Mavs Minutes

Climbing The MountainThe Mavs come off of a post christmas weekend with 4 upcoming key divisional games this week. KC has 34pts in the Mountain Division, making points in these upcoming games key to staying on top of the close division where 6 points separate 1st place from 6th place. This upcoming weekend’s opponent, Rapid City, sits only 1 point behind Kansas City in the mountain division.

Raskob’s Apples Kansas City’s Willie Raskob is tied for sixth among defensemen with 17 assists.

Milestone WatchMark Cooper - 50 career ECHL Goals (49)Willie Raskob 100 career ECHL Games (97)Rocko Carzo- 150 career ECHL Assists (139)Greg Betzold- 50 career ECHL Points (49)

For the Boys5 Mavericks players have dressed for all of the team’s 29 games this season (VanWormer, Carzo, Goff, Sweeney, and Widman)

Mavericks Register 1KThe Kansas City Mavericks are currently 1,011 games into franchise history as we celebrate the 10th year as Kansas City’s hockey team.

Widman One-HundredCongrats to Nate Widman who suited up for his 100th career ECHL game when the Mavericks faced Tulsa before Christmas break. The Naperville, Illionois native who wears the ‘A’ for KC earned an appearance to the Stockton Heat AHL camp earlier this season. Way to go Wids!

150 for EickCongratulations to Mav’s own C.J. Eick who registered his 150th ECHL game in Idaho 12/15/18. The Appleton, Wisconsin navtive has 15 ECHL career goals, 23 assists and prior to joing the league, C.J. won a USHL Clark Cup champion in 2011-12 with the Green Bay Gamblers. Congrats Eicker!

Powerful PlayingThe Maverick’s home special teams have been solid this year converting on 14 of 56 attempts in our barn. This strong start has Mavs 2nd place in Home Team Power Play Rankings

That Was FastMavericks forward Mark Cooper set an ECHL record at Allen on Nov. 10, scoring a goal just two seconds following a score from Allen. It was the shortest amount of time between two goals in league history, besting the previous mark of three seconds, set in 1993. Cooper’s goal in that stretch, his second of the game, came off a clean faceoff win at center ice as he sent the puck into a yawning cage.
