join, as evidenced from a membership roster of folks from all over the world! It immediately became the catalyst for very special social gatherings. NAMGAR is managed by unpaid volunteer Board and Staff members. They give their expertise and time freely in an effort to make NAMGAR the best MG club in the world.: Cost of membership in the NAMGAR is $37.50 North America/$52.50 International per year and unique dash plaque indicating your car’s Register number, NAMGAR’s award winning magazine, MGA!, six times a year and other benefits.

Behind The WheelBehind The WheelBehind The WheelBehind The Wheel

by Rick Mills

The month of May has been quiet. We were able to drive the

MG-BGT on this SLIM Run and that was a good time. Denny

and Ruth found some good roads around Jefferson City. The

best part I thought was Sunday morning leaving Jefferson City

with 13 cars and no foreign cars in the group. All 13 were

LBCs. The other reason May was quiet was the weather. Kind

of a wet month, but that’s been ok for us as we have been

preparing for a long trip to San Diego. I can't wait to get

behind the wheel on this trip, even though some of our route

has been detoured because of the rains and snow in California.

Oh well, it will be a great drive anyway.

On another note, our General Meeting this month was

attended by lots of people. Thank you if you came and voiced

your opinion. It was great to see everybody and a new

member also. Rob did a good job explaining why we were

leaning toward doing a national show for the "B" (NAMGBR)

Register as opposed to an "A" (NAMGAR) Register. But now

that the voting is over, and we as a club will not host the

MG2019 national event, I would hope we would support

GOBMC as they also are trying to make a bid for a national

show here in the Midwest. I would love that – a show here in

the Midwest.

Anyway, now that we have the MG-BGT sorted out, I hope to

set up a Breakfast Run later in the year, but nothing definite

yet. But we will continue to get behind the wheel in hopes of

bringing you some new roads here in the Kansas City area.

See you behind the wheel soon!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

65th Annual Rallye Glenwood Springs, June 9-11, 2017

The MG Car Club - Rocky Mountain Centre invites you to join us for the 65th Annual Rallye

Glenwood Springs, the oldest continually-held time-speed-distance rally in the United States,

on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, June 9, 10, & 11, 2017. This provides an opportunity for

those going to the California NAMGAR and NAMGBR events to stop by on their way and enjoy

Colorado hospitality.

The Rallye Glenwood Springs weekend is a marvelous opportunity, not just for MG owners, but

for sports car enthusiasts of every mark (British, American, German, Italian, Japanese) to

come together for sunny days, cool nights, and unique events. The fun begins on Friday with a

time-speed-distance rally to challenge both novice and experienced rallyists from the Denver

suburb of Lakewood, rallying through canyons and over mountain passes in the heart of the

Rocky Mountains to the scenic resort town of Glenwood Springs. Saturday's main event is the

tour. Spend the day winding through the beautiful mountain valleys around Glenwood

Springs. The weekend culminates with a social gathering Saturday night and the Car Show,

Funkana, and Awards Presentation on Sunday.

Since it’s inception, the MGCC-RMC has sponsored this Rallye, which began when a hardy

group of sports car owners discovered the joys of motoring in Colorado in MGs that still had

drop-down tops and running boards. The Rocky Mountains of central Colorado, with some of

the most breathtaking scenery in America, formed the backdrop for the Rallye Glenwood

Springs through 64 previous years. Vintage and classic cars from as far away as California

and Illinois have shared the twisting mountain roads with their newer counterparts for octane-

related festivities. And enthusiasts have come from as far away as England to drive their

sports cars through such fabled Colorado mining towns as Leadville and Aspen on their

way to Glenwood Springs.

We hope to see lots of British cars lovers having

a good day!

BRITISH CAR WEEK

By Paul McBride

The 21th Annual “Drive your” British Car Week is scheduled for May 27th – June 4th, 2017. The inspiration and motivation to organize a British Car Week came from a March, 1997 Road & Track column entitled Seldom Seen Cars by Pe-ter Egan. Peter noted that sports cars which were once commonly seen (even daily transpor-tation) were now seldom encountered on the street. Within weeks the British Car Week was organized. For more information link to:

www.britishcarweek.org

Your Kansas City Triumphs Club is sponsoring an all British car picnic to celebrate the occasion at Shawnee Mission Park, Shelter #10, Sunday June 4th 11 AM-5 PM. We are inviting all local British car clubs to join us. At the conclusion we will have a parade lap of the lake. The shelter has a large parking lot for car display, re-strooms, playground ideal for kids or grandkids,

and plenty of room.

We will provide hotdogs, fixings, soft drinks, plates, utensils, charcoal and chefs. Please bring your favorite snack, covered dish or desert. Be aware: Shawnee Mission Park allows gasoline

and coolant to contain alcohol, but nothing else!

So Mark Your Calendar: Sunday June 4th 2017

and drive your British Car.

Map to event can be found in newsletter on page

membership incentives were approved to encourage new members to join NAMGAR. (a) The Board agreed to extend the promotion that provides a free six month

membership to a current member who introduces a new member to NAMGAR. This does not apply to lapsed renewing members. This is a one-time only offer.

(b) In addition, if a current NAMGAR member sells a car, and the buyer becomes a member of NAMGAR, both the seller and the buyer will receive a six month membership for free.

Both these rewards run until December 31st, 2017.

MIDGET MUMBLINGSMIDGET MUMBLINGSMIDGET MUMBLINGSMIDGET MUMBLINGS By Steve Olson Recently I have seen a few Triumph hard tops finding new owners. I think it must have been about 1990 when I noticed that for some reason our bank account had a few extra dollars in it. Being a nice guy and not wanting to burden the banker with that extra responsibility I began to look for something to add to our Midget. It was my daily commuter back then and it sometimes lost its space in the garage to some other pressing project. As Winter approached I thought perhaps a hardtop might come in handy. Our MG’s weather protection design goal must have been to keep 90% of the moisture from entering the passenger compartment during a heavy sprinkle. And when new most of them probably met that objective. The Brits had the technology to build a snug convertible top and the Sunbeam Alpine was a fine example of those skills. But for MG it was more important to reduce weight and increase profit. If a pup tent was good enough for the Girl Guides then surely MG owners could make do with a bit of brittle black vinyl snapped in place over some metal sticks. So the thoughts of a rigid fiberglass top secured snugly to the windscreen frame and the body might mean dry and quiet comfort. Plus it would offer a rear window that would not be yellowed and wrinkled and a total no no for the ice scraper. All I needed to do was find a hard top that I could afford. This was in the dark ages before Ebay or the Internet so on weekends we scoured the newspaper ads that filled several pages with car and car parts. Hard tops for Midgets and Sprites were few and far between. Most were factory hard tops listed for $250 or more and all of them I looked at were in serious need of restoration. But one day I spotted an ad asking just $80 and the condition was listed as good. So I called and got the address and consulted my city map to get directions. This was back long before GPS. When I arrived the nice lady told me the top had been her son’s and he had totaled the car so he no longer needed the

top. It was an after market job and all the weather stripping was present but most of it had come unglued. It didn’t seem as aerodynamic as the factory tops and it had blind rear corners. Not ideal but it was cheap! Supposedly it fit all years of Spridgets but probably was designed for the earlier ones. I paid her and set the top loosely on the car. Some of the hardware to attach it was missing so I drove home slowly holding the top on with my free hand. I made hardware to attach it and re-glued the weather strips. Once it was fitted to the car I noticed it did not fit all that closely around the side windows but neither did the soft top. It was less drafty but the fiberglass provided a fine reflector to keep all the noises echoing inside the car. It was like riding inside a bass drum. But with less water leaking in I would be able to replace the carpet and that should soak up some of the noise. I still have that hardtop hanging on the wall of the garage. Every few years I take it down and install it on the car for a few Winter drives. It does help hold the heat inside a little better than the soft top. It even looks pretty snazzy. If somebody wanted to buy it from me I would hope I could get more than I invested originally. At least I should be entitled to add $10 a year for the storage. The price of a hardtop depends mostly on condition. For factory units all the glass and rubber parts are available but their cost quickly adds up. For after market tops there are no parts and you will need to create whatever you need. Steve Olson

On Monday, August 21, 2017, millions of peo-

ple across the United States will see nature's

most wondrous spectacle — a total eclipse of

the Sun. It is a scene of unimaginable beauty;

the Moon completely blocks the Sun, daytime

becomes a deep twilight, and the Sun’s corona

shimmers in the darkened sky. Around KC,

the best viewing area is just north of us near

St Joseph and Smithville Lake, approximately

Good afternoon from Goleta!

As I think about writing this email, I’m re-

minded that I am just one of more than 100

Moss Motors employees whose livelihood is

largely dependent on British car clubs like

yours. There are several hundred clubs

throughout North America and the future of

Moss is intertwined with the success of your

club, and hopefully the time I spend here at

work helps build on your success.

Often when I sign off on an email I add one of

two titles; there’s “Moss Club and Event Sup-

port” and “Moss Motoring editor.” I have the

enjoyable job of sharing LBC stories through

our magazine, and also of sending goodies for

clubs to give away at events (that’s

www.mossmotors.com/addyourevent … if you

didn’t know about that). I know that there is

more that I can do through Moss, and hopeful-

ly this email is a good first step toward that

aim.

I am writing to all the club contacts that I

have, and to the club newsletter editors, too,

with this goal in mind: To build an archive of

activities, ideas, and resources that clubs can

drawn from.

Hopefully you’ve noticed how in our magazine

I try and include at least one article that is

helpful or inspiring to clubs. For example, here

are three from past issues:

http://www.mossmotoring.com/car-club-tips/

http://www.mossmotoring.com/gang-triumph/

http://www.mossmotoring.com/healey-

helpers/

These articles are but snowflakes on the tip of

a huge iceberg. At last count, I have a list of

more than 350 clubs in the US and Canada

(and thank you for helping me keep this list up

to date) and I KNOW I could fill our magazine

several times over with stories of fun, helpful,

adventurous, entertaining and meaningful

things all these clubs are doing and have done

in the past decades.

There should not be anything stopping me

from trying to gather those stories and ideas

and making them available to you. And so

that’s what I intend to do.

I would like to offer myself as a repository and

distributor of anything that might be helpful to

all the clubs. If your club is doing something

superb or different or fun, please send me a

detailed note about it with pictures, and every

so often I’ll put a collection of these activities/

ideas together and send them out to every-

one.

Thank you for all that you are doing to make

your car club enjoyable for your members!

Moss Club Connection

P.S. Many years ago I put together a brain-

teaser road rally to raise money for a youth

program. It turned out pretty well, and I found

it recently in my old files, so I’ve been trying

to fiddle with it to make it generic for any

group to use for their location. As I get ideas

and stories from clubs for distribution to eve-

ryone, this will motivate me to finish tweaking

that road rally, too.

Brian Moylan 1928Brian Moylan 1928Brian Moylan 1928Brian Moylan 1928----2017201720172017 (Reprinted with permission from MG Driver Magazine)

Born in 1928, Brian was soon on his way to India where his father, a regular in the RAF, had been posted for a four-year tour. Back in England, the family settled in the Ab-ingdon area where Brian would remain for the rest of his life. Leaving school at the age of 14 with no particular qualifications, Brian joined an RAF Maintenance Unit who had their work-shops located not far away at Milton village near Didcot, where he began by working on lorries as a trade lad. At 18 years of age, he was called up to do his two year’s National Service which he spent in the Royal Engineers gaining vital engineering experience.

By 1950, now demobbed and newly married, Brian took up his brother-in-law’s suggestion and applied for a job at the MG Car Company in Abingdon. Starting in the Service Department Brian quickly progressed by way of the Rectification Shop to the newly formed BMC Competitions Department under Marcus Chambers, remaining to becoming one of its longest serving members. Brian soon settled into his job as a ‘works’ mechanic, with his first trip abroad being on the 1956 Tulip rally with Deputy Foreman Tommy Wellman and Gerald Wiffen. Brian described the exercise as something of a farce, with too much time spent dining at good restaurants with his gourmet boss, Marcus Chambers – needless to say the situation would soon to change.

In 1957 Brian was involved in what could have been a fatal accident. Riding with Doug Hamblin, they were on test in an MGA along the Oxford by-pass, when an Austin A70 pulled out in front of them, Doug braked but could not avoid a collision, and Brian was thrown out of the car landing about ten feet away. They were both to suffer only bruising. A slightly less serious ‘incident’ was at the open-air party held following the 1963 Tour de France Automobile. There was access to a go-kart track and during some “competition” be-tween the lads, Brian managed to overturn his kart suffering cuts and bruises – he was more concerned as to how he was going to explain the damage to his best trousers to his wife Iris than he was about his injuries!

Brian travelled with the ‘Comps’ team worldwide, attending events at various times in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America. He was also a strong supporter of the MG & Riley Works Auto Club as an organizer and competi-tor and for some years was the proud owner of an MGA 1500 Coupe. When the Competi-tions Department was “chopped” by Lord Stokes at the end of 1970, Brian, along with Gerald Wiffen and Eddie Burnell was trans-ferred to Special Tuning where he continued to work on the Triumph Dolomite and TR7 rally programmes.

In 1979 Brian was offered a job manag-ing a Morris Garages service department and left MG at that time. When this outlet closed, he joined the Linde fork lift truck company in Abingdon as an engineer. This was his last job before retirement. Brian was a long-time member of the MG Car Club, and was a found-er member of the Abingdon Works Centre. He also dedicated a great deal of his time to help-ing Abingdon Museum with various displays and events. It is doubtful whether, without his energy and enthusiasm, there would be the permanent MG display that we see there to-day.

In retirement Brian devoted much time to writing his four excellent books; Behind the Octagon, Works Rally Mechanic, Anatomy of the Works Minis, and MG’s Abingdon Fact

ory. He also gave many talks and film shows to a variety of clubs and organizations.

A long career working amongst a real “band of brothers”. His knowledge, energy & enthusiasm is irreplaceable, but thanks for your legacy Brian. A testament to his populari-ty was the 100+ family and friends including former colleagues from the MG factory and the BMC Competitions Department, plus rally driv-ers Paddy Hopkirk & Paul Easter, who gath-ered at his funeral to bid their final farewells. RIP Brian - MG Car Club-UK

Sad News from the Roadster Factory Sad News from the Roadster Factory Sad News from the Roadster Factory Sad News from the Roadster Factory I don't know if everyone receives the newslet-ter from Charles but this was the latest letter from him. Very sad news. Dear TRF Customer, This is not an ordinary week at The Roadster Factory, and this newsletter will, of necessity be brief and to the point. My son, Simon, Al-bert’s brother, died unexpectedly over this past weekend at the age of twenty-six, leaving

his four-year-old son, Felix, and his girlfriend of many years, Janna. My family and all of us here at TRF are devastated emotionally by the loss of Simon. Simon was son, friend, and trusted employee to me and brother, friend, and fellow employee of Albert. Although Si-mon has worked full-time at TRF for only a year, he has become close friends with every-one on the staff. Actually, as a family mem-ber, he grew up knowing everyone here, and he has helped with Summer Party and other work since he was ten years old. He and I have always been very close, and I cannot im-agine living without him. Readers who attended the national car shows last year, TRA, VTR, and Triumphest, will re-member Simon, as he worked with me at all three of these shows, actually doing most of the setting up and tearing down, as well as doing a good job of waiting on customers. We were both looking forward to attending the shows together again this year, and Simon was hoping that Janna and Felix would be able to attend at least one of them. If that could have happened, we would have had three generations of Runyans at the event. Needless to say, I am not working a regular schedule this week, as Simon’s funeral is scheduled for Saturday morning. Caroline flew home right away, and her husband and Clyde will come later this week. John-Paul and Janna both took the week off of work, and all of us have been together a lot. There is just one enormous hole that tears our hearts out. Caroline brought dinner to the farmhouse tonight for Albert, Melly, herself, and me, and when I walked up the lane, I was emotionally expecting Simon to be there in his home too. It is a constant shock that comes again and again all day long. As I am not working a full schedule, I asked to have the Web Site Special on “Rubber Body Seals and Gaskets” reposted this Friday. It was used back in January, and customers might like another crack at it anyway. I did

The Great Car ShowThe Great Car ShowThe Great Car ShowThe Great Car Show Before WWII, the first World War was simply called The Great War. To play off that, the car show to be held at the WWI Museum is called The Great Car Show. The show will be a benefit for the Kansas City Automotive Museum and the National World War 1 Museum and Memorial, presented by Aristocrat Motors. An inclusive and family friendly community car show, the event is open to the public and all years, makes and model vehicles are welcome. The anticipated number of vehicles on display is between 150 and 170, and will be representative of the Kansas City metro and surrounding communities. The event will be staged on the grounds SE of the National World War 1 Muse-um and Memorial on Sunday July 30th, and will include:

Music Reserved space for car clubs Food Trucks Promotional items from vendors Youth Judging Ride Alongs with Aristocrat Motors Educational Displays Discounted admission to the museum People’s Choice judging Pinstriping demonstrations Admission for spectators is $5, and registration for cars is $20. spend some time this evening adding the “new navigation” to it, hopefully making it easier to use this time around. I also extended the ending date of the “Weeklong Feature” head-lined above from this coming Friday to next Friday. Due to some glitches, it was late go-ing up last Friday anyway, and many custom-ers might have missed it, as it was not posted till after the end of the work day. Features always include a random list of parts, while Web Site Specials always stick to one subject. I am not sure how long it will take for me to get back to regular work days I am going to allow myself two weeks if required. I will con-tinue to do my work, and I want to do it bet-ter than ever in future in honour of Simon’s memory. I have suffered a staggering body blow, but I will not let TRF or its customers down, and other staff are handling orders and shipping parts this week as usual. Sincere regards, Charles A. KCMGCC WINE TOUR 01KCMGCC WINE TOUR 01KCMGCC WINE TOUR 01KCMGCC WINE TOUR 01----2017201720172017 The Camblin's will again host a tour of local wineries that Rob enjoys. Rob kind of does this on a last minute basis with not to much thought to the route but to the destination. This tour will encompass visiting at least two wineries with a possibility of a third. Rob suggest you pack a light lunch to go with your wine pairing as we will most likely not stop for a formal lunch. One of the wineries on the list to visit is near Hwy 13 and I-70, it also features a brewery for the non wine aficionado. The route is still under discussion and may in-clude some interstate for sake of time. But will be discussed with participants before leaving the Camblin's. Hope to see you there on June 3rd, 10:30 am at 17810 Hidden Valley Rd, Independence, MO 64057. If you need more info call Rob at 816.795.9628

Just the Tip: Stud RemovalJust the Tip: Stud RemovalJust the Tip: Stud RemovalJust the Tip: Stud Removal

By Tom Brobst, Keystone MG Club

(reprinted with permission of MG Driver magazine)

I want to show you how to make something useful by cutting a nut in half and put the

band saw to a lot of use.

Are you aware of all the studs that need to be removed and installed when rebuilding an engine? There are eleven studs that attach the head to the block, six for the intake/

exhaust manifold, three more for the thermostat housing, four for the rocker shaft as-

sembly… Studs everywhere!

They can be a pain to remove without damaging them. And even after they are re-moved and cleaned and the associated tapped holes are all cleaned out the studs still

don’t always go back in with just finger pressure like I wish. So what to do? Yes, you could go buy a stud remover/installer. I know. But that’s too easy. And I’d be con-

cerned about thread damage when removing really tight or corroded studs. So, what this camper did is take an appropriately sized nut and, come on, all together now….

cut it in half!

That’s right! Now I can nestle the two halves onto the threads of the stud and clamp

them tightly with a vise- grip and – voila! –I can turn the tightest stud with ease. It makes an incredibly tight grip and does absolutely no damage to the threads. In fact,

I’ve used the same method to actually restore damaged threads. Just loosen up on the

vise-grip pressure a bit and turn the half-nut set around the threads of a bolt or stud a

few times to restore the damaged area. Works great!

Check out the pics. One pic shows two sets of half-nuts I made for my MG, 5/16-24

and 3/8-24. I even color coded them! The other shows one set in action. Give it a try!

That’s it for this episode of Just the Tip. Feel free to share some of your garage...or

household...tips. I would love to hear from you. [email protected]

2017 MG Coast-to-Coast Adventure: This is not a NAMGBR organized event. Our members Dick Lunney and PJ Lenihan are organizing a drive from the east coast to San Diego. Put a tire in the Atlantic and a tire in Pacific at the beginning and end of a historic MG road trip of 8 days taking us across the southern United States to NAMGBR’s MG2017. Our tentative plans include using a southern route of secondary roads and some high speed interstates. Of course MG fans across the nation can join in anywhere. This plan has a couple short days for touring local sights. These short days also allow for catch up if anyone was delayed for un-scheduled repairs. Our model is the Rally to Reno in 2011 but with a more south-ern/southwestern flair.

For sale, a rare 1949 MGTC exu. This model was built for export and only 494 were manufactured. The odometer shows 14,179 miles on the original engine, transmission and differential. The car will come with what is believed to be an original user’s man-ual and parts book. Also included will be a tool roll with some original type tools, a spare set of original seats that will need reupholstering, original side curtains and replacement fabrics for new side curtains and some spare unused and used parts. The vinyl top, although not original, is in excellent condition. The black paint has a very good shine and the chrome is very good. This TC has a louvered racing style bonnet. The wooden portions of the tub are in excellent condition and the engine runs well. Though not a concours restoration, the car, which is not shown every year has won a second place in class award in the Heart-land Regional MG car show in 2007 and first place in class awards in 2008 and 2011. It was 1st in class in the Kansas City All British Regional Car Show in 2015. Both shows are long time regional shows in the Kansas City area. Overall I estimate the condition of the car as a good #2 car judged by the Hagerty definitions. For further information contact Stew Koesten at 913-269-5954 or [email protected] (7/16 INDEF)

Free Bonnet Struts A company called Pieces of Eight, http://www.mgstruts.com/index.html, run by Rick Ingram, NAMGBR MGB V8 Registrar, has donated a pair of bonnet struts for an alloy MGB bonnet, to KCMGCC. We’ll give them away via a drawing later this year. If you’d like to have your name in the drawing, just let one of the club officers know

you’re interested by Aug 1st. MGB Bonnet Struts: A pair of gas struts can now raise your bonnet effortlessly to an incredible 80 degrees! Struts give full access to the engine compartment, support the bonnet on both sides, and keep it level instead of letting it droop on one side. To close the bonnet, just pull it down gently and let the gas struts ease it down onto the catch. It’s that easy! Kits are available for steel, aluminum, or fiberglass bonnets; MGB or MGC.

MGB/MGC Boot Struts: The trunk strut kit lifts the boot lid to the normal height, but with two struts to support it on both sides and keep it level. The really big advantage of gas struts is that there’s no danger of damaging the boot lid by closing it before remembering to release a prop-catch. The price of our gas strut kit is less than having a bent boot lid repaired.

MGB/MGC GT Hatch Struts: What about hatchbacks? We have a great kit for that too! Press the release button and the hatch rises on its own. To close, just push down. Installation is simple, with only four holes to drill. It only takes 20 to 30 minutes.
