THE PRELUDE

“O Come to the Altar” by Chris Brown, Mack Brock,

Chris Massa, piano Steven Furtick and Wade Joye

1) Are you hurting and broken within, overwhelmed by the weight of your sin? Jesus is calling.

Have you come to the end of yourself; do you thirst for a drink from the well? Jesus is calling.

Refrain O come to the altar; the Father’s arms are open wide.

Forgiveness was bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

2) Leave behind your regrets and mistakes. Come today, there’s no reason to wait. Jesus is calling.

Bring your sorrows and trade them for joy; from the ashes a new life is born. Jesus is calling. Refrain

Bridge Oh what a Savior, isn’t he wonderful. Sing alleluia, Christ is risen!

Bow down before him for he is Lord of all. Sing alleluia, Christ is risen!

Repeat

3) Bear your cross as you wait for the crown. Tell the world of the treasure you’ve found. Refrain

THE ENTRANCE HYMN

“There’s a Wideness in God’s Mercy” The Hymnal 1982 #470

Music is at the back of this bulletin

1) There’s a wideness in God’s mercy like the wideness of the sea;

there’s a kindness in his justice, which is more than liberty.

There is welcome for the sinner, and more graces for the good;

there is mercy with the Savior; there is healing in his blood.

2) There is no place where earth’s sorrows are more felt than up in heav’n;

there is no place where earth’s failings have such kindly judgment giv’n.

There is plentiful redemption in the blood that has been shed;

there is joy for all the members in the sorrows of the Head.

3) For the love of God is broader than the measure of the mind;

and the heart of the Eternal is most wonderfully kind.

If our love were but more faithful, we should take him at his word;

and our life would be thanksgiving for the goodness of the Lord.

THE ACCLAMATION

Celebrant Blessed be God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

People And blessed be his kingdom, now and forever. Amen.

THE COLLECT FOR PURITY

The Celebrant and People pray together

Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hid: Cleanse

the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and

worthily magnify your holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE SUMMARY OF THE LAW

The Celebrant prays

Hear what our Lord Jesus Christ says: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all

your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You

shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets. Matthew 22:37-40

THE LESSONS

PSALM 130

Read by Carli Watson

1

Out of the deep have I called unto you, O LORD; LORD, hear my voice. 2

O let your ears consider well the voice of my supplications. 3

If you, LORD, were to mark what is done amiss, O LORD, who could abide it? 4

For there is mercy with you; therefore you shall be feared. 5

I wait for the LORD; my soul waits for him; in his word is my trust. 6

My soul waits for the LORD, more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning. 7

O Israel, trust in the LORD, for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption; 8

And he shall redeem Israel from all their sins.

Reader The Word of the Lord.

People Thanks be to God.

2) You're rich in love, and you're slow to anger, your name is great, and your heart is kind.

For all your goodness I will keep on singing ten thousand reasons for my heart to find. Refrain

still my soul will sing your praise unending ten thousand years and then forevermore. Refrain

THE GOSPEL

Mark 3:20-35

Read by Mother Andrea

Assisting Priest The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark.

People Glory to you, Lord Christ.

3 20And the crowd came together again, so that [Jesus and the twelve] could not even eat. 21When his family

heard it, they went out to restrain him, for people were saying, “He has gone out of his mind.” 22And the

scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He has Beelzebul, and by the ruler of the demons he casts

out demons.” 23And he called them to him, and spoke to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out

Satan? 24If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25And if a house is divided against

itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he

cannot stand, but his end has come. 27But no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his property

without first tying up the strong man; then indeed the house can be plundered. 28“Truly I tell you, people

will be forgiven for their sins and whatever blasphemies they utter; 29but whoever blasphemes against the

Holy Spirit can never have forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”— 30for they had said, “He has an

unclean spirit.”

31Then his mother and his brothers came; and standing outside, they sent to him and called him. 32A crowd

was sitting around him; and they said to him, “Your mother and your brothers and sisters are outside, asking

for you.” 33And he replied, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” 34And looking at those who sat around

him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 35Whoever does the will of God is my brother and

sister and mother.”

Assisting Priest The Gospel of the Lord.

People Praise to you, Lord Christ.

THE NICENE CREED

The People are invited to stand. BCP 2019 p. 127

Celebrant Let us confess our faith in the words of the Nicene Creed:

Celebrant and People together say

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty,

maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, visible and invisible.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,

the only-begotten Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father,

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made,

of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven,

was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;

he suffered death and was buried.

On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures;

he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit,

the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,

who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified,

who has spoken through the prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.

We acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

Led by Mac Watson

After each petition

Intercessor Lord, in your mercy

People Hear our prayer.

The Celebrant concludes

Heavenly Father, grant these our prayers for Jesus Christ’s sake, our only Mediator and Advocate, who

lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

THE CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION OF SIN

Assisting Priest Let us humbly confess our sins to Almighty God.

A brief silence will be kept. BCP 2019 p. 129

All together pray

Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed,

by what we have done, and by what we have left undone.

We have not loved you with our whole heart;

we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.

We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.

For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us;

that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Page 6: JUNE 6, 2021 10:00 2ND SUNDAY AFTER P N

5

The Celebrant stands and says

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, who in his great mercy has promised forgiveness of sins to all those

who sincerely repent and with true faith turn to him, have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all

your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and bring you to everlasting life; through Jesus Christ

our Lord. Amen.

THE PEACE

The People are invited to stand.

Celebrant The peace of the Lord be always with you.

People And with your spirit.

The Ministers and the People may greet one another in the name of the Lord.

The Celebrant says a sentence of Scripture.

The People remain seated as the table is prepared.

ANTHEM

“Be Still, My Soul” Words: Katharina von Schlegel

Sung by the choir Music: Finlandia, Jean Sibelius

1) Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side; bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;

leave to thy God to order and provide; in every change he faithful will remain.

Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heavenly friend through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

2) Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake to guide the future as he has the past.

Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake; all now mysterious shall be bright at last.

Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know his voice who ruled them while he dwelt below.

3) Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on when we shall be forever with the Lord,

when disappointment, grief, and fear are gone, sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored

Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past, all safe and blessed we shall meet at last. Amen.

The People stand and sing as the tithes and offerings are brought forward.

The Celebrant continues

It is right, our duty and our joy, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, Creator of

heaven and earth. Through Jesus Christ our Lord; who on the first day of the week overcame death and the

grave, and by his glorious resurrection opened to us the way of everlasting life.

Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all the company of heaven,

who for ever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name:

THE PRAYER OF CONSECRATION

The People are invited to kneel, sit or stand to pray.

The Celebrant continues

Holy and gracious Father: In your infinite love you made us for yourself; and when we had sinned against

you and become subject to evil and death, you, in your mercy, sent your only Son into the world for our

salvation. By the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary he became flesh and dwelt among us. In obedience to

your will, he stretched out his arms upon the cross and offered himself once for all, that by his suffering

and death we might be saved. By his resurrection he broke the bonds of death, trampling Hell and Satan

under his feet. As our great high priest, he ascended to your right hand in glory, that we might come with

confidence before the throne of grace.

On the night that he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks, he

broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take, eat; this is my Body which is given for you: Do this in

remembrance of me.”

Likewise, after supper, Jesus took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink

this, all of you; for this is my Blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for you, and for many, for the

forgiveness of sins: Whenever you drink it, do this in remembrance of me.”

Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith:

Celebrant and People

Christ has died.

Christ is risen.

Christ will come again.

The Celebrant continues

We celebrate the memorial of our redemption, O Father, in this sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving, and

we offer you these gifts.

Sanctify them by your Word and Holy Spirit to be for your people the Body and Blood of your Son Jesus

Christ. Sanctify us also, that we may worthily receive this holy sacrament, and be made one body with him,

so that he may dwell in us and we in him. And bring us with all your saints into the fullness of your heavenly

kingdom, where we shall see our Lord face to face. All this we ask through your Son Jesus Christ: By him,

and with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honor and glory is yours, Almighty Father,

now and for ever. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name,

thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
