Why Accelerating Opportunity?

There are more than 410,000 working age adults without a high school diploma/GED in Kentucky

71% of students entering KCTCS need developmental education in one or more areas

54% (1.1 million) of all jobs in Kentucky will require some postsecondary training in 2018

Between 2008 and 2018, Kentucky will create 617,000 job vacancies both from new jobs and from job openings due to retirement.

330,000 of these job vacancies will be for those with postsecondary credentials.

Target Population• Students without a high school diploma/GED• Test between 6.0-11.9 grade on TABE test

1,429 Credentials Earned 1,099 by students in AOKY + 190 industry recognized licenses 330 since students left AOKY 33 students have earned an Associate’s Degree
