Kaithari – in Tamil / Malayalam language means Hand Woven. Handloom history in India can be traced back to the

Indus Valley Civilization. The primary occupation of people next to Agriculture is weaving. Tholkappiyam, an ancient Tamil literature reflects weaving in its poems. Given the wide and exciting range of handlooms it is not surprising that

the rich and beautiful products of the weavers of India have been called “exquisite poetry in colorful fabrics”

The handloom industry in India is undoubtedly an integral part of our heritage. But with industrialization and mass production, machines are fast replacing people and it has become increasingly difficult for local weavers to sustain

their livelihoods.

From the little hamlets of Kerala & Tamil Nadu, India, we aspire to preserve and protect the art of traditional weavers & crafts people, whose trained hands have cast a magical spell by bringing trendy and superior quality home furnishing ideas. Our products are all handmade by weavers, practicing their traditional craft in village co-operatives. We select our weavers & craftswomen carefully to ensure that everything we sell is imbued with integrity

and artistry. Through our work, we help sustain their environment and family-oriented way of life.

We aim to promote handloom weaving, home textiles and the related crafts ; and create simple and beautiful textiles

of a high quality as a sustainable approach to generate self-employment in rural villages by integrating traditional design and cultural heritage to realize more marketable products

partnering with local weaving co-operatives in Kerala & Tamil Nadu (in South India) to design

contemporary home textiles. Our products are made from traditional ethnic fabrics, handmade on wooden

looms. Handloom’s unique quality is that of the hank yarn ( pictured above) which is 100% pure cotton

Our Products We offer a range of home furnishing textile products including bed and bath linen, table and kitchen linen, upholstery

fabrics and floor coverings. Our organic cotton fabrics include bed linen, yoga mats, kitchen linen, bath towels and more. Our Handloom products are distinctly recognizable due to their richness and feel of life in them.

Uniqueness : The specialty of our Handloom fabrics are the compact structure and texture of cloth, unique color combinations, skilled craftsmanship and color fastness due to excellent dyeing quality. The land has natural soft water source throughout the year, which is a boon for perfect dyeing of the first part of a very important process in Textiles. This ensure color fastness and reduces shrinkage (below 3%) . The products are distinctly recognizable by their richness and feel . The hefty loom that is used by the weavers gives extra life and vigor to the fabric. For our organic products we use herbal and ayurvedic dyes
