Pre-universitys first assembly with the principal of SM La Salle.

    On the 20th

May, all the new batch of pre-university students were told to go to the

auditorium as the students of form 4 and form 5 were having their examinations. So, we

werent allowed to make any noise. Everyone were ecstatic and filled with enthusiasms

since it was our last orientation of the day and we would start our lessons next Monday. Moreover, that is also the day where we would meet the head of the school , the person

who made this school a success, and the source of the la sa lle spirit. It is none other than

the principal of the school herself, Puan Julia Willie Jock.

I was the Master of the Ceremony for the assembly and it was my first time to do so. I was

filled with excitement at the same time, fright and horror as I imagine myself being

humiliated in front of my peers. I tried to maintain calm and relax face on my outer shell.

Before she came in, I was fortunate to have time to ran my lines and that helped to loosen

myself before the actual assembly started. Puan Agatha Patris, the Head of the form 6, had

told me that she liked the way how the principal makes her speech. She mentioned that itgive her the chills until now.

After what I heard, I was eager to hear her speech myself. When it was time for the man of

the hour, or in this case woman of the hour, I was moved by her speech. She had a smooth

way to talk and touched into everyones heart with her speech.

In her speech she had welcomed us with open hearts and hoped that we would be better

than we were before. She still remembered the ex-lasallians and hope that they would

teach us the ropes around the school. She had said that she did not care if some of us were

here for a week, a day or two because Once a Lasallian, Always a Lasallian. And we had

already belong to her. She also mentioned that when we wear the badge of our school, we

must show a good image and maintain the schools name. Other than that, as a lasallian

and a senior to our younger juniors, we should be more disciplined and mature as well try

not let ourselves be sent into her office for disciplinary actions.

Furthermore, she would like if all of us to get our nose into the books very soon as STPM is

not the same SPM. The way we study now is different than before since it has more projects

and activities. She hopes that we could bring the school into a higher level of achievement

not only in academics but also in our curriculum. She intended that we should balance our

time to study and to have fun. I guess she wants to make sure our acceptance to the

university that we wanted and the course that we had chose.

She had warned all of us, especially the girls, to take good care of ourselves in an all boys

school. She also mentioned that even though some of us might have a relationship, we must

not get overboard as there are more fish in the sea. The students had laughed and sniggered

about the comment but we all know she was serious about it. She preferred if we would

think about our future first and love life later as we are still at stage of adulthood. She really

hoped that when we step out of this school, we would not only go out as students with

passing grades but as the future leaders of the world.

Lastly, she hoped that we would dig deeper in the meaning of the school song and within

these 15 months, we would become what she had hoped for. Through out her speech, I

could not stop myself from admiring her even more and I would say that all of us were veryfortunate to have her as our principal. I can say that she had shine a light in our life and we

will make sure we would strife our way to success.

As we had come to the end of the assembly, we all sang the school anthem and bid farewell

    to Puan Julia.
