Title : Junior Research Officer Reporting Structure: Junior Research Officer reports to the Directors Summary of Position: To identify, collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate information on TTASPE initiatives across the Caribbean region. Duties & Responsibilities Specific Duties: To develop an overall research framework for TTASPE To work on specific research projects employing a range of different research methodologies and specifications To work in partnership with others, both inside and outside of TTASPE, to ensure the efficient planning of research initiatives and the successful outcome of research projects Develop, implement, and manage systems and procedures to meet the research needs of TTASPE To promote the use of quality standards for research across the organization To input to the development of regular reporting mechanisms for research and monitoring activities To design appropriate data collection tools for respective projects To facilitate training of personnel involved in the data collection process for respective projects To conduct data analyses using relevant quantitative and qualitative techniques To provide advice on the limitations of any data as regards statistical reliability To present results of analyses in a clear and concise manner, orally, in writing and graphically To prepare reports and case studies based on research initiatives To deliver presentations to local, regional and/or international audiences as may be required To ensure quality control of research To ensure that any specified procedures for fulfilling the requirements for security/confidentiality of information are maintained To perform other duties as required which are considered relevant to the post and to the TTASPE’s vision and objectives JOB DESCRIPTION JUNIOR RESEARCH OFFICER

Criteria/Person Specification Qualities Essential Desirable

Qualifications / Training

Degree or equivalent in appropriate discipline e.g. social research, planning, statistics, recent and relevant continuing self development

Knowledge and Experience

Knowledge and experiences in analytical research, collaborative methodologies and computer-based analysis tools;

Experience in processing and analysis of data and information documentation

Minimum of one year of relevant experience, related to research and/or information management

Experience in writing and producing research outputs

Some fieldwork experience

Familiarity and appreciation of the mission, purpose and values of a NGO

Skills Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing, graphical representation and high level document preparation skills

Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Qualitative and quantitative research skills including data analysis and interpretation skills

Ability to think strategically, with strong analytical, judgement and decision making skills

Ability to maintain excellent standards of accuracy

Time management and task prioritization skills

Flexibility, responsiveness and resilience

Possess good interpersonal skills

ability to produce effective clear and concise presentations to groups

The ability to contribute to and work effectively within a team environment

Networking Skills

Good computer skills i.e. competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Powerpoint etc.
