We’re here to help support you on your faith journey, so you can find
true peace, happiness, and purpose in life. If you would like to join one of
our parishes, contact any staff member, and we will be honored to
officially welcome you home!
New-member registration forms are also available in the church
entrances and on our website.
Please contact Deacon John in the parish office to schedule the baptism and the baptism preparation class.
Congratulations on your engagement! Please contact Fr. Reker at least 6
months in advance to begin preparation.
If you or a family member is homebound or in the hospital and would like a
pastoral visit, please notify the office.
In the gospel this weekend, Luke tells us, “When the days for Jesus' being taken up were fulfilled, he resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem.” Today’s account continues with some of the experiences of Jesus on the road. The disciples learn a lesson in tolerance and mercy and other “would-be” disciples have to decide to let go of things in their lives that will hinder making the journey with Jesus.
A few years ago my wife, Debbie, and I visited The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, Wisconsin. We stopped on a cold January day. The visitor center is located at the base of a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. The centerpiece of the Shrine is a beautiful Church at the top of the bluff. The problem for us was the long, steep, winding road to the top. The host in the visitor center offered to take us up the hill in an electric cart, but instead we chose to walk. After what turned out to be quite an ordeal, we made it to this beautiful church.
We were the only ones in the church. A Franciscan Friar who was praying there, got up and gave us a personal tour of the church and pointed out things we would never have noticed, had we been on our own. At the end of our tour, he arranged for an electric cart to make our return trip down the hill much easier.
Our life is a journey much like our trip up to the Shrine. It was a pretty tough walk for us. The road was slippery and there were many unexpected turns. We almost fell a couple of times. It was very windy and we thought about turning back more then once. We thought we were all alone. But the reality was that there were people to help us along the way as we made that journey.
In my role as Pastoral Associate, I encounter many people on their journey. This week, I conducted two Pre-Jordan Classes. Two separate families, each with a new infant, wanted baptism for their child. The precious child needs a lot of assistance from their parents, extended family and faith community. I also encounter people who are struggling with health issues who need a lot of support to heal. I visit with those who are in their last part of the journey. Many have questions and issues they have to work through on the passage to Eternal Life.
This week at Holy Family we purchased a beautiful new piano. We used funds from the Estate of David Quiring to purchase it. Holy Family was so much a part of David’s Faith Journey and I am sure he would be pleased that his gift will be used during our Sunday Masses.
As Pope Francis said: “Life is a journey, along different roads, different paths, which leave their mark on us. We know in faith that Jesus seeks us out. He wants to heal our wounds, to soothe our feet which hurt from traveling alone, to wash each of us clean of the dust from our journey.”
Have a blessed week!
Deacon John Rudd
P.S. Father Reker will return on Tuesday from Vacation. Please thank Bishop Harrington for celebrating the Masses this weekend with us.

Plan ahead for your summer giving!
Have your contribution to St. Joseph the Worker/Holy Family processed automatically!
With the Automatic Payment Plan, your contributions can be made without writing a check.
No need to change your present banking relationship.
You authorize monthly payments from your account. Your financial institution transfers the
pre-determined amount from either your checking or savings account to SJW’s/HF’s
account.
We withdraw your contribution from your bank account on the 5th, the 20th or both the 5th
and 20th of each month. If either of these days of the month falls on a weekend or a bank
holiday, your contribution is processed on the next business day.
The Automatic Payment Plan saves both you and the parish time and money because you
write fewer checks and you have the peace of mind knowing your payment was made on
time. Your monthly bank statement (or your on-line balance) will show proof of your
payment.
You can authorize the Automatic Payment Plan quickly and easily. Simply fill out the
bottom of this form and mail it to the parish office, drop it at the office or in the collection
basket at mass.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How Do I Figure My Automatic Contribution?
Formula: $______ X 52 weeks = $ ______ divided by 12 months = $ _______ per month
OPTION #1: Please transfer my gift of $ _______ twice a month on the 5th and 20th.
OPTION #2: Please transfer my gift of $ _______ once a month on the 5th OR 20th
AUTHORIZATION FOR AUTOMATIC PAYMENT PLAN
I authorize St. Joseph the Worker and the bank named below to initiate entries to my checking/savings account. This authority
will remain in effect until I notify St. Joseph the Worker in writing to cancel the automatic payment; a change or cancellation
should allow 10-15 business days for processing. I can have the amount of an erroneous charge immediately credited to my
account up to 15 days following issuance of my bank statement or 60 days after posting, whichever occurs first.
