Fall Recruitment

Fall recruitment is coming up. This means all hands on

deck! We will all be conducting classroom presentations

and participating in efforts to make this recruitment as

successful as the previous ones. If you want help with the

pitch you can speak with TM. COMM will be updating the

powerpoint and assigning everyone to presentations. We

got this!

Events

Stand Out!

With any big project complications will arise. Especially

when everything is just starting to look perfect. Stand Out!

was no exception to this. We had two speakers drop out

on us, posters were late, and half our members failed to

show up. Despite this we were able to accommodate 30

attendees on June 29 on a FRIDAY MORNING. That is

surreal.

Our very own Ryan stepped

up to replace one of the

speakers and did a

spectacular talk on

Impression Management.

Colleen McGoff Dean, a

KPU professor, gave us

great tips on communication, and Ross Laird gave an

enlightening talk on Leadership, Personal Development,

and picked up where our social media speaker dropped

out. All in all, it was a huge success. Great job to Amrita

and everyone who helped make this happen.

KED Talks

KED is coming along swimmingly. The dates are set,

rooms are booked and most of the speakers are

confirmed! Here are the dates of each seminar:

1. Sept. 13: Finances & the Economy

2. Sept. 18: Emotional Intelligence

3. Sept. 26: Networking & Communication

4. Oct. 10: Social Media & Technology

Each seminar will happen from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, so

make time to attend as we have many external

speakers coming.

If you would like to be a part of the marketing of this

event, please talk to OCP KED, Joseph.

Portfolio Party

OGX

We are currently preparing our next EP for review board.

Let’s hope she gets approved and we can send her on her

way! We are also trying to get a partnership with the

international department to see if we can turn their

“rejects” into prospects!

Did you know that EP at

AIESEC KPU has to

meanings? EXCHANGE

PARTICIPANT and now

EXCITEMENT

PROGRAM! That’s right. OGX is creating an EP EP to

improve EP retention and AIESEC experience quality.

COMM

Did you read the article about our EP Irwin on the school

website? That’s BAMA number 4! We will be promoting

different countries for the next month: Brazil, Russia,

China, India, and Japan. Check out the tweets &

Facebook page for updates on opportunities abroad.

Speaking of abroad, our VP COMM, Hardeep, will be

going to India for 2 weeks. Jojo will be handling business

for the time being as VP COMM proxy.

CR

CR met with envision financial to discuss the GIP. We

have presented sample resumes for two positions:

network administrator and software developer. Hopefully,

we can get another intern to fill in the position soon.

Kitply Industries is currently going through some changes

in business and we are waiting for further information, but

hopefully our Moroccan intern does not have to wait much

longer!

Finance

Great job to our Finance team for getting us a summer

marketer approved. Unfortunately no one was able to

take the position. Currently, Finance will be contacting

companies for sponsorship and purchasing a new

banner! An Audit is also coming up, so the books are

being prepared.

TM

PDTs are ongoing and only OGX, CR, and TM are left!

The GA’s are also being restructured. If you have

suggestions as to how you would like to see the GA’s e-

mail [email protected]

AR (Alumni Relations)

Brian Mackie will be transferring from COMM to AR. What

is AR you ask? For the first time ever AIESEC KPU will be

starting an AR portfolio, which aims to utilize any alumni

we may have.

We all know that our only alumni over the past three years

has been Stevie, so Brian

hopes to take advantage

of KPU alumni, AND

alumni from other

AIESEC chapters who

may have possibly

moved to BC.

If you have any questions

regarding Brian’s plans for AR you can find his information

in the contact document. We are certain Brian will do

AIESEC KPU proud!

Conference Mania!

WRC 2012

AIESEC SFU is hosting Western Regional Conference

2012. This means no flight fees for us!

Learn and connect with AIESECers from BC to Manitoba

during Thanksgiving weekend!

Page 10: June/July 2012 Issue 4

9

For those of you who have yet to attend a conference

WRC is the cheapest option. If you use the school of

business fund allotted to AIESEC KPU student members

this conference will be free! So, use the fund for your first

conference or if you haven’t already used it, take

advantage of it! SFU will provide us with more details in

the near future.

And that, KPU, is what’s up.

May we all welcome the challenges of the rest of the

year with open arms and strong will.
