Supporting People Who Answer God’s Calling
Through your support of the one by One campaign you help people who are
exploring their faith and vocation to God. Your gift helps the Diocese be present
in places where those who are considering a vocation live, study and pray. This
happens through the following ways:
• Enhancing the marketing and outreach efforts of the Office of Vocations
• Ensuring the ongoing financial support of those in priestly formation
• Supporting renovations and improvements at Camp Tekakwitha to better
promote spiritual growth of our youth
• Increasing our presence and engagement within regional colleges and
universities so we can more journey with students through their lives
Your support not only helps those exploring a vocation, it ensures the future of
our parishes, enhances Catholic education and broadens social services and liv-
ing justice programs.
To make your gift today contact the parish office, visit the one by One website
at one.catholicfoundationgb.org or call Josh Diedrich toll-free at 877-500-
3580, ext. 8197
Church Roof Repairs were needed
at the Greenleaf
Campus recently.
If you would be
interested in mak-
ing a contribution to help cover the
$4,800 cost, please contact the Parish
Office. Thank you to those who have
already contributed.
Discipleship Formation (RE) News
Thanks to everyone who helped make last week’s
Totus Tuus a success; and extra thanks to our
host families and our cooks. The team very much
appreciated all of you did for them. During this
week, our children gained a deeper understanding
of the Seven Sacraments and the Sorrowful Mys-
teries of the Rosary and the teens combined faith and fun as
they continue on their journey of missionary discipleship.
Praise God for a great week!
REGISTATION for the 2019-2020 Faith Formation pro-
gram is underway – if you have already registered, thanks!
If not, don’t delay – registration information is on the parish
website under the Discipleship Formation tab.

services, sacrament preparation and educational and
fun field trips.
Our mission is to create a family of lifelong learners
dedicated to the growth and development of each
person by nurturing Catholic faith, talents, and
stewardship. Our teachers and staff create a loving
and safe environment where this mission is part of
every day.
St. Clare School has space available in our 3K-8 class-
rooms. If you are interested in visiting our school,
please contact the school office or principal, Lisa
Gruber, to set up a tour.
Faith. Family. Future.
A Prayer for Independence Day
Gracious and loving God,
let your spirit be with us today.
Hear our prayers, and increase in us
the will to follow your son Jesus.
Help us to draw on the resources
of our faith as we use the opportunities
of our democracy to shape a society
more respectful of the life, dignity,
and rights of the human person,
especially the poor and vulnerable.
We ask this through Jesus Christ,
Your son, who lives and reigns
with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever.
Amen.

"TIDbits: Theological Ideas from the Deacons"
We are free in Christ for true freedom
This weekend St. Paul says: “for freedom Christ set us
free.” Sounds like double talk! But what actually is
“freedom”? St. John Paul II often said: “There is no
freedom without truth.” True freedom is freedom to
follow the truth.
Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John
14: 6) The commandments of God, as fulfilled in Christ
and written in our hearts, basically express divine wis-
dom: by submitting to the law, freedom submits to the
truth of creation.
God’s law, in a sense, is like the laws of physics. If we
ignore them, we are doomed to failure. Human intellect
makes us “free” to follow the truth of the laws of phys-
ics. Christ has set us free to follow the laws of God.
“In a world without truth, freedom loses its foundation
and man is exposed to the violence of passion and to
manipulation, both open and hidden.” (Cardinal Avery
Dulles 1995) As Christians, our task is to uphold the
truth of Christ, in a world that defines “truth” as simply
personal choice.
