- Read through all of the instructions before beginning.- All of the seam allowances are 1/4” unless otherwise noted.- Press seam allowances open unless otherwise noted.- Width of fabric (WOF) is equal to at least 42” wide.- Right sides together has been abbreviated to RST.- Remember to measure twice and cut once!
From Fabric A, cut:• eighty Template 1 pieces Note: For the following cutting instructions, cut each shape in sets of eight from matching fabric. Example of a set: Cut eight of Template 2 from Fabric A for eight of the one hundred sixty pieces needed. More pieces will be cut from larger yardage amounts. Do not worry about cutting equal amounts from each fabric.
Tip: Cut Templates in the order listed below to maximize the yardage.
From Fabrics B-M (or for the Plum color story, Fabrics B-J), cut:• one hundred sixty Template 2 pieces (cut 20 sets of eight matching pieces)• one hundred sixty Template 4 pieces (cut 20 sets of eight matching pieces) for the
diamond border• one hundred sixty Template 3 pieces (in identical fabric sets as the Template 4 pieces ) for
the diamond border • one hundred sixty Template 3 piecees (cut 20 sets of eight matching pieces) for the inner
diamonds
To aid the piecing process, transfer and mark the dots from each of the templates onto the wrong side of the fabric pieces.
From the binding fabric, cut:• eight 2-1/2” x WOF strips
Start and stop all seams at the marked dots you transferred from the templates during the cutting process.
Sew an inner diamond to a border diamond (both cut from Template 3. Press toward the border.

Press seams open. These are very short seams, but pressing will aid in the piecing that is to come.
Pin the Template 1 units (that are sewn together) to the block. Marked dot on the Template 1 pieces will match and be pinned at the point of the diamond as shown on the diagram. Match and pin the creases to the remaining diamond points. Place additional pins between the creases and the marked dots. Sew around the entire circle in one seam, with the pieced block on the bottom and the Template 1 pieces on top.
