Deany was recently awarded the Francine Shapiro award for excellence by the EMDR International Association. She currently maintains a private clinical and consultation practice in Washington, DC. ABSTRACT: Based on the popular webinar series, this advanced workshop is about how and when to apply cognitive interweave strategies using the Clinical Interweave Categories (CIC) developed by Laliotis & Korn, 2015, to address the demands of EMDR therapy through the lens of attachment. A review of the adult attachment styles will be offered as a conceptual map to help identify what is needed moment to moment when processing early attachment trauma. Additionally, you will learn about adaptations that develop in response to these formative attachment experiences and how that informs the application of specific interweave strategies to effectively repair and correct the maladaptive learning’s and develop new, more adaptive styles of relating to self and others. Videotaped examples of actual clients will be reviewed. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to experiment with the different strategies throughout the course. There will also be a live demonstration. Participants will be able to: 1. Identify the 9 Clinical Interweave Categories (CIC) and their purposes. Learn how and when to intervene using CICs to address moment-to-moment processing demands. 2. Identify the four adult attachment styles and the implications for EMDR processing. (30 minutes) 3. Identify developmental plateaus and the corresponding adaptations to attachment trauma. 4. Learn how and when to apply specific CICs to repair and correct early attachment wounds. 5. Learn how to use CICs to address attachment-related phenomena during processing (e.g., can’t feel; feels too much; afraid of therapist’s reaction). 6. Distinguish between survival responses versus attachment-related responses. To register for this event, please click here.
