NEED FOR JUSTIFICATION - SIN-IT'S ORIGIN

DEFINITION OF SIN
• Sin means cutting our relationship with Almighty God and saying I don’t want You 1 John 3:4
• Sin of omission - Missing the mark • Sin of commission – Crossing mark
NATURE AND EXTENT OF SIN
• Nature of Sin
– Sin is basically “against God.” Ps. 51:4.– Sin is also against our fellow human beings. Lk.15:21– Sin is against ourselves. 1 Cor. 6:18. – Sin is a wilful action. Gen. 3:6-7– Sin is a wilful attitude. Matt. 5:22, 28
• Extent of Sin
– The DNA itself has been corrupted. – If I am sinner, my child is also sinner.– Since first man sinned, all the mankind in the universe
became sinners. Rom 3:9
WAYS OF SIN
• Inherited Sin – We got the nature from our parents Gen 5:3
• Imputed Sin – Adams sin has been imputed on us Rom 5:19
• Actual/Personal Sin – Our actions (including thoughts) Rom 3:23
RESULTS OF SIN

DOCTRINAL STATEMENT
“Justification is a judicial/ legal act of God, in which He declares, on the basis of Jesus Christ’s righteousness expressed through his death and resurrection, that all the claims of the law are satisfied with respect to sinner”.
MEANING OF JUSTIFICATION
• Derivation: • (Heb)- hibsdik =to justify, Justication • (Lt)-justificare=Justus+ facere = to make Righteous
• Justification x condemnation / Forgiveness x guilt
• Justification is not an experimental change from sin to holiness, but a judicial change from guilt to no-condemnation
WORLD VIEWS OF JUSTIFICATION
HINDUISM– Balance sin with good works. – Narakam - Swargam– No sin. All deception– Janma Rahithya– Vedas doesn’t accept. They demand sacrifice
ISLAM– Follow 5 Commands – Insha Allah
BUDDHISM – Kill the desire.
WORLD VIEWS OF JUSTIFICATION
Nominal Christianity Salvation is – Not Baptism– Not changing name– Not membership in church– Not attending church (from childhood)– Not living a life following the Bible – Not Reformation– Not having a Vision– Not speaking in tongues
• Salvation is an event like wedding. It doesn’t take days/months/years to get saved
MEANS OF JUSTIFICATION
• Jesus has come down, reducing Himself to Man• He died on the cross on our behalf in our place.• This is called Representation and Substitution

ASSURANCE OF SALVATION
“Assurance of salvation is a firm, inner confidence and certainty that I am God’s child, my sins are forgiven, and that one day I will be with Jesus, eternally.”

BASIS FOR ASSURANCE
