fall into shape. We have been increasing distribution every week
and expanding our areas of coverage. Its been a blast meeting all
the new people. Look for us soon, coming to an area near you.
I'm ramping up for some real busy weeks coming up. Everybody is out doing their
summer tours and we will be the first to keep you Plug'd In to what's going on in the
area. We’ve got the website up and running, so make sure you check it out. I know, its
cheesy and low-tech, but hey, we are just starting out.
We are always looking for help. If you’ve got a talent you can bring to the table...let
us know! We want to do our very best and your help would be much appreciated! We
could use some graphic designers, street team, distribution, photographers, promoters,
and spammers.
Well Im out for this week. Ill see you guys around and thanks for your support!
Your feedback is very important to us and we aim to please you. Where do you want
us to come? What shows should we review? What bands are killing the scene? Who’s
your favorite, or who can’t you stand? We want to know!

On Tour w/ Madam Adam
I recently had the enjoyment of sitting down
with Scott Gould (Vocals/guitar) and Drew Re-
indollar (guitar) of Road Runner national re-
cording artist Madam Adam. I caught up with
them fresh off their set in Philadelphia, at The
Theater of Living Arts opening for Halestorm..
You couldn’t find two more laid back guys con-
sidering they just finished a high-energy per-
formance gaining a few hundred new fans in the
process, I am sure. Only a few shows into the
tour and they are already sold out of CDs. This
is a good sign of things to come from these four
guys. It’s not everyday you hear a new support
act on a tour that sounds as crisp and radio
friendly in person, as they would on your iPod.
Luckily today was one of those days.
Madam Adam in Philadelphia, PA. Theater of Living Arts. The TLA.
PI: How’s the tour been going?
MA: Great! Thanks for asking. Being out with Halestorm and their fans is a great opportunity to get our music out
there. They have a devoted fan base and everywhere we go they have hundreds of fans show up early. Thankfully
they have really been into our music. We have already sold out of our Cds. For our first real tour out, we couldn’t
be with a better group of artists.
PI: What are some of your musical influences?
MA: Anything from our parents playing Phil Collins and Madonna back in the 80’s to a lot of grunge. Nirvana was
a huge influence. We dig a lot of music happening right now as well.
PI: How has it been being with Road Runner records?
MA: They are very good to us. We are still considered a baby band and they want us to
be nurtured the way we should be and be taken care of. Amy is GREAT! I feel we ended
up in a wonderful situation.
PI: Any favorite places you’ve been so far?
MA: Everywhere has been enjoyable. The Syracuse cats were really great also last night
in Worcester, PA. In Jermyn, PA the venue was really awesome. It had a roller skating
rink above it and batting cages right next to it. It was Halestorm’s one-year anniversary
for their record release. We all hung out after the show in the batting cages and got to
celebrate everyone’s good fortune so far. As a matter of fact, all the gigs have been fun so
far.
PI: Are you guys in control of all your social networking sites?
MA: Yeah, Facebook, Myspace, Youtube, Flickr, Vimeo and Twitter to name a few.
We handle all of that ourselves. We love the fan interaction.
Please check out our good friend Curt Ridall’s
music blog with news and photos @
www.wallfliproductions.com
PI: What can Madam Adam fans expect at a live show?
MA: They can expect us to put on a great live show full of energy and passion. It’s like
having sex with a girl; you want a reaction from her. We feed off of the crowds energy.
The more they give the more we give back. More than that we’re genuine, nice guys who
put everything into our performances and then want to hang out and meet our fans after-
wards. Our fans can bring us roses anytime. We are more than happy to take pictures and
sign whatever they’d like. We would be nothing without our fans and do not take any-
thing for granted.
PI: What can your fans look forward to in the upcoming year from you guys?
MA: Hopefully a re-
cord! The recording is in the can; we are just
waiting to release it. Road Runner has a lot of
releases this summer and they didn’t want us to
get buried. Other than that we are just trying
to jump on any tours we can and get our name
out there. Most importantly all our fans
should watch for us coming to a city near them
and make sure to come out and say hi.
PI: Thanks again guys for sitting down and
keeping us Plug’d In. Best of luck, you guys
deserve all that you receive on your journeys.
MA: Cheers, anytime. Thanks for coming out.
With pounding riffs, most recently resem-
blance of Breaking Benjamin and grunge gui-
tar punishment that would make Kurt Cobain proud, Madam Adam brings a little bit of everything to the plate for
the next generation of rock fans. Scott’s vocals tie everything together in a very familiar, yet completely different
mainstream sound that we are used to. If you haven’t had the chance to check them out, make sure you do when-
ever you can. Keeping with the trend that these guys continue to make great music and put on a killer live set.
Bundled with great personalities, a sense of humor, an over-whelming mind state to mingle with their fans and
maybe even a life sized paper mache horse. We’ll be seeing these guys for years to come.

Plug’d In Rock Band of the
Month
Stand outside a suburban Philadelphia
basement window at 12:10 am and you
usually won’t hear much more than the
whisper of the wind. That is, unless you
happen to walk by the studio of newcom-
ers Leaving Midnight. The band, named
after their propensity to play well into the
night, draws its roots from two college
neighbors who spent their nights laughing
at (and secretly loving) the spectacle of
80’s metal videos. Laughter led to music.
Music led to creativity and inspiration.
After a few years playing in various indi-
vidual bands, everything came together, and Leaving Midnight was born.
One spin of the lead single “Terminal” and it’s clear that this group of seasoned musicians has a
passion that others can only imitate. In an industry where others “polish” their music until there’s
nothing left, Leaving Midnight is a refreshingly raw, yet refined mix of energy and radio-ready
hooks.
Frontman Chris Harper’s soul-filled melodies and storytelling lyrics soar above an audio assault
of heavy riffs and blended guitar solos produced by John Calvello and Rob Palanza. Couple this
with Derek Slifer’s driving drums and the thick bass of Joe Megonigal and the band’s instrumen-
tation is enough to enjoy on its own. Put all together, the result is a band that resonates in more
than just a listener’s ears.
Leaving Midnight is currently preparing to enter the studio to record their first EP.

Automatic Fire, “No Decoy”
While my main focus in listening and review-
ing music is metal, I couldn’t help but share this band
with everyone else. My brother recently attended the
MMR Barbeque featuring bands such as Three Days
Grace and the legendary Alice in Chains. To open up
for Alice in Chains, a band that re-invented hard rock
is more than impressive and deserves at least a little
attention, but I digress. When my brother told me
about them, I liked the name but when I visited their
MySpace I was a little skeptical just because their
genre listing is rock and Electronica. After taking a
listen to the EP that my brother brought home, I de-
cided that this was worth listening to.
The EP demonstrates what a modern rock album should sound like, and they only did it with five songs.
Every song has some kind of crunchy bass line to drive the song forward with plenty of melody that listeners can
get hooked to and the electronica that I feared when first reading about the band is simply a nice synth to go over
the riffs that actually fits very well with the music.
In my opinion, the top two songs of the EP that almost everyone will fall in love with are “The World” and
“Whipping Boy.” Both have great single potential and are easy to move around to. “The World” is more of heavier
hard rock song, while “Whipping Boy” almost has a southern rock sound it with the chugging notes in the verse.
While their five song EP titled, “No Decoy” isn’t the greatest piece of recorded music in the world; it gives
people of the rock community hope that once the older bands (Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, etc…) retire
the genre won’t be left without a breath of fresh air. There are definitely bigger and better things to come for
Automatic Fire and “No Decoy” is a great way to showcase the bands talent while still keeping some of their tal-
ents hidden from us. You’ll like this band if you like Stone Temple Pilots with an odd combination of Snow Pa-
trol. A truly wonderful alternative mix with a little bit of a Zeppelin throw back to keep the older fans happy. Cur-
rently unsigned, Automatic Fire should be a household name soon enough and when they are, you heard about
them from here first. You can find out more about the band at,

Spotlight on:Penn Ave Music
We stopped in Penn Ave. Music and got a
chance to sit down and talk with store manager
Mark Kohl. Mark gave us some insight on the
areas local musician heaven.
PI: I see you just got a huge shipment of drums
in just now. Do you guys run through huge vol-
umes of equipment like this regularly?
MK: We do. The drum sets we just got in are a
more cost efficient type set geared towards the
student or beginning drummer. When we get them in, we get them by the dozen. They fly pretty
well for us. We get a lot of guitars in bulk as well.
PI: Can somebody get pretty much anything
they’re looking for at Penn Ave. Music?
MK: Pretty much as long as we are a dealer of the
equipment. There is some stuff that we aren’t a
dealer of, but can still get, if it’s carried through
an independent representative. We carry ESP,
Pearl, Dean, and a bunch others. If we don’t have
something in the store, we can usually get it for
you.
PI: Do you guys do online sales?
MK: We don’t do online sales. We are a small lo-
cal business and we would like to keep it that way. We like to meet our customers and deal with
them face to face. Our customers know they’re getting a quality product and a quality service.
PI: How did Penn Ave. Music get its start?
MK: The owner Kathy opened the store 22 years
ago. She was working for her mother in law at
Michaels Music. She was selling music toys and
trinkets like kazoos. Lots of people would come
in and ask her “Where are the Guitars and
Drums”? She then decided to go out on her own
and do her own thing.
PI: How is business?
MK: Business is great. Every year it picks up.
Even with the way the economy is, we are still
going strong. A lot of it has to deal with our customer service. We offer services you don’t get at a
chain store. We treat our customers well.
PI: Do you guys offer lessons or practice or re-
hearsal space?
MK: We do not have rehearsal space. We do have
teachers here. The teachers don’t work for us, we
just rent them a space. Shane from the band Jeal-
ousy Curve is our Drum Instructor. Hes been here
forever. We have 3 guitar instructors that come in.
They focus on all types and styles of music. They do
their job very well.
PI: What makes Penn Ave the hidden gem that it is?
MK: The basic thing is our customer service. We are
all about our customers and will do whatever we can to help them out. We have a lot of people that
come here just to have someone to talk with about music. One thing that we do that some places
don’t is that we go over all of our guitars before they even hit the shop. When they come off the
truck our Tech goes over them and does a complete set up on them. We make sure the neck is
straight and the bridge is set up right. That’s something you won’t get at the chain stores. We will
go the extra mile to make sure the customer is happy.
PI: Does Penn Ave. Music support local music?
MK: All the time. We do a thing here every year
where we have the bands play in the parking lot.
We run huge sales to give back to the bands. We
go out to the local venues to see the bands per-
form. We are very supportive of the local music
scene. If it wasn’t for the local musician we
wouldn’t even be in business. We want to thank
everyone who supports us and does business
with us.
PI: Thanks Mark for getting us Plug’d In.
MK: Thank you guys. Plug’d In is a great maga-
zine and we love working with you guys.

All Ages Show
Doors @ 6pm
Tickets $14.00
The Breakdown w/ Bandi The May Metal Massacre at The Silo on Saturday, May 22, was indeed a mas-
sacre, with earsplitting vocals, deafening drum lines, and killer guitar solos. The
show was put on by veteran promoter and music lover Skip, of Bizr Entertain-
ment.
All Our Rage was a very high-energy show with dual singers that complimented
each other nicely. It was easy to see that they were having a great time on stage
and was felt by the few onlookers that were there. I wish there were more
bands having a great time like All Our Rage. It makes the show more fun to
watch.
Ollipeist had sound problems at first, but recovered nicely by the second song.
It did seem to shake the vocalist up a bit, because he seemed nervous the rest of
their set. They had a good sound, though by the end, I couldn’t really tell the
difference between one song and the next. I also felt like they were lacking
stage presence.
Sinister Realm opened with a dedication to the late great Ronnie James Dio, who had an obvious influence on the
sound of the band. The lead singer had great range with his vocals, but the lead guitarist seemed to have more en-
ergy than the other four members combined. So far, they had the largest turnout of the night.
Mourning, in my opinion, was the most extreme band of the night. They had very fast very synchronized guitars
and a heavy drum line. The vocals definitely had volume over the rest, but louder is not always better. If extreme is
your thing, then Mourning is for you.
Polterchrist had a good rhythm, but not a lot of movement on the stage. Granted, the singer was also playing the
guitar, but there wasn’t much going on to watch. The sound was good though, with heavy riffs and throaty vocals.
Divination had an awesome bass line, with a great sound as a whole. What I liked best was that none of their songs
sounded the same. Vocals had a broad range, and I loved how they changed the tuning of the guitars. Divination
was also featured as our last issue’s Metal Band of the Month.
Faith or Fear had the best breakdowns of the night with the classic sound for which metal is known. Anyone who is
into metal that still has guitar solos would like Faith or Fear. They had a great sound and great crowd interaction.
At War consisted of drums, a guitar and a bass, but I thought they were the best sounding band of the night. They
weren’t too extreme, and had a great stage set up that included machine guns mounted on the drum kit and combat
gear attire. The singer/bassist’s growly tone to his voice just topped everything off so perfectly.
As a whole, it was a great show. The only disappointment was the small turnout. These are some awesome bands
putting on great shows, and I wish more people would come out to the events. Your next favorite band could be
waiting.

Getting Metal w/ Travis Ryan of Cattle Decapitation
Interview with Travis Ryan from Cattle Decapitation
By Nicolle Marie
On the U.S SPRING HEADLINE TOUR
Promoting newest album “The Harvest Floor”
PI: Travis, how’s tour been going so far?
TR: It’s been alright, kinda tired, kind of not really in shape, haha, to be touring, I
don’t know. It always comes out of the middle of nowhere. But it’s been going
good.
PI: Anything crazy happen? Or is everything going smooth?
TR: Oh you know, there’s the usual douchbag or two within the bunch but um,
everything’s been alright, it’s been cool. The shows have been amazing. They’ve
all been packed; the response has been really good for everyone.
PI: Do you enjoy playing in Pennsylvania?
TR: Well…
PI: Haha! Be honest.
TR: Well yea for the most part, I mean there’s too many places, like, Allentown is usually pretty good, actually,
they’ve never let us down. But there’s some weird little areas, I don’t know. Sometimes Pittsburgh’s a dud, and you
know, stuff like that. For the most part yes! It’s just a long state and we’re kinda sick of driving through it haha. You
have to drive completely through it to really get anywhere. But apart from that, it’s a great place.
PI: So you’ve had a number of member changes in the past. How is Dave (David McGraw-Newest drummer) work-
ing out?
TR: Good! We love him. He’s really helped us step everything up.
PI: Have you been getting along with him more so than with your last drummer?
TR: Umm, no, not necessarily. I mean everybody has their quirks, and issues, like I’m sure there are plenty of things
I do that piss people off, that I have no idea of. Lack of communication has always been a problem. But, no, I mean
he’s the same. One thing I could say is that’s he’s much more advanced as far as playing goes, from anybody that
we’ve ever had. But that’s kinda obvious.
PI: I’ve heard he contributes more to the writing process. Is that true?
TR: Yeah. At least on The Harvest Floor he has. We were surprised; we never had a drummer that wrote riffs or
anything, so that was kinda different. But yea, we were really open to whatever he had in mind because we were
really stalking him for a while, haha, you know, knowing that he was the guy we should get, for a while, and fi-
nally.. we pounced haha.
PI: Oh so you went after him?
TR: Absolutely, and we finally got him.
PI: In you’re newest album you were able to combine melody and grind in a perfect balance, because of this, do you
feel that “The Harvest Floor” is your best album?
TR: Yes! That’s pretty much what we’ve been trying to do for a while, to see how interesting we can make total ex-
treme noise sound. And we don’t even scratch the surface, there’s plenty of bands that do it way more intense and
way better than we do. We are trying to bring the melodic element into it as much as possible without sacrificing our
core sound, which has always been the really extreme shit.
PI: You’re artwork on “The Harvest Floor” is a lot less gruesome than your past
albums, such as “To Serve Man”, is there any particular reason for this?
TR: Well, it’s conceptual. So that trumps any other reason, I mean we’re really not
a “gore band”, I’d say we’re just more of a conceptual band.
PI: Plus I know you have a purpose behind your music..
TR: Well yea, and also we never wanted to be put into a corner really, as far as
calling ourselves a ”gore band” or a “voodoo death metal band” haha we don’t like
putting ourselves in a genre. We always want to branch out and do things differ-
ently. I think the worst thing we can do, or the stupidest thing we could do, is
make a gory cover, just for the sake of saying “oh we gotta have a gory cover on
this”.. We don’t need to make that our focal point.
But, ill tell you right now, the cover idea we have for the next album DESTROYS
any of the past covers we’ve done, ever. It’s fucking gnarly. But again, I don’t
know how we’re going to use it, when it’s almost like; you have to artistically
package it the right way. Like, if you look at the inside of “The Harvest Floor”
there’s gore all over the place. The cover can’t really.. I mean to get it into stores
you have to “play the game right”, you know, with the label and shit, you have to
make the man happy and make everybody happy. It kinda presents a challenge as far as how can we make our covers
safe enough to be in stores but not sacrifice or compensate for that artistically.
PI: Have you ever had a label say you can’t have this, or you have to change this?
TR: Well yea, that’s exactly what they did for “Humanure”, and we’re just like here, whatever, we just said do what-
ever. And they pretty much said, well, give us something or we’ll fucking make something ourselves. And I didn’t trust
any of them; I don’t trust anyone with that type of stuff. So it’s whatever, you flip the CD over and that’s what you get,
a barren waste land without the cow shitting out human remains. I mean it’s dumb, but it worked. Honestly, ever since
then I was like, alright, if that’s the game we have to play, then there’s no sense fighting them. Plus the last 2 albums
really didn’t call for gory covers, but this new one really does, I mean the image I found was just too prefect. It hit me
and I was like yep there it is! I’ll tell you it’s going to be gross, a lot like our earlier albums.
PI: So what’s next for Cattle Decapitation?
TR: We’re supposed to do some international shit, it’s looking like we’re going to be in South East Asia and Australia,
and we’re already supposed to be going to Europe in July, and some other stuff like that. We are really just weighing
our options right now and figuring out what to do.
TR: And also we’re going to be headlining a US tour in October. But no details on that yet.
PI: What would you say to other bands that look up to you and draw inspiration from you? How did you get you’re
break, or how could they?
TR: Well I would say don’t quit your day job, haha. Go to school if you can. Seriously, I don’t know, it’s a fleeting
thing. I’ve been doing it for a while and like yea, it’s great, its cool, but it’s only been 13 years out of a whole life time.
Unless you want to tour for the rest of your life, and I know some people can, it’s gnarly, ya now, I know I can’t do this
forever.
PI: Alright well thank you Travis!
TR: Yes, and thank you!

to be crude or offensive. We also apologize
for you not having any sense of humor
and for being so damn uptight. Jeez,
they’re only jokes.
Little Janice was not the best student in Sunday school. Usually she slept through class. One day the teacher called
on her while she was napping, "Tell me Janice, who created the universe?" When Janice didn't stir, little Johnny, a
boy seated in the chair behind her, took a pin and jabbed her in the rear.
"God Almighty!" shouted Janice and the teacher said, "Very good" and Janice fell back asleep.
A while later the teacher asked Janice, "Who is our Lord and Saviour." But, Janice didn't even stir from her slumber.
Once again, Johnny came to the rescue and stuck her again.
Jesus Christ!" shouted Janice and the teacher said, "Very good," and Janice fell back asleep.
Then the teacher asked Janice a third question. "What did Eve say to Adam after she had her twenty-third child?"
and again, Johnny jabbed her with the pin.
This time Janice jumped up and shouted, "If you stick me with that thing one more time, I'll break it in half and stick
it up your ass!"
.. the teacher fainted!
A blind man walks in to a department store with his seeing eye dog on a leash. As usual the store manager behind
the customer service counter looks up, notices the customer is blind, and not wanting to stare quickly looks away
again. Out of the corner of his eye the manager sees the blind man start swinging the dog over his head with its
leash. Shocked, the manager runs over and says "Mister is there a problem - is there anything I can help you with?"
The blind man calmly replies "No thanks - I'm just looking around."
A few days after Christmas, A mother was working in the kitchen listening to her son playing with his new electric
train set in the living room. She heard the train stop and her son yell "All you sons of bitches who want to get off,
get the hell off now, because this is the last stop! All of you sons of bitches that are getting on, get your asses in the
train cause were leaving". The mother went in and told her son, "we don't use that kind of language in this house."
Now I want you to go into your room for two hours. When you come out, you can play with your train, but I don't
want to hear any bad language.
Two hours later, the son comes out of his room and continues playing with his train. Soon the train stopped and the
mother heard the son say, "All passengers who are disembarking the train, please remember to take all of your be-
longings with you. We thank you for riding with us today and hope your ride was a pleasant one. We hope you will
ride with us again soon. For those of you who are just boarding the train, we ask that you stow all of your hand lug-
gage under the seat, remember there is no smoking except on the club car. We hope you have a pleasant and relax-
ing journey with us today".
"For those of you who are pissed off with the two hour delay , please see the bitch in the kitchen."
A man walks into a hamburger shop and orders a regular meal. Later, the waitress brings his meal to him. He takes a
bite out of it, and notices there's a small hair in the hamburger. He begins yelling frantically at the waitress,
"Waitress, there's a hair in my hamburger! I demand to see what is going on!"
So, the waitress takes him back where the cook is and to his demise, he sees the cook take the meat patty and flatten
it under his arm pit. He says, "That's disgusting!"
Then the waitress jokes, "You think that's disgusting you should see him make donuts."
Special thanks to all the follow-
ing for making this issue hap-
pen: Without you...well, we just
would have had to work a little
harder.

Our Mission is simple. We want to fill
your brain with so much crap that

we like to call “Plug’d In Overload”.

we will then proceed to take over
what’s left of your mushy, incapaci-
tated brains. In essence, you will be
mindless robots...answering our every
command. We will then Pillage and
Plunder all of Central Pa with reckless
abandon. There will be no stopping
this!
We also want to provide effective and
affordable advertising to the busi-
nesses' and people that make this com-
munity so great. We want to shine a
light on the amazing rock/metal scene
here in Central Pa. and give the bands
a chance to get their music heard and
have the opportunity to network with
other bands, promoters, venues, and
music labels across the Region and the
